    When they say “I’m just getting bids right now”… don’t go to job. Ask for pictures and give them verbal ballpark first.

      I've only gotten 1 job where they say I'm just getting bids lol I don't go out anymore when they say that. They don't care about reputation they just want the lowest price and I'm not nor do I want to be

      The reality is that there are a lot of people that can do the job, and the price doesn’t tell you how well they will do the job. You might know the quality of your work, but the customer doesn’t, and they still need a starting point.

      I’m in programs area. I have a client I completed 3 weeks ago for a drain replacement. I was #2 out of 4 bids, do you know what the difference was? I showed up. They even left me a review about it on Yelp. Got the job 14k, was not the cheapest bid. People work with you for you believe it or not, if you’re not likable, probably best to just give them verbal ball parks over the phone.

      500 grand for a job? That’s crazy is that normal? That’s a house in Phoenix Arizona. Lol how much is their house 2 million?

    Another big flag for me is when a client has the “my last contractor” story, and they want to bend your ear bad mouthing the last company

    I agree with all of these. I also hate the spouses that start arguing/disagreeing with each other on the walk thru for the estimate. Not only is it uncomfortable but they should have talked this over with eachother before calling me instead of acting like children.

    I am a contractor in Fairfiled, CA. I agree with you 100%. Also, If I visit a customer that had work done before, and I see concrete that has not been done right, or realize that this homeowner has been hiring illegal contractors for all the projects, that’s a red flag. She will hire the cheapest and the cheapest is always an unlicensed contractor.

    When customers complain about every contractor that’s worked for them in the past. Don’t be the next one they will complain about. I’ve had one person not pay me a final payment and they told me before I started that the last guy never came for his final payment. 😂

    All your red flags are right on point !
    I have written into every contract that we get paid for any work we do (I post my companies hourly rate). So if they make a change after we spent hours, or a day on something we still get paid for any work we did prior to the change.
    Also, any additional work added after the job starts is payable in full at the time of the change order so new work isn't paid using the original contract budget.

    • @TigranGertz
      @TigranGertz  Місяць тому

      yes yes yes.....hourly rate in contract is a must

    I work for a carpet cleaning company right now, they have “100% customer satisfaction guaranteed or your money back”
    They even went to the extent of “we will give you 30 days & if you’re still not happy- after we have re-cleaned. We’ll give you a full refund.”
    Dirty carpets, old carpets, they’ll never look brand new. 😂
    I tried implying to them yesterday that this is a headache & they’re gonna get headache customers… but I don’t think they got the message. 😂they’re probably on the verge of bankruptcy.

    Two strikes, and you're out. Strike one, barage of phone calls, emails and text to beat down the rough estimate. Strike two. Ok, we make some adjustments, still not happy...We're done. Thanks, but no thanks. Find someone else.
