Covering that 115 year old hickory stock with spay paint instead of linseed oil and not bluing the metal was a mistake IMO, the model 65 little krag is a scarce youth rifle and to find one so complete is rare, fortunately it could be returned to its factory finish relatively easily.

I think he did fine I'd personally do a blued finish or leave it how it was just clean it up. One thing I didn't like about what he did was keeping the original stock by gluing it together. Being a .22 it's probably not that bad but I would've made a new one. Also it's not his rifle and this is what the owner wanted so yeah

Yeah I wasn’t a fan of the black paint either but the guy wanted it to match the other guys in his collection
