I had heard about John Mayer when I watched the special features of the Live at Montreux DVD of his idol, MY idol, Stevie Ray Vaughan but had never really heard of his music until I went to Denton, Texas to visit a friend and we had music playing on the tv and Come Back To Bed from Heavier Things came on. I stopped and listened through the whole song. That song made me a John Mayer fan. The guy has soul, has talent, I'm not gay but he's a handsome guy and has a good sense of humor. It's because of his guitar playing that really made me want to learn and experiment and put melody into my guitar playing. Keep being an influence on a lot of people around the world, John. I hope to see you in concert in the near future.
After watching this and watching something more recent you can just tell he's grown as a person. Nice to watch and nice to see. Comforting to know we can all change for the better.

That was awesome, I wish he did more question answer things like this. As a guitarist hearing his journey is so inspiring and my dream is to someday have people lining up outside an arena just to see me. Doesn't get much cooler than that. You the man JM!
John made me start writing songs five years ago. He inspired me to pick up the guitar and create something i still am very proud of today. And the capacity to write music has helped me though a lot of problems in my life, so for that i thank you. Love you John and thank you for inspiring people to become better

Being succesful with words is walking on that fine line between sarcasm, smart thoughts, and some intrinsec humor....and he does it like no one other.

I'm 17, and 4 years ago John inspired me to pick up a guitar. He's always been my music idol and inspiration. Last month I got a "just keep me where the light is" lyric tattoo from the song Gravity because he's influenced me so much and I always want to keep that with me and show it off. Maybe when I see him live again on the 27th I could somehow get him to initial by the tattoo and then get that added to the piece. If not then, maybe someday!

Well I must say I have some new respect for John Mayer. When I worked at a hospital, my first job as a charge nurse, there was an intern there that could have been Robert Redford's brother (what he looked like when he did the Butch Cassidy film; gorgeous). I was newly married, and the intern wasn't, but he hung around my desk all the time. He asked me out several times, but of course it was a no. We still became friends, and there was this nurses aide that was not just admiring him, but she thought passionately in love with him and she asked him out to dinner. This poor girl was really heavy and obviously life had not been kind. My heart broke for her, but he was amazing. He tried to be kind, he just didn't say "no," he asked her to have lunch with him and explained to her he was trying to not get involved until school was over, but they could be friends. I was stunned and so proud of him. Men with that kind of compassion are hard to find, and after everything I wish I could have looked into the future and realized the marriage was a poor choice for me; he and I might have been more than friends.
