I love bamboo shoots! My mom used to stew them in a mixture of fresh ginger, fresh garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, a bit of brown sugar and whole peppercorns! So delicious with rice...thanks for sharing and bringing back some good memories, Shinichi and Satoshi! Loved seeing Justin in the beginning of the video! 😊❤
I love watching you cook Satoshi. You have delicious, wonderful and straightforward recipes to follow. Something just makes me feel very relaxed and soothed by these videos. And nice camera work too Shinichi. Smiling ear to ear, just lovely 🥰
Great lesson. I always wondered how to cure bamboo shoots. So much growing where I live on .big Island of Hawaii. My mom is almost 100. She said they used to cook it outside when she was growing up in Kona. Loved this. So calming. Satoshi gives off very positive feels.
Really stepping up your production and editing and it shows! I love the flower shot with the shallow depth of field shown in the last 15sec. Great way to close out this video.
Wow! I never knew a bamboo shoot was so big or needed so much preparation! Lovely video again. This style is really easy to watch and suits your recipe channel perfectly
Thank you Ai-neesan for bringing te fresh bamboo and carbagge. Satoshi cooked delicious dishes. I had eaten fresh bamboo once and I like it very much. Thank you Shinichi and Satoshi for sharing. For both a hug.
That was both informative and heartwarming, guys. There was even a bit of gardening and Justin-chan enjoying the sun and breezes. Ahhhhhhhhh--the whole experience made me relaxed and happy. Thank you!
omg, i miss my mom’s bamboo patch. she actually just cooked her young shoots plain. they had a more veggie flavor, which i loved. since we were bamboo fiends, she never had any left to preserve. your bamboo shoots look delicious!
The takenoko gohan looks scrumptious! The broiled takenoko does, too. Thanks to Ai-neesan for bringing the fresh bamboo shoot to you. This was such a lovely video. Thank you, Satoshi, for the cooking lesson, and thanks to Shinichi for filming! :-) :-)
Wow, what an informative vlogs I've never seen how fresh takenoko being prepared before In ky hometown, takenoko always finely chopped then cooked with mixing shrimps and scrambled eggs for fillings of spring rolls Thank you for sharing Satoshi san and Shinichi san

Just wanted to let you know that this is my second year in Japan living by myself and it's my 2nd Spring now where I come back to this video to prepare my own takenoko. Thank you ❤
It was fascinating for me to see how to prepare such a huge bamboo shoot,I never saw something like this before in my life😯. The food looks so yummy 😋👍.
Satoshi is a 'man-of-mystery' as he seems to be an endless well of experience and knowledge. Satoshi and Shinichi are 'ying and yang' personified (two unique personalities which complement each other quite well). I learned so much today - どうもありがとうございました
Holly Cow! I've never seen a bamboo shoot before! I never knew they were so big! Thank you for filming this it was very interesting to see how you would use it in a recipe.
This was very interesting, I never knew what the actual bamboo shoot looked like. And Satoshi, your presentation of dinner was lovely. I liked you rd choice of music for this video too. Nice job guys!
michael twycross.....YES!!! YES!!!!! I just planted 4 bamboo shoots, on my island, just last night! Lol! I’m finalllly at 3 stars! Working towards 4 and 5! 🥰
Hello Satoshi 🙋 love how this video has the voice overs ; soooo professional 😍 this makes me appreciate the labor that goes into the can of shoots that I open so easily 😉😉 love your little bit of heaven on the balcony ❤ Hugs to Shinichi and Justin 😍😍
We cook fermented as well as fresh bamboo shoots as a curry with any meat, mostly chicken, pork and beef.... We cook it in many ways... Boiled with lentils or fried and many more... BTW from North East India.
I love your cooking episodes. I once bought what I thought was a red bamboo shoot - It wasn't until I got home and did some googling, that I discovered that there are no red bamboo shoots, and that I had bought a banana flower, not a bamboo shoot. I made banana flour dhal curry with it instead.
I bought a large, fresh bamboo shoot at the local Asian market a few months ago. I was clueless as to how to cook it, and I never thought about UA-cam. Alas, it returned to its component molecules in the fridge while undergoing an ugly decomposition, and I never got to cook the thing. SO, what was the purpose of the rice bran in the boiling pot?
The banboo shoot looks so wonderful! I could eat the whole shoot! I don't have access to fresh bamboo, can I use canned bamboo for bamboo rice? I know it won't taste as delicious, but I would like to try making it at home. Thank you Satoshi for showing us how to prepare and cook bamboo. It is one of my favorite things to eat.
Holy crap that’s a “shoot”? It’s huge... when someone says “shoot” I think like maybe an inch in diameter at most... that thing must be like 8”-10” wide at the base! So interesting... I’d love to try it sometime.
Waaaaa! Sugoi desu ne!! Brother, you used nuka. Is that the same as nukamiso? My okasama used to make tsukemono with nukamiso all the time, when I was a child. I love takenoko gohan! Thank you for sharing! Every single dish looked amazing! Thank you to Ai-ne San for taking such great care of our boys! 🥰❤️ P.S. I loved the background music!

Looks good. You should save the water you rinse the rice in and and water your plants with it. They will love it.
This was really interesting; I didn’t know how bamboo shoots are prepared.
Really stepping up your production and editing and it shows! I love the flower shot with the shallow depth of field shown in the last 15sec. Great way to close out this video.

This reminds me of "What Did You Eat Yesterday?", so peaceful, and the food looks delicious!
I only use canned bamboo shoot strips in Thai curry. I like the neutral flavor, crunchy texture they provide.
Tasty and very interesting new ingredient. You have thoughtful and generous friends.
Just wanted to let you know that this is my second year in Japan living by myself and it's my 2nd Spring now where I come back to this video to prepare my own takenoko. Thank you ❤

Yummy bamboo shot.
Your voice is so relaxing and lovely🤗💗🤗💗🤗
Crazy that he has time to make and have tea, and 2 hours for leisure activity while the shoot is cooking! I'd be doing a load of other housework!
This feels like a scene right out of Kinou Nani tabeta ❤️
Oh, yeah 🙆you're right 🙋❗
Holy crap that’s a “shoot”? It’s huge...
when someone says “shoot” I think like maybe an inch in diameter at most... that thing must be like 8”-10” wide at the base!

I have a bamboo forest behind my house. What is the ingredient you put on the shoot to make it edible during the boiling process?

I love fresh bamboo but I want to ask you if you can fresh the fresh bamboo that you get in the store that is in the water solution?
@TabiEats.....Boys, I truly hope, that you can go to the bamboo forest, and dig up some takenoko one day.
I love the way they make everything romantic
Can someone tell me why rice bran is used while cooking the bamboo? And is there an alternative?
if i use FUZU MODE on the rice cooker , the rice is too sweet, so i tried different mode Takenoki gohan mode and it was perfect, with MY BAMBOO...
from my garden !so good i learn from your video too a lot
