Beautiful finds! You guys are funny and always make me smile and laugh. You find some really cool and fantastic rocks and material. Love those obsidian nodule pieces with the big snowflake balls on the outside, terrific specimen and display pieces! I haven't seen obsidian pieces like those few before. You always show me knew rocks and places. Thanks for sharing your fun trips and awesome finds!✌️🤠🤘

      Thanks, Kyla!
We are so glad at least one of our subscribers is laughing along with us. We do this just for fun so your encouragement is much appreciated.
We truly never found the spot I had seen on another (very old) UA-cam video and we know we were VERY close, but for us, the challenge of the hunt adds so much to the adventure. It makes a few good rock finds especially rewarding, too.

I could be mistaken, but at 9:56 there’s a road leading UP to the left. If it’s the road I’m thinking, you top out on that hill there will be 3 pits of mahogany and regular obsidian. Even some blood obsidian. We live “in the middle of nowhere there” and could show you where all the types are if you ever roll through. It gave me a chuckle, you were SO close to a lot of good spots, dang storms! Thanks for the vid!

      Hi,
The odd thing about these UA-cam videos is that the time stamps are different for different viewers. Nevertheless, I think it's hilarious that we, once again, missed the X Marks the Spot by just a bit. You see, we just this week returned from Succor Creek, Oregon, where 3 years ago we got skunked after 3 days of searching and as we were leaving, a guy on a quad pointed at "the spot" and it was right where we had been. So we finally returned after 3 years and found the dig, literally a stone's throw from where we were. A video will get posted on that story someday.
VERY nice of you to offer us local guidance. Obviously, we need it. :). I've seen other videos where people found some very pretty obsidian so knew it was there somewhere.
I've never heard of blood obsidian. I'll have to look that up. Sound interesting.
      John

Ha..ha..ha We had the same situation, we lost several hours and found the way out on our first day, went visit Zion and Bryce Canyon then came back 3 days later. This time, we noticed a small car park on the side of the road and two ladies are picking something ( by using our binocular) but when we got close to them they drove out, we stop them and ask for the direction but they told us they know nothing about obsidian in this area, we kept quiet, about we saw them picking something say thank you and waited for them to leave, drove straight to that area and found a river of mahogany obsidian but still not find any snowflake as we watched the crystal collector guy posted on youtube. We stop everywhere on our way out and did find some snowflakes obsidian, good enough for our collection, and headed back to Washington. Will be back again for the snowflake and planning to go for the geode next year

      Hi Tran,
Truly glad you had a good laugh. Thanks for sharing your story. Good to know we have things in common. It can get frustrating when you are SO CLOSE but that makes a find even more rewarding. We didn't know there was so much mahogany obsidian having found only a few. It's John's favorite kind and makes great cabs so we may go searching for your spot someday. We didn't see the Crystal Collector had been there until we got back, unfortunately.
We've been wondering if people are starting to think we never find "the spot". The Dugway geode video coming soon will look a lot like that until our amazing find right at the end of our three days there. We've got lots of cut and polished big and little ones to show. It's slated for after the video of our Ellensburg blue agate find from just a couple weeks ago. When you go to Dugway, skip Site A and go to Site B. B is much better. There's also many other places there you can find online, via BLM/personal maps.
Saw that you've got a nice channel going.
