    For people who’ve not been to Kyoto, the locations featured in Kyoto at the end of the video are in Kinkakuji 45 min by bus from Kyoto station; Arashiyama (Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple, bamboo forest) an hour by bus from Kyoto station plus walking/bus; Kiyomizu Dera 20 min bus from Kyoto Station plus 20 min uphill walk in human traffic in Kyoto center…and all these sites are in different corners of the city. In short, if you decide to do a “day trip” to Kyoto, get up early and pick 2 to 3 spots at the most. And if you decide to go to Arashiyama, then 2 spots total at the most. Arashiyama is a town with tons of temples, a bridge, a monkey park, bamboo forests and would take multiple days on its own.

      Osaka is amazing, and i feel like its so much cheaper then Tokyo as well, i might have been lucky regarding when i book but most of my hotels (sure not the best hotels but still a hotel) for around 25->30$a night in Osaka and that being a stone throw away from the Dotinbori river.
      My go to spot for both breakfast and to get an starter drink (highball) i always go to Umiya Cafe Westpoint, cheese sado + a highball will be around 1050->1200 yen depending on what sandwich you go for.

    I'm here in Osaka now, all of this video is 100% accurate. The only thing is that the bikes that don't get locked are rental bikes with a pay-per-distance app so you don't have to worry about the bike.
    Also, not mentioned, when you're buying stuff in Japan as a traveller, keep your passport with you so that you get tax incentives.
    Lastly, remember to do everything as early as you can as everywhere gets really really busy throughout the day and stays busy late into the night!
    Thanks for making this video, it was helpful to learn from prior to arriving.

    • @codydabest
      @codydabest 2 місяці тому

      @@nanwu3650 if you want to buy something expensive in Japan as a tourist, they will give you a form so you can reclaim the taxes but you have to prove you’re a tourist, so bring your passport if you go shopping

      tax incentives? is this some american thing?

    • @deaddrunkgamer7399
      @deaddrunkgamer7399 2 місяці тому

      Also to add as you didnt seem to mention it, in Japan as a foreigner you need to have your passport on you at all time! not only for tax reasons.
      You can get in trouble with law (i've never been asked about this though i look like a propper punk so i dont think they want to ask me) worst case scenario they will take you to the station for not being able to show a valid passport (the passport will state your validity av stay hence why you need it)
      if your hotel / where you stay is close by they might escort you to inspect your passport.
      though i would not risk it.
      ALWAYS bring your passport.

    • @deaddrunkgamer7399
      @deaddrunkgamer7399 2 місяці тому

      @@Jellyfish60 a lot of countries have taxfree shopping, but that means often you need to provide the details of your stay to get the tax return.
      like i bought i bottle of whisky for 9000yen, and i was returned 900 yen just on that one bottle.
      Note that they prepack the gods and you cannot get tax refund on any thing you're planing on consuming there.
      so make sure you do your shopping based on, this ill bring home, this i will eat/drink here

      Tbh its always a bit hard, i would have a pre printed card with your alergies and that you cannot eat meat or anything that has been involvde with meet.
      I've met only a few vegetarians in Japan and they seem a little loose on the interpetation of vegetarism, as they dont mind eating stock that has had meat inn it. just not the meat itself.
      I would also be a little worried about miso soup that is made with dashi and dashi can be all sort of fish stock.
      Currently Hanna used to be a vegetarian and have some great early days content for vegetarians, there should also be an app to assist with vegetarian options.

      There is no general rule or law in japan concerning tatoos in baths. I asked in a hakone onsen and the guy was just laughing and said »no problem«. Otherwise if their regular customers are more on the elderly conservative side, they will most certainly say no.
