Dude I can't tell you how much I appreciate this video, I just moved to Oklahoma from North Idaho and my goal is to catch the species of bass in which I could not up there. Spotted is the next one on my list. Tyvm subbed and look for to watch your collection
@@InformativeFisherman oh I certainly will, I'm excited to catch a spotted bass. Watching you catch all of them got me so pumped up I feel like Iconelli catching my first fish of the day. Thank you for the reso
Thank you so much. I live in NW Ga but most of my fishing life was Arkansas etc.. Large mouths. Spots are a totally different animal. I catch only large mouths in lakes in which the ratio is 1 large mouth per 10 spots We need more info like this.. .
Thank you for this video! I fish Smith Lake in Alabama. Spots are pretty dominant. Jerk baits, sexy Shad chatterbaits and spinnerbaits, and green pumpkin Senkos with the bottom dipped in chartreuse spike it are my go-to’s.
Can you explain why you cast shallow to deep in winter months? In case big one is up shallow sunning itself getting warm?? Also an on the water finding spotted bass with electronics vid would be rad! Thanks
B&Q Fishing Outdoors they noticed that the fish were biting something specific multiple times. It was a pattern not a one time lucky catch. It's been a year since this comment so I'm sure you figure it out by now but.. tight lines. :)
nice video thanks for all the info.love your YTV show I'm new to bass fishing I live in napa ca. and we only have a few lakes that are close to me... are you fishing any tournaments this year?
What lakes do you fish? Lake Sonoma and Lake Berryessa are pretty close to you I think. Really want to get up to Berryessa soon, never been. Sonoma is a GREAT lake...but I just seen pics of how high the water is, not sure how that's effected it.
www.thekelster.com I haven't fished any of those lakes yet I've only fished lake Hennessy. but I plan on fishing clear lake, and Berryessa too and any other lakes near me.. I don't own a boat I just fish off the shore but I am planning to buy a hobie kayak this spring...
I've never been to Berryessa, but hear great things about it. If you end up getting a kayak, and head up to Clear Lake check out Clear Lake Vista Resort on Soda Bay road.....they are located in the middle of Soda Bay and there is some killer fishing within reach when your in a kayak.
Very useful video. My home lake is full of spotted bass. I would like to know more about their spawning habits. I'm sure they spawn on hard bottoms. My biggest question is do they spawn more on the main lake or do they move back in creeks and coves, and do they spawn on flats? I'd just like to know what to look for on lake maps when searching them out.
Hay when are you coming back to Lodi I want to take you to a lake I fish at I pull some decent largemouth out of there. nice video! how do I contact you?
InformativeFisherman I know I was the guy that the restraint across the street from lodi yelled at and I wana take you to one of my lakes "mallerd lake". hit me up on Facebook "Jeromy casity"
Another super video Nick! I'm new over here in the east (NC), fishing primarily Spots in Lake Norman. This video was priceless, and I'm sure I will have better success from watching it. I don't think we have many 5# footballs like you were catching on Commanche :-) Thanks!
SpraYzi A smally crossed with a spot is called a "meanmouth" , they can all successfully breed under controlled situations but due to the fact that they spawn in different areas typically they will stick to their own species
ok. i thought so i fish a on west coast called Lake Nacimiento. You mainly only catch small spots with your occasional small large mouth. I've caught 3-4lb fish out there, which is huge for that lake, that look like large mouth but they have the teeth on there tongue like spots do. i assumed they were hybrids.
This video is what your name is Informative nothing but grade A+ information. Nick you are one hell of a teacher continue success. How you are not at 100k subs is mind boggling.
jerzcnate thank you! I don't run Adsense like the other channels so they don't notify as many of my subscribers. So in return I don't show up as often in suggested videos.

Thank you for this video! I fish Smith Lake in Alabama. Spots are pretty dominant. Jerk baits, sexy Shad chatterbaits and spinnerbaits, and green pumpkin Senkos with the bottom dipped in chartreuse spike it are my go-to’s.

Great episode and information!!!
hey Nick, what does it mean when people say they developed a pattern while bass fishing?
B&Q Fishing Outdoors they noticed that the fish were biting something specific multiple times. It was a pattern not a one time lucky catch. It's been a year since this comment so I'm sure you figure it out by now but.. tight lines. :)
I live in Georgia and I have always wanted to catch a spot
Ga Bassin fish lake lanier it's full of them.
I need this lesson on spotted bass. Great video , Liked*
This is helpful. I live right next to camanche and having a really hard time catching something lately.
Great vid. Would you be able to do one for Smallies?
Thanks John, it's in the works!
InformativeFisherman I can't wait. I'll be on the look out for it. Thanks again

www.thekelster.com Rite on thanks for the info.when I do make it there I will let you know how the fishing went..
No joke we had a 2 pound spot pull our 17 foot aluminum boat at least 20 yards and it wasn't the wind it was flat calm in the mouth of a cove
Those Bama spots came from my local lake, Lewis Smith lake!
Absolutely awesome video. Very informative, and detailed. Thanks for taking the time to make a video like this.
You should do a Folsom Lake episode.

Great Video Nick! Really helpful tips for my next tournament I'm having at Flat Pine lake🎣
Could you go to Scotts flat lake in Northern California. Thanks! Great vid by the way!
CaliFishing I will look it up, thanks!
InformativeFisherman there is some good small mouth action there!
Hay when are you coming back to Lodi I want to take you to a lake I fish at I pull some decent largemouth out of there. nice video! how do I contact you?
sk8andslick I basically live in Lodi, what's up?
InformativeFisherman I know I was the guy that the restraint across the street from lodi yelled at and I wana take you to one of my lakes "mallerd lake". hit me up on Facebook "Jeromy casity"
During spawn, will they tend to move away from current or stay near the main river?
at the minute 8:40 there is an app on your phone i signed up for it but how do i use the app the way you got it?
It should be under map options
I caught a 6lb spotted bass at Folsom Lake is that a record?
Not sure, have you tried looking it up?
I did some research and there is hardly any information for spotted bass on the web but more to do with largemouth.
What rod do u use
The baitcasting setup for my A-Rig was an iRod light flippin' stick, the spinning was an iRod spin
Caught 2 3.5 pounders on Sunday . They fight like a demon but NEVER jump. You know you have a spot if it stays deep on the fight
I have become a big fan of spotted and gotta say I’m hooked on them (pun intended) West Point Lake in GA is loaded with them.

There are a few 3-4lbers, at least in Lake Wylie and Mountain Island. Norman is one I've only tackled on a few outings and I'm rarely successful
do large mouth breed with spotted bass?
SpraYzi yes, only anally
SpraYzi A smally crossed with a spot is called a "meanmouth" , they can all successfully breed under controlled situations but due to the fact that they spawn in different areas typically they will stick to their own species
Yes on rare occasion

These fish are more fun to catch than large mouth, they fight more
I caught a 4 pound spot once and was angry because I thought that I had a 6-7 pound largemouth. Was still a fun fish to catch.

they fight harder pound for pound than largies right
Yea
