Multiple Clothes by Erell Mazo, Product Design

Back in time, clothes and fabrics were a valuable material that people inherited from generation to generation. They took time to produce, which made them precious for people. Nowadays, marketing plays on our purchasing desires and makes people always longing for more goods. It is simple for users to buy new items whenever they want. Clothes can easily be replaced or disposed of, because we are detached from their production.
This project called ‘multiple clothes’ aims to find a more sustainable relation to our clothes. The users do not have a passive attitude when consuming, they actively interact with their clothes. The idea is to use a garment composed of a main part on which several elements may be added. Thanks to that device, the user can change his outfit depending on the weather or according to his wishes. These modifications also allow to easily replace damaged parts, thus expanding the clothes’ lifespan.
‘Multiple clothes’ offers the opportunity to stimulate our manual activity. Indeed, users can express their creativity on the modular elements which can be embroidered. What's more, each piece is unique thanks to the user’s choices and the different fabrics and threads used to produce each part.
