I normally don't like Zombicide, but this one is my favorite and I actually find it to be quite fun. I would have agreed with Milla's criticisms at first, when I lost the majority of the games and was frustrating, feeling like the game was "mostly luck". But in reality, I was just struggling with managing the new hunger mechanic properly, which adds some much needed strategy to the Zombicide system. My win rate has since significantly improved, making me feel like the game is not mostly luck. Now when I win, I feel like it's because of good play, and the games I lost when I first started were due to poor play.
I couldn't agree with this more. My group has racked up plenty of wins. When we play we find ourselves really looking at the board, manipulating our hunger, really considering turn order, and taking risks. Sure, there's A LOT of luck (that's not rare in board games 🤷🏾♂️), but you can manage it somewhat with good strategies.
Played this game 8 times at 2 players. For me its the best zombiecide system, once there's some more content, it will probably be my only zombiecide.
it's worth noting that this game is pretty much guaranteed to have an insane amount of free bonus content support from the community, and almost certainly from CMON as well. Zombicide Vanilla and Black Plague still get free downloadable quests from CMON, and there are like settlement management sims and campaigns and who knows what else that the fan community has cooked up. now add the Marvel fandom on top of that. we will have content to last us the rest of our lives. :)

The zombie heroes aren't "anti-heroes", they are straight up villains.
I only have Heroes Resistance but if Scarlet Witch is anything like she is in that game, you need to attack her at range. Her card “Super heroes must reroll all hits while in her zone”. Careful, don’t make the game harder than it needs to be.
I'm glad this is the first and only Zombicide game I own (once it all arrives in the 2nd wave)
Did you already get the first wave and are happy with it. Or are you glad because you dislike it and it's the only one you have? 😅
@@millr8222no, I'm glad it will be the only one I own when the 2nd wave delivers because it seems like one of the better versions and thus I won't need to replace it with another similar game anytime soon.

The first one I got was the black Plague and when green horde came out.. the pricing of zombicide was never that expensive but im amaze its 100 dollar plus now. I enjoy zombicide a lot honestly. But hardly have anyone wanting to play it because it can be a very long game within my family or friends. But If I have to rank it, its probably one of my favorite board game.
I think I mirror a lot of the other people here in the comments section, this is my first and only Zombicide game. I backed it for the theme, I have been waiting for CMON to put out a Zombicide I could get into and this one fired on all cylinders!
Personally, having played this multiple times (~5) I've lost twice. Played at medium and hard level. I understand the swingyness and it can feel frustrating. However, I'm surprised they were talking about how hard it is. I put it at mid level difficulty for a co-op game. Certainly easier than say spirit island (obviously more luck here). Only complaint is that it feels a little light because of the heavy dice mechanics, but that's what this game is so you'll either like it or you won't. Personally, I think it's great at what it promises to be a fun, thematic, dice chucker.
Zombicide: Undead or Alive is still my favorite system. So thematic and difficult.
I love undead or alive and man it’s pretty difficult. I’m curious to anyone if Marvel is easier or harder then undead or alive. The make it sound like marvel is the hardest but couldn’t tell for sure. Went all in on UoA and I have been playing and painting it. Love it. I just got base Marvel I’m sure I will love it also if it is as difficult as the say
I got Undead Or Alive, was excited, then they released the Marvel Zombies campaign on KS and was deflated. I thought. Oh great, now I got an obsolete game. Turns out, I was so very wrong. Undead or Alive is now my favourite Zombicide. So much fun. The difficulty is perfect! And the feel of the game - you need to be constantly moving. UoA makes me want to get rid of my Black Plague
@@kidunderabridge I'm sure UoA and MZ are both great as they are both recent iterations of the system after many improvements have been made. Just makes sense. I've never played UoA, but it sure looks fun. I can, however, say that I can never go back to BP after playing MZ, so this doesn't surprise me in regards to UoA.
Super pumped to get my copy and the extra content when wave 2 fulfills! I've been playing Heroes Resistance and really enjoying it, but I need more heroes
I get this. I have the base game and my gaming group is working through the missions, but we're all so excited for all the new content. The new heroes and zombies are going to make every mission we already played feel brand new.
I love the variability of all the different playable characters, but I also love the insane variability of the Abomination (Hero or Zombie) spawns: I'm excited to just shuffle everything together and see what happens with every card flip. Will it be Cyclops showing up to stop us (or devour us)? Or Drax? Or Giant Man? Or Red Skull and his army of undead Hydra soldiers? It's going to be insane. I was talking to someone who said they plan on playing through each scenario and removing the Abomination card after each enemy is defeated so that you are encountering different enemies every game.
Scarlet witch is easy to beat if you use wasp or stark and hit her in a different area so you don’t have to reroll your hits
Yeah my play throughs she's really easy to take down with wasp. Wasp is incredibly good
Yep. The only super heroes (from the core box) I'm kinda afraid of are Thor because of the double damage, and black panther. Since he gets 1 action plus 1 for each danger level, and super heroes activate twice, it means if he happens to be 3 spaces away from a zombie hero, he's gonna one-shot that zombie hero
There is also the other one from the KS campaign, where you play as human heroes against zombies, a version that is not the mass market one.
It's too bad that you can't get both modes in one box.
All in all the whole Marvel Zombies (campaign) had the problem that it was way too big, too much at once, not affordable. And it's a game where you really want all those characters in both versions (human and zombie). Too much, too expensive!
I strongly believe they should have allowed two wave payments for two wave orders. There was a lot of people asking for them to reopen the pledge manager in order to add stuff, but they never did.
I skipped fantastic four, sentinel strike and artist edition. The first one because of lack of interest, but the other two because of price. That was more than half a year ago. I ended up ordering sentinel strike from the game steward. Let's see how that goes out, but I've only read good comments about them.
I play with a "we arent gonna do that" with spawn cards. But having awesome moments but end up losing is how I feel described the game.
Very excited to get my all-in (minus Galactus 😥) pledge when single wave shipping happens. I'm definitely more interested in playing as the heroes against the zombies though. I did pick up the Heroes' Resistance box as well but I haven't had a chance to play it yet.
I went all in minus Galactus as well. Is there anything in the Heroes Resistance box that is not part of the all-in pledge?

a) unique alternate sculpts for the minis (heroes and zombie heroes)
b) standees of "standard zombies" instead of SHIELD agents and zombie Marauders
c) slightly altered player powers for hero characters
I mean, I love this game and as someone who DID get everything including Galactus, I think you made the right choice. Same as with Cthulhu in DMD, it's an obscene amount of money for ONE single scenario. You chose well, truly.

@@commandershepard9920 It's gonna sting watching those Facebook photos of everyone unboxing their Galactus pledge, but realistically I would probably play the scenario once if at all. Maybe I'll be able to proxy something with the Marvel United Galactus that's coming.
I haven’t played Zombicide since the first edition over ten years ago, it was a game my buddy owned. I remember it being fun, I’m not sure which version I would go for now, thematically I like black plague, too many versions to choose from now lol.
My table really enjoyed this game. Played only three missions but everyone was down to play it again. 8/10 is about right for this game. Great review.
So looking forward to my all-in Kickstarter landing. As a big Marvel fab and Zombicide fan, this was a no brainer for me and mad excited to get this to the table!

I wish this would have been "Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron - A Zombicide Game". How cool would this be with normal Marvel Heroes and a hord of Ultron's drones? Those would feel more natural moving in waves like zombies. And I still don't like playing an undead Iron Man ;)

I hope there will be more mini expansion for Marvel zombicide or Season 2. Just like death may die by Cmon.(we need more zombie heros and Heros).

I’m really glad I skipped this one and went all-in on DCeased.
Items are back, zombie mode is out, and you’re fighting actual zombies instead of Multiple Man. I also have read both Marvel Zombies and DCeased, and DCeased is much better.
I do like both better than the other Zombicides because instead of random abominations where you have to learn and remember how they are different, the known superheroes are kind of a short-hand on how they probably act. You have an idea on what they do even before reading the card.
In some games, you aren't supposed to win XD Winning and losing is both sides of the same game.

Can this version be combined with Heroes' Resistance so you can play Heroes or Zombies?
Yes, you can combine this with Heroes' Resistance and have all the tools you need to play both modes and use all heroes.
A very watered down version of what will be available later this year... But yeah
I think I've heard that the zombie spawn deck in Heroes Resistance is balanced for the smaller game, which may make the scenarios easier than intended, and you only get zombie standees instead of the mutant themed zombie minis from X-Men Resistance.
I really like the spawn mechanism of Undead Alive. Its way better than the kick down the door. That being said im excited to try this one once it all comes in

I think I'm over Zombicide for good. I own Second Ed with Prison and Mall expansions and played that quite a bit when I first got it. Played few other versions here and there and they all feel pretty samey to me. I'm happy you enjoyed it but to me the system is not THAT good too keep playing what's basically the same game with slightly different theme over and over.
I hear you on the burnout, but MZ feels like CMON has learned from previous games and has improved the system. I would say that I don't even like previous Zcide games, but this has become my gaming group's favorite.
It's wild how ruffled people are by this game. So many people have never played it and hate it so much. It's review bombed on BGG and people here are salty about it too 🤷🏾♂️ It made it's money. I don't think anyone's opinion really matter... That being said 😅 it's a super fun game that my group find ourselves laughing and agonizing over. It's probably obvious, but I wonder why THIS is getting the hate?? The license? The newness? The rule changes? The price? Good, old-fashioned jealousy???
Number 1 reason is definitely price, if you look through bgg comments was the outrageous shipping charges applied in addition to pledge amount. Some folks paid $600 for the game and another $600 for shipping. It leaves a bad taste... But then again this is kind of just what CMON does with gluttonous campaigns and way to many boxes of stuff.
@@Tsotanga2 I gotta thumbs up this. I get it. It wasn't cheap, but it's not like many other games are as or more expensive. Also, all games (especially games this big and expensive) are luxury items. No one is forcing anyone to buy the games CMON priced it at what they thought people were willing to pay and they were almost $10 million dollars (not counting shipping) right. Also, also (sorry) if someone paid $600, they went "All In". That's a choice in yet another choice. The base game was $130!
@@MrJDog3000 Yup, I agree pretty much completely. Though in this case, CMON was particularly bad in that their shipping actuals were substantially higher than estimates from the Kickstarter page. That hundreds-of-dollars delta ticked folks off and potentially impacted CMON/customer relations. Or at least that's what I remember from the drama - I'm too poor to back it lol

Happy I passed on this game . I’ve bought several ks zombicide . Black plague , green horde, 2nd Ed . After 1 or 2 plays of each one I just lose interest. I think death may die and the new 2nd edition massive darkness is a more solid choice. Thanks for the review .
As someone who has played and owns both, I actually like Marvel Zombies better than DMD. Don't know about MD2 though.
Many of Camilla's flaws really hurt this. You'd think about how many Zombicide games that they have made that they would have fixed this "player balancing" aspect.

Every time I've played a Zombicide game I've been relieved when it's over... the mechanics are just so boring :/
The plug & play comment from Tom is a turn off for me. It should be a full experience right out of the box. The way CMON plays these psychological FOMO games with customers reminds me a bit of Magic: The Gathering. I'll pass.
I don't understand this FOMO argument. You literally get like 70% of content just by getting the core pledge on KS. You get so many KS stretch goals, it makes it worth. Plus this time they also did the Daily Bugle which was even more value/content.
FOMO is not a real thing when CMON offers you the ability to pick and choose what you want. NO one is forcing people to get everything.
If you just back base pledge with MOST CMON titles the value is ridiculous! They make most/all their money on the add-ons and all in pledges. I almost always back at the base pledge because you get soooo much content!
I like Marvel, and I like zombies. I just don't like CMON.

CMON are pretty great. They give us awesome characters, and so much value in the KS, just by getting the core (with all the stretch goals). Plus, their games are pretty freaking great.

Oh I can. I haven't liked a single game that they've released thus far. None of their games click with me, so for that, I don't like them as a company. They're just not my thing. Pretty simple.

This theme seems absurd, which is really saying something considering this is Zombicide! I'll stick with Black Plague, which I bought new for half of what this kickstarter cash grab costs.

Marvel Zombies is actually a thing. A few comics were printed with this as a story line. But I agree everything Marvel right now is just a cash grabs
I thought the same until I learned about marvel zombies and I actually found it to be an interesting concept. there are comics to read or there is a single “what if” episode about it.

I’m not feeling this game, fantasy games are about wish fulfillment. I seriously wonder who has a fantasy about being a zombie who has lost everyone they cared about, been reanimated by god knows what, and driven by a hunger for brains and possibly to spread your plague. Hard pass just based on the theme.
