the character expansion for gears and guns is awesome, too. It comes with survivors based on characters from The Three Amigos, Wild Wild West, and Back to the Future. Not sure where the blond gal or the dancing girl are from, though.
Thanks for this review. I just got both undead or alive and gears/guns for my birthday and i'm finding the base game insanely difficult, but I think it can really be impacted if you're not using the "right" characters. For instance, having someone with 'jump' would have shortened the base-game tutorial mission by 15-30 min and would have also made it profoundly easier. Without Jump the only way I was able to survive it was by using May's hit-and-run to get in and out of the building next to the left-most spawn point.
Mission 1 I have yet to win though I've tried like 3 times. I can capture all the objectives but just get overrun by brutes and/or runners. The number of abomination cards in the deck is downright sadistic. I also can't get the playtime anywhere near what the book says for the individual missions. I think my last session was almost 2 hours.
aside from the grueling difficulty, I play this with my wife and my 6yo, who actually doesn't need as much help as you'd think. I can't wait to try out Gears and Guns, but really wanted to get through the base first. I'll be at it for a while.

Agree that the game is hard but man, the fun factor is top notch for me. Love the classes, definitely a fan of this game

the characters, yes. The weapons and equipment are replaced by the new weapons and equipment.
