Almost every car brand have a sweet spot (years) in which they leaked great work. The right balance between quality, performance, simplicity. This is one of those examples.
Thank you for the review Zachary, I enjoyed it. I’m on my second Monaro here in the UK, shouldn’t have sold my first one! They’re getting very rare here now, only a couple of hundred left on the roads 😊👍
they are functional the air scoops, they have a internal zig zag design to stop water getting it but some air still gets in, can remove them for more air if you dont drive in the rain
The hood scoops are functional. As the air travels over the hood, it acts like a heat extractor, pulling air out of the engine compartment. Faster you drive, the more air that comes out.
Oh yes most definetly I test drove some when they first came on the scene in 2004 but the 05 & 06 really shined this was where you wanted to be I am kicking my self Today I really could of had one but I bought a 4x4 extended cab Pickup truck
“American muscle history” - car built, designed and developed in Australia, based off a full sized Holden commodore sedan, marketed to revive the original Monaro that came out in the 1960’s (that was highly successful in racing)
The hood scoops are functional they direct air into the engine bay as a basic way of keeping air flowing into the engine bay I own the same kind of gto with 27k miles 👌
I have an 04 with a 05 hood. I removed the hood liner and rubber from inside the scoops. They are totally open. I stuffed a little green filter element up in there to keep the bugs out. Looks cool with barbodos blue paint. Love it
Zachary, the LS1 is a 500kw(670hp) natural aspirated engine ( detuned by GM - direct internal source ) check out Holden Australia & HSV Holden Special Vehicles along with Australian enthusiast's sites to open your eyes to the potential and componentry not promoted in US found in Australia.
I have a 05 with 31,000 miles on it and the shifting on the Manuel I think you hit it on the head . When I shift I under pressure I miss 3rd and go into 5th but great car I love it
Zach , that's a cool black GTO and my hubby finally posted a video to show you what's under the hood of our GTO.. The video is called " A Cool Video with Tom " . My hubby doesn't type very well so if you comment I will reply. Love Kathy
Zach, that's a great looking GTO you have and we have a 2006 black GTO with only a little over 11,000 miles on it. Maybe you cant comment on our video called " A HOT GTO WITH TOM DRIVING AT NIGHT " He talks in this video, but cant type very well so if you comment I will reply. Love Kathy❤
Hood scoops that ' Are Not functional ' have no holes or open scoops. Regardless of the main purpose. You can direct the air flow into the air intake if modified.
some people dont know the difference between ram air and heat extraction hood scoops. may aswell get a lighter fiber glass hood with the bulge already made down the middle rather than bother trying to dent the stock one
@@CJColvin As it was a Holden and that is GM, I suppose that's why he thinks it's American but to be honest all this 'badge engineering' is a bit of a joke - in the UK GM owned Vauxhall at the time and although they did a few cars that were good for whatever reason most Vauxhalls were crap !..... That's why sold the brand to a european maker.... Peogeot (or however it's spelled) I think. And they are Frencg but make cars in the UK themselves !
@thakery5720 Exactly mate, also if the 04-06 GTO had retro styling like the 66-67 GTOs then man it would've not only sold like hotcakes but also save Pontiac as well.
Great car but that steering wheel does not tilt and it looks like a truck driver's wheel it's so big and uncomfortable. I didn't buy it for that reason.
This isn't a real Pontiac, this is a rebadged Holden Monaro from Australia unlike the original GTOs from the 1960s with real Pontiac V8s with real Pontiac styling.

They are 100% functional hood scoops bud
Just bought mine !!! Brazen orange !!! I love it !!!
The hood scoops are functional. The have breathable rubber inserts to cut down on rain coming in. Pull out rubber for max air in and heat out.
That car looks better than all the brand new cars put together if I can find one in good condition I will buy one
I would 100% recommend! It was a blast, 69 judge is one of my dream cars, going to own one soon
Actual 0 to 60 time was 4.7 seconds

Same here in the states! You don’t ever see them anymore

Nice video. I love my 05 Red Goat.
Sheer beauty... If I didn't get a TR 05 Goat, I would've gotten the black one.

lol. no they dont. they are said to be for cooling the engine from negative pressure over the hood. but if you own a gto you know that aint true.
Yes, the hood scoops are functional.

I have an OTR intake with the inserts taken out on my 06' GTO = fully functional ram air. :)
@@ThePhoenixw68 gotta buy the hood that has the bulge down the middle to your otr otherwise its just cooling the engine
I have 05 black on black with 17in black chrome rims .....pretty rare and fun car
It was definitely fun! You don’t see these much anymore
Same man!!
This is a real car I wish I could find one to go with my 04 and 14 mustang GT,s
I thought you were Justin Bieber for a sec

how tf you go to 5th from 3rd bro ive never done that only thing i had trouble with was hitting 2nd at full throttle
@stelioskontos9437 6 months late but said he misses third, so I assume he meant he goes from 2nd to 5th
If you remove the plastic inserts from the hood scoops then they will allow air into the engine bay albeit it wouldn't add to the performance.
my scoops 'work', air flows in2 the engine bay hb

It's a Great Australian / American classic ! Let's F*cking face it ! I drive an 05 with faded red paint proudly!
Ik know that park

Aussie, mate
That's Australian built car mate.....
Exactly mate and not a real true Pontiac unlike the original GTOs.

it has a tilt you just didnt want the car
