I consider the type of masking you employed to be AI before the term AI came to be. Could you imagine (remember) trying to select the orange tones in this photo before the color range masks came to be? It would involve hours of work on a photo such as this. You might even have even considered it to be too intensive to even attempt. Nothing wrong with employing older technology where it actually suits your needs more than newer technology. As always, the right tool for the job.

I try and avoid reliance on AI masking as I wish to become competent with the masking tools and I feel this approach helps develop a better understanding of the masking / editing process - to get 'under the hood' as the old saying goes.
