I play GeoGuessr quite a lot and I can tell you (apart from the rare occasions like the first round) all the locations will be in the most populous cities. This is because, after Google started making the streetview coverage, the government decided to live up to their strict privacy laws and stop any new coverage. This is also why so many houses are blurred since it was publicly made an option for all Germans within the coverage.

this is also why the pictures are really old they are from 2009 - 2011 most of the time

Here a completely random tidbit: I used to live about 70 meters from the photo used for the germany map.

Hello there!
At 14:06 you can see an ad for "Hannoversche Allgemeine" in the shop window. It's Hanover's biggest newspaper. And 'Gilde' is a well-known beer from Hanover.
Well these are all really old footages because Germany has very strict privacy laws and so almost all of these pictures are from like 2006 that would explain why the cars look so old haha. However a few months ago google made some kind of agreement and now they are allowed to film in Germany so street view has been completely updated for Germany. So you might want to do a similar video like this again sometime 😊

Well, from cars u wont see a difference anymore between west & east germany. Only the buildings will still show the difference to some extend.
