Because I love to shop ,and I don't need anything, I shop for elderly people who can't. I consider it one of my fun volunteer jobs. 😊

    Hello Dawn,
My friend and I went to a community garage sale today. We were able to discover new areas and get some exercise walking. I found a nice throw blanket for $5 that I plan to wash and cover some piece of furniture to keep cat hair off of the furniture. I bought 3 prepping knives with sheaths for $1 each. My suggestion is to help your neighbors community garage sales and maybe save money there than in the big box stores or online.

I belong to a quilt guild and we make quilts for philanthropy. Some examples are the military , hospitals and foster care to name a few. It’s fun because I get to sew with donated fabric and I don’t keep anything. Free fun and no clutter, as well as spread some love.

If you love being around people, maybe volunteer at a nursing home or homeless shelter?
If you love to cook and bake, maybe start a cooking or baking club?

I do check my checking, saving accounts and credit cards each morning. Good advice. Every time a credit card is used I get a text or email so I know if my spouse is using one. We have had our cards compromised so I look out for that.
I take water or a drink when I am in my car so I don't stop. I never buy food out as a snack.
I recently switched out 2 closets for the spring/summer season. I found I had forgotten about some clothes. I probably will not be shopping for new clothes. I found things to donate to thrift shop.I am now checking pantry and refrigator before we grocery shop. Thanks for your good advice.

We have a mostly volunteer public library. Only 1 full time person and a few part time people with many volunteers. It is in my small town with 2 larger library in the cities nearby. Most funding goes to salaries. Many books are donations.

This weekend decluttered the closet. Removed things to make room for clothes I actually need. Also donating worn athletic shoes that get recycled at a running store. De-owned clothes hangers of random colors and color coordinated the remaining 3 colors by closet or section so it gives a more cohesive look without any cost. Now off to work on a project as my entertainment and to learn some new skills; it isn't free but low cost, budgeted for. A bit intimidating, if it fails my backup plan is to paint over it. If it works, very empowering!! Tried cleaning my stainless fridge with a lemon and salt per YT idea instead of buying stainless cleaner. It left pulp and a smeary mess but then tried water/vinegar which is satisfactory for now.

I am excited about this series. All 10 tips were fabulous. My top 3 favorites of all the tips were the following.
2nd runner up: Don't follow the crowd. A lot of people don't realize they don't have to do what others do. They do have the freedom to be unique.
1st runner up: Look for free things to do around the community. I take advantage of free or reduced-cost fun activities.
And the winner is: Create a wants & needs list; prioritize; color code. I love keeping track of what is needed & wanted. I love being organized. And I feel better if money is spent wisely and on things that make life richer & happier.

We live out in the middle of nowhere so shopping around for things is a waste of time and fuel. So, I shop online BUT I always will put things in my shopping cart and let it stay there a day or a week. 90% of the time, I don’t buy it or I’ll wait a few weeks or a month or so. 😊

Great tips! My husband is out of town taking care of his sister, so I'm trying to eat what we have on hand. The urge to pick up something to eat is very strong, but I'm doing okay so far. We check our accounts daily since our checking account was hacked. I'm just trying to keep up with laundry and cleaning the house, so I don't need a hobby right now. lol. I'll need to clean out the closets in one of the guest rooms as well as remove the furniture. My husband plans on bringing his sister here when she's released from the hospital. I'm taking it a little at a time. Love to all, Linda 💕
