I love how this one interview is basically Andrew Garfield so effortlessly bringing us into Jonathan Larson’s psyche, life as a musical composer and playwright, and his heart. All in 20 minutes. That’s how much he feels the person he portrayed. I cried like a baby during this film. If it were not for the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Rent, I wouldn’t have made it through junior year in high school. RIP Jonathan Larson, viva la vie boheme!
And to think that lots of interviewers out there miss out on having fascinating answers like these, because they keep asking about the freakin spiderman movie instead of focusing on the awesome work he has done on tick tick boom
Beautifully said. At 16:30, it’s so fascinating to see how he explains what his mindset was in shooting the “Why” scene. How Andrew’s mind ventures into these places and then you can kind of see a bit of the character peek out even if Andrew is not really acting during this part of the interview. Truly fascinating.
Andrew Garfiield always performed brillianty in every movie he was in. he killed all of his roles. also, how he still looks 23 when he's actually 38 is an enigma to me
Hearing him talk about his performance like this confirms what I feel watching it… it moved me greatly, it is probably one of my favourite performances ever. And I think the reason why is that it isn’t just a performance… there is something more to it. What Andrew talked about (Jonathan Larson’s energy, his spirit) really is present in the movie in my opinion. It felt incredibly intimate, personal, honest… you could really fell the heart in it.
