Just wanted to say that I am planning my 3rd trip to Japan and just stumbled upon your amazing videos. All really well done, straight to the point and super useful.
For people who’ve not been to Kyoto, the locations featured in Kyoto at the end of the video are in Kinkakuji 45 min by bus from Kyoto station; Arashiyama (Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple, bamboo forest) an hour by bus from Kyoto station plus walking/bus; Kiyomizu Dera 20 min bus from Kyoto Station plus 20 min uphill walk in human traffic in Kyoto center…and all these sites are in different corners of the city. In short, if you decide to do a “day trip” to Kyoto, get up early and pick 2 to 3 spots at the most. And if you decide to go to Arashiyama, then 2 spots total at the most. Arashiyama is a town with tons of temples, a bridge, a monkey park, bamboo forests and would take multiple days on its own.
Osaka is amazing, and i feel like its so much cheaper then Tokyo as well, i might have been lucky regarding when i book but most of my hotels (sure not the best hotels but still a hotel) for around 25->30$a night in Osaka and that being a stone throw away from the Dotinbori river. My go to spot for both breakfast and to get an starter drink (highball) i always go to Umiya Cafe Westpoint, cheese sado + a highball will be around 1050->1200 yen depending on what sandwich you go for.
My daughter is in Osaka this weekend. I sent this to her but I’m positive she’s already planned. There’s a good chance she ends up there. She loves it.
When my wife and I visited Japan almost ten years ago, we spent a week in Tokyo and a week in Osaka. I have almost no notable memories from our time in Tokyo, but that week in Osaka was full of rich and wonderful experiences. When we visit again, we're going to skip right past Tokyo to go to Osaka right away
I'm here in Osaka now, all of this video is 100% accurate. The only thing is that the bikes that don't get locked are rental bikes with a pay-per-distance app so you don't have to worry about the bike. Also, not mentioned, when you're buying stuff in Japan as a traveller, keep your passport with you so that you get tax incentives. Lastly, remember to do everything as early as you can as everywhere gets really really busy throughout the day and stays busy late into the night! Thanks for making this video, it was helpful to learn from prior to arriving.
@@nanwu3650 if you want to buy something expensive in Japan as a tourist, they will give you a form so you can reclaim the taxes but you have to prove you’re a tourist, so bring your passport if you go shopping
Also to add as you didnt seem to mention it, in Japan as a foreigner you need to have your passport on you at all time! not only for tax reasons. You can get in trouble with law (i've never been asked about this though i look like a propper punk so i dont think they want to ask me) worst case scenario they will take you to the station for not being able to show a valid passport (the passport will state your validity av stay hence why you need it) if your hotel / where you stay is close by they might escort you to inspect your passport. though i would not risk it. ALWAYS bring your passport.
@@Jellyfish60 a lot of countries have taxfree shopping, but that means often you need to provide the details of your stay to get the tax return. like i bought i bottle of whisky for 9000yen, and i was returned 900 yen just on that one bottle. Note that they prepack the gods and you cannot get tax refund on any thing you're planing on consuming there. so make sure you do your shopping based on, this ill bring home, this i will eat/drink here
I've been to Osaka 3 times now and i still get both lost and stumble upon new things i didnt see on my other trips. I love it. Gotten my fair share of my local hangouts where pretty much all staff members know me by now xD
think this has more to do with start point or not. and i guess some also consider Shinkansen as local train. When i was in Namba google maps said around 1 hour 20 min with local trains.
Tbh its always a bit hard, i would have a pre printed card with your alergies and that you cannot eat meat or anything that has been involvde with meet. I've met only a few vegetarians in Japan and they seem a little loose on the interpetation of vegetarism, as they dont mind eating stock that has had meat inn it. just not the meat itself. I would also be a little worried about miso soup that is made with dashi and dashi can be all sort of fish stock. Currently Hanna used to be a vegetarian and have some great early days content for vegetarians, there should also be an app to assist with vegetarian options.
Hey i can i see that you have a tattoo on your left wrist but got into spa world? I was under the impression that you were not allowed to enter onsen’s or pools with tattoos in Japan? Would be awesome if you could please clarify how you managed to get in as we are going in two weeks and I really want to try out the spa world
I have been rejected for tattoos in Japan before. At that spa they didn’t say anything. But in some places they will reject you. I don’t fully know all the rules there.
There is no general rule or law in japan concerning tatoos in baths. I asked in a hakone onsen and the guy was just laughing and said »no problem«. Otherwise if their regular customers are more on the elderly conservative side, they will most certainly say no.
If it's small enough you can buy patches to cover it up then you dont need to think about it, if its to big i would search up the place in advance to make sure it is tattoo friendly.
the video has an inaccurate section. You say you can climb the outside of Tsutenkaku tower, but after searching for it, I am pretty sure that it is not available to the public. The helmets are only for the slide.
Hi, i love your video! It’s fun! Anyway, why did you mentioned that you had lots of Wagyu in Osaka than anywhere before? I wanna go for a culinary trip, do you think Osaka’s food is cheaper and more delicious than in Tokyo? Some people said that the food in Osaka is cheaper than in Tokyo. Thank you beforehand! ❤
the pun here lies in you're asking a question no one can answer without more details, are you asking how much you earn as a freelancer or how much one cost, and what sort of freelancer as there are several thousand jobs that have freelancers.
You could see half of Kyoto in one day. But 3 days to see it all because the sights are spread out. Maybe pick your top 5 things to do in Kyoto and do those
depends on how much you wanna see, and would suck if that one day is rainy. one thing a lot of first timers do wrong IMO is having a fully booked schedual at all times, and they are knackerd after running around 3 days.

One big reason was that Kobe is nearby Osaka. Where famous Kobe beef comes from
Osaka is called the kitchen of Japan for good reason, sure you find great affordable food in Tokyo, but, Osaka is on a different level.
