- In this video I use the colors White (2 brands), Sea Breeze, Ultra Deep Blue and metallic Peacock Pearl. I've added Liquitex Pouring Medium to all of my paints and diluted with water to obtain the right consistency. I then poured and moved around the canvas to produce a controlled result with negative space.

Happy New Year to everyone and lotsa love!

I think even 4yrs later this is one of ur best paintings. I'm one puddle swirling today 😁
I love love love love love this! Negative space is so calming to the eye and creates such a fantastic balance! Well done I’m going to try this! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much :) and Good luck!! :)
Brilliant piece. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
You actually (near the end of the video) vocalized exactly what I was thinking....I think this is your best piece. Beautiful palette, depth, contrast, soft boldness. Love love love it!
It reminds me of the inside of a geod. Love it!
A masterpiece as per usual. I really love this look and how it (what I call) "blooms"!... I love that! But then again I love all your work. I almost had a heart attack when you said you threw out bags of painting though.....luckily the soothing sounds of the paint dripping onto the plastic covering the floor brought my heart beat back to normal. Keep up the good work!
Looks like water splashing down a mountain side! Beautiful!
LOVE LOVE LOVE. My favorite colors
Beautiful--reminds me of classic Japanese paintings of waves. Stumbled onto this vid as I m learning to oil paint, you are remarkable.
MelyD ..... THANK YOU SO MUCH for telling us that you have thrown two garbage bags worth of paintings out!!! If I don't absolutely love what I did, I will wipe all the paint off and start over, but sometimes when I try to paint over a dried painting I didn't like, there are some troubles with the canvas and so on and so on. I throw out my canvases too and I am so glad to know I am not alone. I am a senior and live on a very low fixed income and I didn't know that I would receive a stimulus check during this pandemic, but I did, and I spent it all on art supplies. I am so tired of feeling guilty about throwing things out and about spending my money on so many art supplies, but that is what makes me happy! I figure at 71 years old, I should give myself a break. Now, back to your painting. I really love it and I do love watching you work. I know you always say you are afraid, but you continue on in spite of it and that gives me courage to, as you say, 'JUST GO FOR IT'. Thanks MelyD!
Love this comment! YES go for it!!! As for the paintings you pour over, if they're too fresh they will crack or other weird stuff can happen. I used to throw them out but now I repour over OLD paintings and it works fine. Old as in many months old :)
@@MelyDartist Right, I do use old canvases too as long as the surface is smooth, and as you say, super dry. It's the ones that cause some cracking or crinkling that I have to throw out. I guess it's the price we pay for experimenting and having fun. hahahaha! Thanks again MelyD and I'll be watching many more of your videos.
This is stunning! I’m glad you tilted it more.
Love working with sea breeze and ultra blue! Beautiful for ocean pours. As always, love your videos! Hope you’re not getting as much snow as we are in Ottawa! 🇨🇦
Love this painting, too! Not sure how I missed this one but so happy to watch a “new” one 😉
I recently threw out a bunch of paintings that I absolutely hated, so I totally get it. I kept them to either gesso and pour over, or I kept them thinking they would "grow on me". They never did, so they all went into a dumpster, even ones that I had already varnished. No need to keep them if you're not happy with them. Start the new year off right and clear your space! This is a lovely painting.
Word! Glad someone got it :)
Beautiful!! I think this is my fave, especially since blue is my #1 color!! I will be trying this placement on 24x3o. Also saying how you threw out stuff, made ME feel better. I pondered the same thing and need space too. Thank you for all you do!! ☺
Heather Mader spoke so highly of you and your art. So glad I checked this out. Sooo amazing and beautiful. To me it looks like a fish swimming up a turbulent river.
I love the simplicity of few colors. Som artists paintings are so busy with to many colors and patterns that it is hard for me to see beauty. Too chaotic for this OCD girl. 🤗
Great job.
I agree with you on paintings being too busy. Mine were like that when i started and when I discovered how negative space brought so much to the overall look, I started working with it.
I'm glad you like my work, thank you :)
If ever you get a second and would like to share the link of Heather's video to me here. I would love to hear what she said.
I love how you let us know the colors & mediums & extras you plan on using. The process of pours. Your voice is soothing & exciting at the same time. Your art is amazing. I can’t even get my ‘flow’ right! Ha! 🤖
so light and airy LOVE IT !!! Thanks
I've been looking to do something for above my Mom's fireplace and this is it! The colors are perfect and will brighten up the corner!
Just beautiful! Love your art! Keep them coming...
What looks like a few slapdash rings, and you get an incredibly beautiful painting.
From your first view it looks like a dragons head. Lovely.

I'm back... I have to tell you, I loved this painting sooo much that I tried to recreate it myself. The only things I did differently was I didn't have the Sea Breeze so I chose a similar color in FolkArt paints, and for pouring medium I used Liquitex Flo Aid.... I tried to keep the same consistency as you did, oh and I did it on a littler smaller canvas, only an 11 x14 . I did the same layout as you, like I literally had you on the table with me and I copied the colors and shapes, amounts...everything. I covered the rest in white, did the swirl baby swirl, I mirrored everything you did and mine looks absolutely NOTHING like yours. I really love it though but it looks nothing like yours. I didn't get any cells or brains and veins, no pebble looking stones, no "blooming" like you always get with every picture. It's got to be your pouring medium. Although this is the first time ever that my metallic paint didn't sink out of sight. It's actually very present in my painting. I'm forcing myself to not check it every 10 mins lol, I took a picture, okay a few pictures and then walked away... went back to move it just a bit to balance it out and haven't looked since. Yours was already forming cells and brains etc before you added more white paint and moved it slightly. I have another friend on youtube and his does the same as yours every time... I just can never achieve that. Disappointing for sure but it still looks nice. Thank you for sharing and allowing others to learn from you.
Love love love. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

This is one of my favorites so far! Absolutely beautiful! It's sad that you threw away your art, but I get the pruning/purging process. It is very freeing to let go of "old you" things.
