I feel like Sable was so bland in this game. It takes about a week to get her to warm up to you and she doesn't open up as much, which is understandable but after you get the custom designs from her she pretty much says the same things. which is sad because she was such an interesting character to learn about throughout the game.

Omg yes. I usually buy clothes as gifts because i dont want my villagers to have an abomination of a house. But it becomes a thing of. Getting inside the changing room. Selecting ONE dress, getting out, buy it. Get in, pick a shirt, get out, pay, repeat 8 times more. Its frustrating.

I wish you could organize events and places for all of your villager to congregate and meet together that's not the plaza like a sleepover at your house, a club meeting, or a a school session. I get that that in Harvey's island you have all your villagers together in one room but it would be nice to have them meet someplace on your own island, even if it isn't indoors
I remember redecorating my house in New Leaf and my villagers that I had a good bond with would surprise me out of nowhere by visiting and bringing over a gift 😔
I still can’t believe they replaced a whole post office and characters and stationary with a card stand. This game has a lot of personality stripped for convenience sake.
How else do you expect there to be a post office when we don't need it? Having this new writing system makes more sense, since yknow, it's an airport... I wish they'd bring back buying stationary instead of having to go all the way to the airport though.
I bet the Isabelle comment has to do with her morning announcements when you first boot things up each day. it is kinda annoying hearing her same tv habit announcements on most days since not much goes on each day. maybe update her to announce bout Kicks Labelle Lief Cj Flick & Redd when they are visiting or something to spice her up.
She doesn't even need to be in this game, they just brought her in because the Isabelle stans would riot if she was removed. She has less personality than a piece of white bread in this game. Yes, one way to do it would to make villager's house upgradable to have 2 villagers live together in a house (making the global limit to 20) or have an option to build an apartment building or condo do have 5-10 villagers per building.
10:07 my main problem with kicks honestly is that he appears too much, he's coded like saharah to come every week, no exceptions. his inventory is okay, helluva lot better than Lief's selection every freaking week, but still we got far better NPCs who have to compete for just two slots each week. I'd rather see Redd more often personally
Totally agree with that. Kicks' weekly appearences are extremely annoying. I wouldn't mind to see him only once or twice per month like other characters. I don't get the point why he shows up so often. He's really not that important. Same goes for Saharah.
I agree, I'd love if Redd came by every week! It just doesn't make sense that Kicks appears every week; imo he's not as important as Redd, who I need in order to complete the art gallery
Honestly, for 3:50, I feel like if you could just easily choose your dream villager the game would be too easy. You could complete your dream list within a week or two, and then the game isn't as fun. I gotta say I love running around and yelling at the villagers I don't like to leave my island lmao. I understand it's so annoying waiting for a villager to leave, but that's a major part of the game. I personally love villager hunting, it sort of has the same appeal as a mystery box or something, and even when you find a trash villager it's still fun to laugh at the design lol.
Laugh at the design of a villager? It's not about how they look, it's how they act is what makes them enjoyable. Just as long as there isn't more than one villager with the same personality trait.
The thing that bugs me the most is that on social media, people's islands looks so advanced and detailed with all this terra forming, furniture and pathways everywhere but mine is just boring. I haven't even unlocked the terraforming feature and there's objects lying around. everywhere. Edit: Thank you for the positive replies.😀
we all start somewhere my dude. I'm confident your island is gonna be just as good if not better. The only thing that really matters is that YOU are enjoying the game. That's how you know you're playing it right, not if your island looks good or if you have popular villagers. Just make sure you're having fun and being awesome my dude 🥺💕
My personal opinion: I don’t mind that features are being added through updates in the game. In fact I like it and it’s keeping the game exciting. Yes, I’m sad to see a few of my favourite special characters missing, but this will just make it way more exciting if/when they are added. Also, adding things over time was the case in New Leaf too; you unlocked the coffee shop down the line, you unlocked Main Street gradually, and obviously shop upgrades have always been a gradual thing in the animal crossing series. I know it’s different because such features will be added through game updates now, but as I said I really don’t mind. I can understand why people have a different view and may be disappointed, but that’s just my opinion
Imagine this: you have a completed and full island that’s full of things and you love it just the way it is but then...BAM a new update that’s involves a new building! You have no room on your island for the new building so you have to get rid of the mini cafe or the zen garden you made so you can put that building there
@@wormeater I think when they add more buildings its going to be like the Main street from New Leaf. But now you would need to fly with the airplane to the Main street. There maybe will be the Club, the Barber shop, the Police Station, the Post Office and more. Maybe the Café will be there or the Museum will expand once more and then there would be a Museum Café

my unpopular opinion: they completely ruined Sable in this game. She stops being shy after like the third day of talking to he when before it would take weeks to get her to stop being super shy towards you. I hated how you the villagers could move anywhere. One of your favorite villagers could become less liked because they moved directly on your flower garden
New Horizons is not the "Breath of the Wild" or "Mario Odyssey" of the series. New leaf was more polished and more complete even before Welcome Amiibo. -Villager dialogue in New Horizons is EXTREMELY repetitive which wasnt an issue in New Leaf. They feel more and more like robots and npcs where they felt much more lively and would talk about different things more often in NL. Also you cant invite them to your house, -Terraforming and paths while easily the best new mechanics are extremely tedious in practice. -There is a huge lack of furniture, developers were likely rushed and just recolored a bunch of the furniture series. Also there are dozens of furniture series absent, alpine, sweets, princess, gorgeous, rococo, mermaid, sloppy, and sleek just to name a few. -Placing furniture outside doesnt have the same functionality as inside and can be annoying. -A lack of cotent, in New leaf there was a few more visitors (katrina, gracie, pascal) and some would set up shop in your town. Theres also only 1 upgrade to nooklings and less of a sense of progression. The tropical island also had some decent minigames so there was more to do with friends than give them a tour or trade. -DIYs cant be stored. No you cant even bury them, i wanted to make a free diy dig in my town but couldnt. This wouldnt be a problem if they didnt repeat so often. Basic DIYs you get in the beggining shouldnt repeat! Also the common criticisms of bulk diying, online play, etc.

I agree that villager dialogue in NH is super repetitive, but this was DEFINITELY an issue in New Leaf as well. I've been saying this (almost verbatim, describing them as robots) about NL long before NH was even in development. No game has matched the original in terms of dialogue originality. It's clear that the focus of the games has become customization, rather than villager interaction. While customization is still fun, the lack of interesting interactions is a damn shame, in my opinion.

The NH villager dialogue has so many problems. Not even being repetitive, but it is WAYYY too short. They greet you, then when you ask to talk to them, they give you one sentence, and sometimes that one sentence is what they said as a greeting.
The point of the dialogue U so right, I talk to my villagers and they tell me the same. EVERY FRICKING DAY With time they start to change but at the beginning it’s always the same dialogues :/
I'm just going to say it really bothers me that your villagers teach you emotions even though there was a character made for teaching you emotions. Honestly learning emotions was way better in new leaf because it was more entertaining.
Yeah it was. Not to mention it's almost kinda luck-based now; you have to hope you're playing when the set villager that was gonna give you a reaction is outside and wait for them to feel like teaching you one (and I think you need all personality types to get all reactions), whereas in New Leaf, all you needed was a fruit and a trip to Club LOL.

I like some of the music, but a lot of it is too loud and in your face. I preferred new leaf. Bunny day would have been ok if it didn’t clash with Sakura. Mayday could have had more events. The museum ticket rally was pointless. The wedding event is great, but I want Reese and Cyrus back in the game. I like the fact this game is staggered. It can be overwhelming having too many things to do all at once. Also, if you don’t time travel, you’ve always got something to do. Nothing against time travelling, but it does mean sitting around waiting for the next event. Animal crossing isn’t the type of game you “beat”. It’s a marathon not a sprint. Isabelle barely features in this game. It’s sad. Harv is cool, but I don’t bother going to his island, it’s pointless. I miss the characters from New Leaf, and I hope we see them return, but not Shampoodle, she was pointless. Raymond, just a cat in a suit and glasses, I don’t get he’s that popular. Lack of furniture and issues with online play are downsides of this game, along with not having the island for bugs and fish. I think New Horizons is better than New Leaf in a lot of ways. I love the crafting, the fact that you decide where buildings, and islanders go. Areas where New Leaf was seriously lacking in my opinion.
I agree with the point about the music. I like the new leaf ost as it’s there but it’s not incredibly in your face. The new horizons music, specifically the afternoon tracks are somewhat obnoxious. I enjoy the night music most as it’s a bit quieter and less annoying
I just wish we had a setting where we can choose how low the music goes and how high it goes, yes i know we can low down the volume but i like to hear the natural sounds of my avi’s feet pitter pattering on the ground
unpopular opinion: isabelle got way overhyped when new leaf first came out, and because of that people give her a personality that she just doesn’t have. i played new leaf for 7 years and i’ve never gotten any conversation out of her. her personality just didn’t really get developed as well as the other special characters have. she’s honestly just an irritation 99% of the time and there’s really no reason why she even needs to be in new horizons. all my friends love her but she’s literally just a secretary.
Soggy Cactus yeah there’s so many other characters who deserve the spotlight more. like all the other ones have had such interesting backstories added to them but everyone just flocks to isabelle who’s about as interesting as white bread
It is kind of unfortunate(but not surprising) that the game became so focused on having the "perfect" villagers. People don't seem to understand what a tiny minority the most popular villagers are . If you could just pick and choose you'd end up seeing the same 30-40 villagers while the other 350 would just be useless data in the game. And, to be honest, this basically already happens between amiibo cards and all of the trading that happens in the game. I know people love having the option pick things exactly how they'd like, but in some ways that is the opposite of what Animal Crossing used to be about. A lot of long time fans have affection for the less aesthetically pleasing characters because they landed in their town and they grew attached to them. That being said, I think there is a fair argument to make that Nintendo is being anti-consumer by still having Amiibo features in the game while not making the cards themselves readily available. I'd rather give Nintendo 10 dollars for a pack of random cards than giving FUN CHEAP HOBBY GAMES ebay store $40 for 1 card.
I just wish NH was like the old gamed where you couldn't pick AT ALL. People would just buy a house and you didn't have a say in it whatsoever. Mystery islands and Switch Online ruined that.

It would be cool if in animal crossing animals could form deeper relationships with eachother than just friends and eventually they asked you to officiate their wedding and then one of the houses gets destroyed since the two move in together.

Unpopular opinion: Chops has a really cool design! I think this because I’m low key obsessed with nutcrackers, and his design fully reminds me of them! From his clothes to his mustache to his eyes even! They’re all so fitting for a nutcracker themed character. He’s not my favorite villager by a long shot, but I don’t think he’s ugly by any means.
As someone who has all amiibo card series (except the Sanrio set), I still enjoy being suprised by getting random villagers, but also like the fact that if I don't like a villager, I can give them the boot.
No getting random villagers is how you grow to love them, that one character only you really know about. A lot of villagers are not pretty or ugly, but have great personalities. Having so many villagers would be pointless if everyone kept choosing the same 10. If Nintendo chooses to do this, it'll prove they've really lost touch with the game, making it more of a designer game and forgetting the values and interactions of the older games, things that were memorable that kept you coming back to the game, and to be in that atmosphere
unpopular opinion: i feel like the animal crossing community has become more toxic. back when nh wasnt out everyone respected eachothers favorites and nobody was like "bobs overrated!" or "rosies overrated!" nobody judged eachother for liking popular villagers and it makes me sad that people are doing that now :(

I used to think it was kind of useless because I’m not a fan of taking pictures. However, a couple days ago, I realized it’s perfect for planning out the rooms in your house. I go there to decorate the rooms and then buy the furniture I used after I’m done
I think the biggest reason content is being released steadily is because time travellers would spoil everything otherwise. It's nice to be able to experience events and seasons as they come.
When you go to your island for a while, you’ll probably start to notice a pattern on the dialogues. It’s... pretty limited. I love the villagers I have. I just wish there were more things to say. The rare dialogues I get, though, is when they start interacting with one another cause it almost never happens. When it does, I do get surprising results. For example is when Freckles and Biff interacted. I’ve seen the whole mirror conversation, though Biff took a different spin that cause both me and Freckles to give a surprise reaction. I liked that! More of that please x.x
I just want the villagers to have actual personality. I hate hearing them say things they’ve said before. They are literally just robots with nothing special about them. Another thing is that the balloon presents are not exciting and are extremely common. In previous titles if I saw one I’d get excited because they would have exclusive Nintendo items but now they have nothing interesting in them. Also there is no need to have all these new characters and the music is honestly garbage, Nintendo has made astonishing music but these songs don’t make me feel energized and excited to play. Lastly are the golden tools, when you unlock them they don’t feel rewarding because they have no purpose, they’re just regular tools that last a bit longer. In the other games they actually had a purpose and could do special things ordinary tools couldn’t(besides the golden watering can).
I didn't pop many balloons in New Leaf because I didn't like the balloon furniture. I actually like that there's some variety in the balloon items, and that you can get diys from them
I AGREEEEE it was so fun seeing your villagers have this huge horse mackerel and you would spend all day trying to get one larger then theirs, and seeing the top 3 placements was soo cool
... i hate judys deisign I cant stand it, maybe because i hate the colour pink and all but its not that Her design is way too much for a villager and makes her look like a special character. I mean gradients like that are just... just not right for a villager which are normally simple and sweet

I do not like the star rating system- it railroads you to much. Having to have whatever amount of fencing, furniture, certain ratios of plant life. Like its no wonder all the islands you see on social media look alike. I got myself 3 lily of the valley and said screw it to 5 star.
I kinda agree as I felt the same until I hit 5 star. I feel it pushed me to work on an island I was already happy with, to make it a lot better. So it worked out in the end for me, but getting there was a little annoying since I was already happy.
i kinda agree too. i think it's ok to have it, just maybe lower the requirements(?) so people who aren't good at landscaping & decorating don't have to feel like their island isn't good enough
I like the way their updating over time because some people would get all the buildings and characters then quit, it keeps me and others playing over time and not just for a month or so.
Isabel is annoying because she prattles on about tv and missing socks every damn day. How about you announce when an infrastructure project is completed, or someone is here selling stuff on the island!
Same, it will help keep the game alive for a long time. But I’m also the type of person that I’m not going to get bored of the game just because I can change my island so much
lola rose I think that is fine but the holding off of content allows for longer time of playing. It makes you keep checking. At this point in normal ac games, I would be completely done playing it but I still check in every day
i dont think they’re underrated, since there are villagers like Flora, Julia, Phoebe, and even Gladys who are liked by a lot of people. imo mice are super underrated
I loved acnh at the start I just feel like it’s a chore now idk I never got like this with wild world, I just haven’t picked up nh in a couple weeks now peoples islands are so advanced and I just feel like mine looks a mess
It doesnt matter what your island looks like! You don’t need to make you island perfect just because of other people opinions. Just as long as your happy with it then that’s all that matters ❤️
It doesn't need to look like a resort or suburbia for 5 stars either. Mine's not that much different than my NL town was (trees and flowers *everywhere* ) and I still made it to 5 stars. This is one of the few games where I can honestly say...this is not a competition. Do what makes *you* happy.
Unpopular Opinion: I really don't understand why people want more villagers on their islands. Currently the villager dialogue is so dry, impersonal, and repetitive. ESPECIALLY villagers with the same personalities! :( I think the suggestion will only highlight the flaws in NH's writing
Hm... I feel like instead of more villagers spots, there should be more personalities. That way, there's more of a variety in dialogue and interactions.
I see a lot of people complaining about repetitive dialogue but it doesn't happen to me as much? It does happen, don't get me wrong, but not as frequently. Out of my 9 villagers I have 2 normals and 2 smugs, I'm constantly talking to them and I only get a few repeats in dialogue. I think it's because the first 3 times or so you talk to a villager, they talk about something "dumb" like how you were on your phone all day or that you were digging up bells or whatever (villagers with the same personality will usually say the exact same thing as the other villager, which sucks), but if you keep talking to them then most probably they'll say something new! This is also how you get requests without waiting for them to come to to you. I talked 5 times in a row with Annalisa and she suddenly went off about a new book she was reading and it was so funny and cute haha This is my first animal crossing game so I wouldn't be able to compare it with other games but I quite like the writing in nh! Although I do understand that you shouldn't have to talk to them repeatedly just to get new dialogue. Also sorry for the long reply, I can't be concise to save my life lol
So many people giving their opinion and these people probably never played an animal crossing game before NH. Picking your own villagers?! We basically do now by going to islands or scanning amiibos. Be grateful new players, cause we had it much harder in other games....

Natalia Robakowska I like it, but I’m not the kind of person who has a concrete set of dreamies and goes out searching for only a few animals. I tend to go to islands and if I like the villager I find, take them in. I just like being able to pick out new villagers I’ve never met before or am excited to have on my island. I also agree that it’s kind of boring that a lot of people have the same villagers, but it’s their choice I suppose-

I have 2 villagers on my island that I dont like but I feel horrible when I'm mean to them. They're like actual people to me. They all have personality with their type, design, and my imagination combined. I think that's the point and that's partly why they dont make every villager stereotypically cute. I mean how are you going to see your gruff father-in-law or your evil stepmother in a super cute villager? Isnt the point of the game to feel like you're living in a town with actual people? To feel at home and not so lonely? It's fake when everyone is super cute and sweet
the delay would've been longer if they put everything in the previous games into it. people need to be more grateful, because they've already put so much love and detail into the game. I'm not surprised things got left out when there's all that detail. Plus, they can use the left out content to hype up updates

Here's an unpopular opinion: I think i'd preferred an HD release of New Leaf with the graphics and feel of this game and with expanded features(more public works, furniture, etc) than the stuff we got in New Horizons.
Actually, one more unpopular opinion: I think the main reason Harriet gets hate is stupid, especially if the same people who dislike her for this reason don't have a problem with Rover. Both characters ask you questions that will determine how you look, and most of those questions, Rover's especially, don't give you an indication of what you'll look like. But that's not a problem with the characters, it's just a bad system for customization. So the fact that some people give Rover a pass but don't give Harriet a pass for the exact same system is ridiculous to me. (Long story short, if you want to look a specific way, you have to use a guide for both characters. However one is liked despite that system while the other is disliked because of said system, and that's dumb).
Here’s an idea: Leif or Kicks should end up going the same route as Mabel and should get their own shops, and then other NPCs should take their place. Then those NPCs can do the same until there is just two left to permanently be visitors.

I like Harv as a character, but here’s my thought. Dr shrunk actually makes sense for filling the role they wanted. He’s into theater, telling jokes exc. like a photo studio absolutely sounds like something he would do. Harv doesn’t seem like a character who would be into photography
I personally like the fact that I don't have those popular characters (although I have Marina, but I don't really like octopus characters). It makes my village more unique and interesting as people get to see more unique faces and personalities.
You're right. It makes your village more unique and lively than the same ol: Raymond, Audie, Sherb, Marina, Judy, Julian, Marshal, Bob, Molly, Coco, Apollo etc. I have Raymond and Fauna but the rest of my villagers are villagers that the internet rarely, if not, never acknowledges.
I have no played ACs before New Horizon, so I did not know people were so interested on having specific characters. :D I just mostly got whatever I saw first, but I like them all. I think my favorite is Buzz. :_D He lowkey flirts with my character and is fun eagle design. But I have noticed that basically all my characters are also "nobodies" for the ACNH community. I do have Apple, who sometimes seems to make the cut and appear in popular lists.
Well problem with me is my top favorite villagers also appear to be some of the most popular lol. But I do like a lot of the not so popular villagers: like flip and Alfonso for example
I feel like I’m the only person that actually likes Zipper T,I do agree it was a bit to long in this version. I just like the mystery of Zipper T but that’s just me.
I think New Horizons took away the charm of the series by removing emphasis on interacting with villagers in favor of more customization and new features. Sure terraforming is cool and all but the repetition of the dialogue sends NH straight to the spot for worst game in the series imo
I've tried so hard to love new horizons but in it's current state i just haven't been able to get in to it like i was with new leaf. My island is a mess right now because the whole game feels like a chore with little content. Im also really annoyed about the size of the rooms you upgrade your house with. Idk just in general im disappointed and i hope with more updates i can get back in to it.
Right?? I remember with new leaf the tutorial lasted so long and I just had so much fun doing it and talking to Isabelle. Now new horizons is basically a free for all, and has no real direction. At least with new leaf there was the goal of unlocking all the shops and buildings. As well as ordinances and town works projects. I love the freedom new horizons gives with island decorating, but often I just find myself wandering around my island and procrastinating doing daily tasks.
What I want to know is why the side and back rooms in our house can’t be expanded. I don’t necessarily need more room for storage, but having more space in those other rooms would be nice
There is nothing wrong with updates, but I get what they mean. It just came out with missing features. Like the updates should feel supplemental and not like "additions" that should have already been there from the start. I get that terraforming probably took up a lot of development time probably, but if they needed more time, maybe AC should have had another delay. Then again, I do wonder how much more sparse ACNH would have looked like if it was released in 2019 like originally planned...And releasing in 2020 despite some of its incompleteness has been one hell of a blessing in these trying times.

Not really an unpopular opinion but more like a fact: With nh being so popular that's bringing in a lot of new people which is not bad but I also feel like the community is a lot more toxic rn and that's kinda ruining the fun for me. And I'm kinda sad that this might stay for a long time before the next big thing Nintendo releases. Like I've seen so many people being rude over this game. For instance the Raymond thing. I think everyone should enjoy the game and have their own opinions but don't start fires.
Part of me wishes they did a HD new leaf port earlier on in the switch life span, perhaps this could’ve tied us over until NH and then they could spend more time on NH so that the game is complete on release.
Even though I could see some people liking this, I believe it would have lead to a lot more criticism on new horizons as the games would be even more similar. I would probably play both regardless but it just doesn’t seem like quite the correct solution

judy and audie are my first and second favorite respectively of the new villagers, and i got both on my island through good deals that thankfully didnt cost an arm or leg, in game of course, i like raymond but i already got my cat with rosie as i only do one species per villager for variety and i love my rosie bud so much, megan and sherb along with dom and reneigh are great too, and i dare say megan is the best bear villager, not including the cubs, cyd is great too, but no one wants him, its about the looks mostly.
1. Definitely an unpopular one for me. I just can’t seem to adjust to the soundtrack. It doesn’t mean I dislike it, not at all (10 AM is my jam!) but it isn’t like it was with Animal Crossing and Wild World, where I would play the game at certain hours to make sure I didn’t miss certain tunes. It took me around 4 to 6 weeks to adjust to New Leaf, but we’ve long passed that timeframe and I barely feel anything for this music. * shrug * It is what it is. 2. I’m with this guy. Bunny Day was not as bad as people made it out to be. Not only did the hate probably involve that so many people were stuck at home, but at that point in time, people really just wanted to focus on shaping their islands, and materials were so hard to come across! I went really slow and steady with my crafting and building because I am sharing my Switch with my spouse and I didn’t want to get so ahead in the game that his contributions just feel like an afterthought. So I was more focused and enjoying the event for what it was. 3. Of course. Because the quality of video games has gone up so high, games require so much more work and game companies want the return to reflect that level of professionalism and attention. From a business and profit standpoint, I think it’s absolutely genius to encourage people to play their games for as long as possible and having little updates scattered throughout several years might encourage people to play the game as it was intended to be played. Not that it isn’t annoying, but it’s kinda nice to have something new to look forward to without the risk of getting it too early and being bored with it fast. 4. Mmnah. Not feeling it. I’m a bit of a boomer when it comes to that. I like to treat my Islanders like actual Islanders and not accessories to my island. It’s fun not knowing who is going to come to the campsite next or in my next NMT tour! Variety is the spice of life! 5. Yes. That is all. 6. She just feels like she’s here because she’s popular. Royal Jordan I suppose I made point number 3 sound a little more absolute than I actually meant. I do agree with how you feel about the lackluster holidays. But I think a good thing about rolling out constant updates is that they have the opportunity to learn from each and every one. The wedding event may not be all that exciting, but it already goes beyond the stamp rally for offering more items as you return. I know Nintendo has a track record of being really selective with the feedback they listen to, But I’m glad they’ve given enough for me to enjoy the ride as I continue to hope for improvement.

Unpopular opinion: Rodney is a villager I think gets way too much hate. I disagree with how he's usually seen as one of the ugliest villagers because I think he's adorable and just a bit flawed. He just moved to my island a few days ago and he's become one of my favorites with how funny he is. I also like how his house is a game room, and in New Leaf, he says he's a fan of Luigi's Mansion.

It takes about a week to get her to warm up to you and she doesn't open up as much, which is understandable but after you get the custom designs from her she pretty much says the same things. which is sad because she was such an interesting character to learn about throughout the game.

10:07 my main problem with kicks honestly is that he appears too much, he's coded like saharah to come every week, no exceptions. his inventory is okay, helluva lot better than Lief's selection every freaking week, but still we got far better NPCs who have to compete for just two slots each week. Honestly, for 3:50, I feel like if you could just easily choose your dream villager the game would be too easy. You could complete your dream list within a week or two, and then the game isn't as fun. I gotta say I love running around and yelling at the villagers I don't like to leave my island lmao. I understand it's so annoying waiting for a villager to leave, but that's a major part of the game. I personally love villager hunting, it sort of has the same appeal as a mystery box or something, and even when you find a trash villager it's still fun to laugh at the design lol.

My personal opinion: I don’t mind that features are being added through updates in the game. In fact I like it and it’s keeping the game exciting. Yes, I’m sad to see a few of my favourite special characters missing, but this will just make it way more exciting if/when they are added. Also, adding things over time was the case in New Leaf too; you unlocked the coffee shop down the line, you unlocked Main Street gradually, and obviously shop upgrades have always been a gradual thing in the animal crossing series. I know it’s different because such features will be added through game updates now, but as I said I really don’t mind. I can understand why people have a different view and may be disappointed, but that’s just my opinion

Imagine this: you have a completed and full island that’s full of things and you love it just the way it is but then...BAM a new update that’s involves a new building! You have no room on your island for the new building so you have to get rid of the mini cafe or the zen garden you made so you can put that building there
@@wormeater I think when they add more buildings its going to be like the Main street from New Leaf. But now you would need to fly with the airplane to the Main street. There maybe will be the Club, the Barber shop, the Police Station, the Post Office and more. Maybe the Café will be there or the Museum will expand once more and then there would be a Museum Café

they completely ruined Sable in this game. She stops being shy after like the third day of talking to he when before it would take weeks to get her to stop being super shy towards you. Also, the fact that all she gives you are pattens is mega disappointing. Needing to have Nintendo Online in order to use the Kiosk is stupid imo.

New Horizons is not the "Breath of the Wild" or "Mario Odyssey" of the series. New leaf was more polished and more complete even before Welcome Amiibo.
-Villager dialogue in New Horizons is EXTREMELY repetitive which wasnt an issue in New Leaf. They feel more and more like robots and npcs where they felt much more lively and would talk about different things more often in NL. Also you cant invite them to your house,
-Terraforming and paths while easily the best new mechanics are extremely tedious in practice.
-There is a huge lack of furniture, developers were likely rushed and just recolored a bunch of the furniture series. Also there are dozens of furniture series absent, alpine, sweets, princess, gorgeous, rococo, mermaid, sloppy, and sleek just to name a few.
-Placing furniture outside doesnt have the same functionality as inside and can be annoying.
-A lack of cotent, in New leaf there was a few more visitors (katrina, gracie, pascal) and some would set up shop in your town. Theres also only 1 upgrade to nooklings and less of a sense of progression. The tropical island also had some decent minigames so there was more to do with friends than give them a tour or trade.
-DIYs cant be stored. No you cant even bury them, i wanted to make a free diy dig in my town but couldnt. This wouldnt be a problem if they didnt repeat so often. Basic DIYs you get in the beggining shouldnt repeat!
Also the common criticisms of bulk diying, online play, etc.

I agree that villager dialogue in NH is super repetitive, but this was DEFINITELY an issue in New Leaf as well. I've been saying this (almost verbatim, describing them as robots) about NL long before NH was even in development. No game has matched the original in terms of dialogue originality.
It's clear that the focus of the games has become customization, rather than villager interaction. While customization is still fun, the lack of interesting interactions is a damn shame, in my opinion.

The NH villager dialogue has so many problems. Not even being repetitive, but it is WAYYY too short. They greet you, then when you ask to talk to them, they give you one sentence, and sometimes that one sentence is what they said as a greeting.

I like the fact this game is staggered. It can be overwhelming having too many things to do all at once. Also, if you don’t time travel, you’ve always got something to do. Nothing against time travelling, but it does mean sitting around waiting for the next event.
Animal crossing isn’t the type of game you “beat”. It’s a marathon not a sprint.

Lack of furniture and issues with online play are downsides of this game, along with not having the island for bugs and fish. I think New Horizons is better than New Leaf in a lot of ways. I love the crafting, the fact that you decide where buildings, and islanders go. Areas where New Leaf was seriously lacking in my opinion.

unpopular opinion: isabelle got way overhyped when new leaf first came out, and because of that people give her a personality that she just doesn’t have. i played new leaf for 7 years and i’ve never gotten any conversation out of her. her personality just didn’t really get developed as well as the other special characters have. she’s honestly just an irritation 99% of the time and there’s really no reason why she even needs to be in new horizons. all my friends love her but she’s literally just a secretary.

It is kind of unfortunate(but not surprising) that the game became so focused on having the "perfect" villagers. People don't seem to understand what a tiny minority the most popular villagers are . If you could just pick and choose you'd end up seeing the same 30-40 villagers while the other 350 would just be useless data in the game. And, to be honest, this basically already happens between amiibo cards and all of the trading that happens in the game. I know people love having the option pick things exactly how they'd like, but in some ways that is the opposite of what Animal Crossing used to be about. A lot of long time fans have affection for the less aesthetically pleasing characters because they landed in their town and they grew attached to them. That being said, I think there is a fair argument to make that Nintendo is being anti-consumer by still having Amiibo features in the game while not making the cards themselves readily available. I'd rather give Nintendo 10 dollars for a pack of random cards than giving FUN CHEAP HOBBY GAMES ebay store $40 for 1 card.

Unpopular opinion: Chops has a really cool design! I think this because I’m low key obsessed with nutcrackers, and his design fully reminds me of them! From his clothes to his mustache to his eyes even! They’re all so fitting for a nutcracker themed character. He’s not my favorite villager by a long shot, but I don’t think he’s ugly by any means.

No getting random villagers is how you grow to love them, that one character only you really know about. A lot of villagers are not pretty or ugly, but have great personalities. Having so many villagers would be pointless if everyone kept choosing the same 10. If Nintendo chooses to do this, it'll prove they've really lost touch with the game, making it more of a designer game and forgetting the values and interactions of the older games, things that were memorable that kept you coming back to the game, and to be in that atmosphere

When you go to your island for a while, you’ll probably start to notice a pattern on the dialogues. It’s... pretty limited. I love the villagers I have. I just wish there were more things to say.
The rare dialogues I get, though, is when they start interacting with one another cause it almost never happens. When it does, I do get surprising results. For example is when Freckles and Biff interacted. I’ve seen the whole mirror conversation, though Biff took a different spin that cause both me and Freckles to give a surprise reaction. I liked that! More of that please x.x
I just want the villagers to have actual personality. I hate hearing them say things they’ve said before. They are literally just robots with nothing special about them. Another thing is that the balloon presents are not exciting and are extremely common. In previous titles if I saw one I’d get excited because they would have exclusive Nintendo items but now they have nothing interesting in them. Also there is no need to have all these new characters and the music is honestly garbage, Nintendo has made astonishing music but these songs don’t make me feel energized and excited to play. Lastly are the golden tools, when you unlock them they don’t feel rewarding because they have no purpose, they’re just regular tools that last a bit longer. In the other games they actually had a purpose and could do special things ordinary tools couldn’t(besides the golden watering can).

I do not like the star rating system- it railroads you to much. Having to have whatever amount of fencing, furniture, certain ratios of plant life. Like its no wonder all the islands you see on social media look alike. I got myself 3 lily of the valley and said screw it to 5 star.

It doesn't need to look like a resort or suburbia for 5 stars either. Mine's not that much different than my NL town was (trees and flowers *everywhere* ) and I still made it to 5 stars. This is one of the few games where I can honestly say...this is not a competition. Do what makes *you* happy.
Unpopular Opinion: I really don't understand why people want more villagers on their islands. Currently the villager dialogue is so dry, impersonal, and repetitive. ESPECIALLY villagers with the same personalities! :( I think the suggestion will only highlight the flaws in NH's writing
Hm... I feel like instead of more villagers spots, there should be more personalities. That way, there's more of a variety in dialogue and interactions.
I see a lot of people complaining about repetitive dialogue but it doesn't happen to me as much? It does happen, don't get me wrong, but not as frequently. Out of my 9 villagers I have 2 normals and 2 smugs, I'm constantly talking to them and I only get a few repeats in dialogue. I think it's because the first 3 times or so you talk to a villager, they talk about something "dumb" like how you were on your phone all day or that you were digging up bells or whatever (villagers with the same personality will usually say the exact same thing as the other villager, which sucks), but if you keep talking to them then most probably they'll say something new! This is also how you get requests without waiting for them to come to to you. I talked 5 times in a row with Annalisa and she suddenly went off about a new book she was reading and it was so funny and cute haha
This is my first animal crossing game so I wouldn't be able to compare it with other games but I quite like the writing in nh! Although I do understand that you shouldn't have to talk to them repeatedly just to get new dialogue.

I have 2 villagers on my island that I dont like but I feel horrible when I'm mean to them. They're like actual people to me. They all have personality with their type, design, and my imagination combined. I think that's the point and that's partly why they dont make every villager stereotypically cute. I mean how are you going to see your gruff father-in-law or your evil stepmother in a super cute villager? Isnt the point of the game to feel like you're living in a town with actual people? To feel at home and not so lonely? It's fake when everyone is super cute and sweet
the delay would've been longer if they put everything in the previous games into it. people need to be more grateful, because they've already put so much love and detail into the game. I'm not surprised things got left out when there's all that detail. Plus, they can use the left out content to hype up updates

Here's an unpopular opinion: I think i'd preferred an HD release of New Leaf with the graphics and feel of this game and with expanded features(more public works, furniture, etc) than the stuff we got in New Horizons.
Actually, one more unpopular opinion: I think the main reason Harriet gets hate is stupid, especially if the same people who dislike her for this reason don't have a problem with Rover. Both characters ask you questions that will determine how you look, and most of those questions, Rover's especially, don't give you an indication of what you'll look like. But that's not a problem with the characters, it's just a bad system for customization. So the fact that some people give Rover a pass but don't give Harriet a pass for the exact same system is ridiculous to me. (Long story short, if you want to look a specific way, you have to use a guide for both characters. However one is liked despite that system while the other is disliked because of said system, and that's dumb).

I like Harv as a character, but here’s my thought. Dr shrunk actually makes sense for filling the role they wanted. He’s into theater, telling jokes exc. like a photo studio absolutely sounds like something he would do. Harv doesn’t seem like a character who would be into photography

You're right. It makes your village more unique and lively than the same ol: Raymond, Audie, Sherb, Marina, Judy, Julian, Marshal, Bob, Molly, Coco, Apollo etc. I have Raymond and Fauna but the rest of my villagers are villagers that the internet rarely, if not, never acknowledges.
I have no played ACs before New Horizon, so I did not know people were so interested on having specific characters. :D I just mostly got whatever I saw first, but I like them all. I think my favorite is Buzz. :_D He lowkey flirts with my character and is fun eagle design. But I have noticed that basically all my characters are also "nobodies" for the ACNH community. I do have Apple, who sometimes seems to make the cut and appear in popular lists.

I think New Horizons took away the charm of the series by removing emphasis on interacting with villagers in favor of more customization and new features. Sure terraforming is cool and all but the repetition of the dialogue sends NH straight to the spot for worst game in the series imo

Right?? I remember with new leaf the tutorial lasted so long and I just had so much fun doing it and talking to Isabelle. Now new horizons is basically a free for all, and has no real direction. At least with new leaf there was the goal of unlocking all the shops and buildings. As well as ordinances and town works projects. I love the freedom new horizons gives with island decorating, but often I just find myself wandering around my island and procrastinating doing daily tasks.
What I want to know is why the side and back rooms in our house can’t be expanded. I don’t necessarily need more room for storage, but having more space in those other rooms would be nice

There is nothing wrong with updates, but I get what they mean. It just came out with missing features. Like the updates should feel supplemental and not like "additions" that should have already been there from the start. I get that terraforming probably took up a lot of development time probably, but if they needed more time, maybe AC should have had another delay. Then again, I do wonder how much more sparse ACNH would have looked like if it was released in 2019 like originally planned...And releasing in 2020 despite some of its incompleteness has been one hell of a blessing in these trying times.

With nh being so popular that's bringing in a lot of new people which is not bad but I also feel like the community is a lot more toxic rn and that's kinda ruining the fun for me. And I'm kinda sad that this might stay for a long time before the next big thing Nintendo releases. Like I've seen so many people being rude over this game. For instance the Raymond thing. I think everyone should enjoy the game and have their own opinions but don't start fires.

Part of me wishes they did a HD new leaf port earlier on in the switch life span, perhaps this could’ve tied us over until NH and then they could spend more time on NH so that the game is complete on release.
Even though I could see some people liking this, I believe it would have lead to a lot more criticism on new horizons as the games would be even more similar. I would probably play both regardless but it just doesn’t seem like quite the correct solution

I had Megan for a while and she was so nice! She was my first normal villager and now I have 3 normal villagers. I think that says something about me
judy and audie are my first and second favorite respectively of the new villagers, and i got both on my island through good deals that thankfully didnt cost an arm or leg, in game of course, i like raymond but i already got my cat with rosie as i only do one species per villager for variety and i love my rosie bud so much, megan and sherb along with dom and reneigh are great too, and i dare say megan is the best bear villager, not including the cubs, cyd is great too, but no one wants him, its about the looks mostly.

1. Definitely an unpopular one for me. I just can’t seem to adjust to the soundtrack. It doesn’t mean I dislike it, not at all (10 AM is my jam!) but it isn’t like it was with Animal Crossing and Wild World, where I would play the game at certain hours to make sure I didn’t miss certain tunes. It took me around 4 to 6 weeks to adjust to New Leaf, but we’ve long passed that timeframe and I barely feel anything for this music. * shrug * It is what it is.
2. I’m with this guy. Bunny Day was not as bad as people made it out to be. Not only did the hate probably involve that so many people were stuck at home, but at that point in time, people really just wanted to focus on shaping their islands, and materials were so hard to come across! I went really slow and steady with my crafting and building because I am sharing my Switch with my spouse and I didn’t want to get so ahead in the game that his contributions just feel like an afterthought. So I was more focused and enjoying the event for what it was.
3. Of course. Because the quality of video games has gone up so high, games require so much more work and game companies want the return to reflect that level of professionalism and attention. From a business and profit standpoint, I think it’s absolutely genius to encourage people to play their games for as long as possible and having little updates scattered throughout several years might encourage people to play the game as it was intended to be played. Not that it isn’t annoying, but it’s kinda nice to have something new to look forward to without the risk of getting it too early and being bored with it fast.
4. Mmnah. Not feeling it. I’m a bit of a boomer when it comes to that. I like to treat my Islanders like actual Islanders and not accessories to my island. It’s fun not knowing who is going to come to the campsite next or in my next NMT tour! Variety is the spice of life!

8. When I first laid eyes on Raymond, I thought he had a very charming design! It’s cute and unique and all of that, but ultimately, he has the same personality of any other villager in his category. I wouldn’t complain if he came to my island, but I’m not crying out for it, either.
9. It’s hard to rank AC games in this way because they are so far apart from each other that you are on different parts of your life when you play through them and you see things differently. I have loved every single AC game I have ever played and each one contributed a form of peace and happiness to my life that I needed at the time. I could never bring myself to rank them as games, but experiences. If that itself was a rating scale, the first game is still king to me.
10. When he was introduced in city folk, I thought the potential of growth would’ve been super fun. You got your little street urchin from polishing shoes going to owning his own business? I kind of wish that he had gotten his own store with a business partner or maybe even be treated as an expansion to the Able Sisters, considering they already sell shoes.
Royal Jordan I suppose I made point number 3 sound a little more absolute than I actually meant. I do agree with how you feel about the lackluster holidays. But I think a good thing about rolling out constant updates is that they have the opportunity to learn from each and every one. The wedding event may not be all that exciting, but it already goes beyond the stamp rally for offering more items as you return. I know Nintendo has a track record of being really selective with the feedback they listen to, But I’m glad they’ve given enough for me to enjoy the ride as I continue to hope for improvement.
I kinda wish they did more with Harvey's island, making it a cabin kinda area to replace the campsite where you could decorate and your villagers could interact with visitors

Unpopular opinion: Rodney is a villager I think gets way too much hate. I disagree with how he's usually seen as one of the ugliest villagers because I think he's adorable and just a bit flawed. He just moved to my island a few days ago and he's become one of my favorites with how funny he is. I also like how his house is a game room, and in New Leaf, he says he's a fan of Luigi's Mansion.
I had Rodney in NL! He doesn’t deserve any of the hate he is getting now! He’s like my favorite cat villager Stinky: adorably ugly. 😊
