Just subscribed to your channel! I know nothing about clocks but have always wanted a grandfather clock and purchased a Halifax, chain driven moonphase - it arrived yesterday! Buyer assured me that it works and strikes on the hour, but could do with a service - I will be watching your videos! David, I found your upload very moving - I lost my darling mother on March 26th of this year, she was 91. I know we must find gratitude in the age they reached, but when a parent is also a freind - the loss is great. I take comfort in knowing that actually nothing dies, everything is source energy, spirit, consciousness. Consciousness is ever expanding. My mother returned to source - she went home.
I am sure you will enjoy your grandfather clock and have it for years to come. Thanks for your comments Alan, I think much the same way and it feels like he's still with me in spirit.
My condolences. My wife just lost her grandfather last week. He was also 92. That's why I've been taking a break on long videos. That's a beautiful clock. I just got a grandfather clock recently, and I've given it a service off camera. It's having trouble with striking twelve (it only strokes once for both 12 and 1), and the chime selection is working, but it's getting seized on all but Westminster. My wife is soldiering on with her school, and I with my clocks. Time will heal.
Thanks for the kind words and I wish you both well over the coming months. For me keeping busy will help. Good luck with your grandfather clock, a bit of patience and a good look at the striking mechanism at 12 o'clock should show up the problem. Let me know how you get on.
As I am new to your channel I just show this video. I am sorry for your loss David. My father, who pass on 8 years ago this week, would have been 92 this May. As he and I both place our trust in Christ and His promises, I expect to see my father again when we meet in heaven. I hope the same for you and yours and the comfort that it brings.
Hi David, I am new to your channel and hearing of the loss of your father and best friend, so very sorry to hear your news. I will be watching your videos with great interest and I have subscribed to your channel.
Thanks Greg, I still miss him a year on and think about Dad everyday. I still discuss my daily plans with him each morning while I walk the dog and I feel his guidance comes though which sets me up for the day.
Inside the clock, if you reach up to the slight left of center, there should be a skinny metal pole. Press upward slightly, and it will strike. Keep doing it until you reach the desired strikes. Use a bright flashlight to see it. Ken
No sign of it yet, it must be above the saddle board. I will be taking the movement out of the case soon and will look out for it. Thanks for the comment. David

@@davidhaggarty Yes, David, we are all spiritual beings having a human experience.
