You’ve already clarified this topic for me before in the comment section on your other video but I do appreciate you taking the time to make a video about this topic
I appreciate you asking. Your question gave me the idea of doing the video.
@@FunGoingFast that’s wasup
God damn…you brought me some nostalgia for me tonight. I do went from Z400 to YFZ450 back when it first released in 2004. I still remember the first time I rode it and punched it in 3rd gear and was like “holy sh@t!”. What a rocket ship….I also remember the first time I beat my friends DS650 on it ☺️…good times.
Get a new YFZ450R or Raptor 700R while u still can! Yamaha still makes em. Expensive but worth it. Forever machines! -Ohio
Own a '10 YFZ450R & '21 Raptor 700R-SE both mint. Love em! -Ohio
AWSOME VID MAN! THX
Thanks!
Good one!!
Love the Raptors but Yfz like you say like revs. and are way more fun for my own style.
My kid is 13 and got a 350 warrior as comp. to his cross but when he did try the 450 it was no return, so his friend got the warrior, and he got a 450 and still today his favorite. :)
Just get one and find out. I had a blaster as a Kid and it was fun AF.
Might sound incredible but I learn how to ride a quad on a YFZ450 lol, so far, Ive never crashed or fell of the ATV, the thing is a beast and I was scared of pushing it but 2 years later I feel super comfortable pushing it now and I love it!
Thats a serious atv to start on. Well done!
My first is a 2023 YFZ450R. I love it.
Good information, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Man, you did an excellent job with this video! Looks like after October 1st I'll be able to run around in utv on a lot of NC roads. That should open up some fun dirt back roads. Great stuff bud. See you later.
Thanks Rodney! I appreciate you taking the time to watch. So what’s happening October 1st???
@@FunGoingFast www.ncleg.gov/Sessions/2021/Bills/Senate/PDF/S241v6.pdf
Apparently NC Senate passed a bill that will allow the street legal use of UTVs on most roads and some highways In the state, beginning Oct. 1st. There's some restrictions on which highways you can and can't go on.
@@ROCKINRODNEY Very cool. I hadn't heard about that. Thanks for sharing.
@@FunGoingFast yeah no problem. I'm trying to find out if the Blue Ridge Parkway is exempt from this or not. Could be cool to be the first to run from the VA-NC border to the other end in UTVs, if they're legal as part of this resolution.
@@ROCKINRODNEY Excellent question. I read the bill and it states any two lane road with 55 mph or under or 4 lane road 35 mph or under unless expressly prohibited. My guess will be you could until someone changes it. :). Looks like a guy just outside of Boone got this started to protect his SxS rental business. Interesting stuff. That would be a great ride.
Lowered and widened my 2010 700 and I love it, it’s now nimble and handles like the YFZ ( also owned a yfz)
Nice! That seems like the key. And you have reverse.
Both incredible & must have for sport quad lovers! I'm lucky to have both. Never selling either. '10 YFZ450X Bill Ballance edition & '21 Raptor 700R-SE. Both less than 5hrs actual use. Tryin to find a '22-23 YFZ450R now. Nearly impossible. Enjoy! -Ohio
Nice!
For the dunes , trail riding and longevity I went raptor, but to each their own.
But the 450 is wider
@CB Radio hell yeah man that 450 sure is fun to throw around
Amazing quads! Keep it up!
Thanks!
I had a 04 yfz back in 06 was hella fun quad loved turning it fast and doing 🍩 on it
They can corner like no other.
Raptor 700 motor is a beast! 2015 model or up that is
Super Video 👍👍
Thanks!
Great video
Thanks!
Just got myself an 06 450 yfz. This is my first quad. Will definitely start slow haha
Wow you are jumping in head first! Enjoy though. They are a blast.
Nice video, i totally agree with you point of view.
The raptor is feels much bigger. The power of the raptor is real instant but the yfz is more focused. I like the raptor more but I am a big guy, if you are smaller I think you can ride the yfz beter
Great feedback. Thanks for watching.
I got my 05 YFZ brand new and it's still running strong till this day.
One owner. Nice!
Nice, what all maintenance have you had to do?
Give us updated riding video bro! Get out this way & let's go riding. 2 big ORV parks by me. 1 in Eastern Indiana.. & another better one in SE Michigan. 💯👍🏻
Haha. I know. Its been awhile. I ended up selling the YFZ450 but Im holding onto the Raptor. And hoping to get put again soon. Thanks for the invite! And for watching and commenting.
Yfz handles like it’s on rails! Think it and it does it!
What your is your 450X? I had a 2010 and it definitely ripped but I found it tiring to ride aggressively. I didn't notice that with the 450R. Maybe I just had mine set up wrong.
@@FunGoingFast I want
I just got a 2017 yfz450r and its modded. so it has even more power. and its scary fast.....I used to ride as a kid and i still have some skills but nothing even remotely close to ride this quad to its limits.
Haha. Enjoy!
I lowered my raptor 660 do more drag racing put blaster shocks on front to get it low and lowered the back also but dam hard to keep the front wheels down lol and it's mild at best I have a 103 mm piston stage 3 hot cam white values and just waiting on the stroker crank see how much difference it will make hard to beat those dam 700 lol
So far the raptor is top heavy like the predator. More natural than the predator.
Yfz is still my baby. Wish mine wasnt dead.
I’ve always enjoyed the yfz’s over the raptors. Raptor always just felt unsteady on trails and were a bit tippy while the yfz is always planted
I can see that. The wider rear axle helps a lot on Raptors with that but hard to beat the YFZs handling.
Still trying to decide on my first sports quad considering a ltr or kfx but the yfz looks good too
The KFX and LTZ make great first sport/trail quads. They have plenty od power, good suspension and reverse which you miss more than you think on the trail. The YFZ is definitely faster and much more capable on the track. But it has a taller first gear, more aggressive ergonomics, and stiffer suspension. I started with a z400 going from automatics and it worked really well.
Hi, I do have a SE raptor 700 and was in the market to get another quad is the yfz trouble some regarding engine gearbox i know 5 value titanium is pricy, performance motor are reliable, and suspension i do trails, dunes, but love tracks with jumps atm i use a blaster because i just bought the raptor i have to adjust the shocks for jumps i dont want to break the frame, you obviously got alot of knowledge and experience with both of them,
The YFZs I owned were all very reliable. I ride fast but dont feel like I abuse things. I always use the clutch when shifting and never had any transmission issues. And I really liked the slipper clutch and transmission on my 21 YFZ. Its a killer machine for power slides and jumps for sure.
@@FunGoingFast thanks for feedback but I was looking at the 2004-2008, not the 2021 way outa my budget,
Curious as to why you went back to the carb coming from the X. Dimensionally they are close to the same.
Also it's the Indian not the arrow. Patrick Riggs was able to pull away from Pete's 450r on his z400.
Hello. Thanks for watching.Warning long reply. I dont buy any machine to try to out do anyone or race competitively so I dont buy machines thinking my arrow will now be faster than someone elses. I support anyone in the hobby and I say people should get what they enjoy riding the most, whatever brand, size, category that works for them. Its my favorite hobby and I get things I enjoy personally. For me the X was very tiring to ride (coming from a fit person who works out regularly and mtn bikes) so I saw no point in keeping it. The ergonomics were different and I didnt like the handling or way it absorbed bumps, rocks, etc. The 04 I had before it and the 03 I got after didn’t have those issues. Nor does my Raptor. They dropped the X from the lineup so I apparently I wasnt the only one who wasnt a big fan. If it works for others great. No question they are fast.
I prefer EFI to carb but I dont have an unlimited budget and have other toys. And I have a weakness for “great deals” which may not always work out in my favor. But I found the 2nd carb YFZ for $1,000 with no major issues until I managed to snap the chain which in turn broke the case (no chain saver of course). For that price Ill happily pull the choke on a cold day. But now Im back to EFI with my Raptor. So thats how Ive ended up where I am. And Ive had fun getting here.
This was very informative... 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I'm in the market for my first quad and I've been looks at these two quads as possible choices..... What's ur thought on the renegade??
Thank you for watching and for the feedback. Im a big Can Am Renegade fan as well. I had a 500 for awhile and really enjoyed it. I have a review on it as well. These are both aggressive sport quads made for sliding, jumping amd going as fast as you can. The Renegades are also fast but are more much heavier. They are also more comfortable and can handle technical terrain with ease. But cant do big jumps and can habe good power but womt accelerate like a sport quad. If you are just getting into quads the Renegade would probably be the better choice. If you have ridden for awhile and are pretty aggressive then the Raptor or YFZ are a blast.
@@FunGoingFast thanks bro...real appreciate these gems ur dropping on me..definitely gonna subscribe 👏🏽😁
@@mkphotography3873 You are welcome. Thanks for taking the time to watch and subscribe.
I own both, yfz if your young, raptor 700r if you 50 like me! 😃
haha. I can see the wisdom in that. I'm 47. Having both is definitely the way to go if you can. And maybe a Grizzly with power steering when you really want to be lazy.
Iv had many of both. Way more fun on the 700R!!
How old are you
The biggest thing people need to know in my opinion is the ride of both. Raptor is way softer than the yfz. You gotta ride the yfz fast to get the reward Out of the suspension or it will beat on you on long trail rides. Raptor is made to relax and ride slower if you want to. Don’t get me wrong the raptor is a badass threw the whoops and rough stuff at high speeds
Agreed 100%.
Can’t decide on my first quad 400, 450, or 700 ? Will the 400 have enough power I have very minimal quad experience! Thanks !
A 400 is a great place to start. They are very quick but are a little easier to trail ride and habe reverse. Good luck!
Question... I'm 6'5" 270 I ride 2019 YZ450F now looking for a quad.. Looking at the Can Am DS 650 but would love a Raptor 700. What's the leg room on the 700 for big guys?
Ive never ridden a DS 650 but I feel like you’d probably be pretty comfortable in a Raptor 700. Sneak over to a show room and hop on one, if you can just to see. But they have some of the best ergonomics of any ATV I’ve ridden, and definitely the best of sport ATVs. The Suzuki Z400s I really comfortable for people that are 6 feet under, but I feel like you would not have any issues on the raptor.
@@FunGoingFast Good idea going to the dealer... Thank you sir
If i take my spark arrester out my stock exhaust will it run lean?
It shouldnt affect it other than making it sound a little different.
YFZ all day
Raptor all the way
Where are the trails you are riding?
Most of the footage was shot at Brushy Mountain Motorsports Park in Taylorsville North Carolina. Its an amazing place to trail ride. A few clips were from Brown Mountain in Collettsville North Carolina.
Nice job.ive rode both n own a 700r raptor named satan.much better for trails.i name my qaud that because the last 3 digits on her vin r 666.not that she a bad qaud at all.quite the opposite. Been on all kinds of rides n satan is the best bye far.once again grt job on description.
Hahaha. Great name! Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
Which one is more reliable all around?
Good question. Yamaha makes fairly reliable machines so I think they are fairly comparable. The Raptor doesn't have to work as hard to ride fast so it may get a slight nod in reliability compared to the YFZ if you are revving the YFZ out all the time. But both can take a beating and keep going.
Raptor 700 :)
Haha. Good choice.
@@FunGoingFast Never ride 450, but I am sure both are great machine, but for me 700 has benefits!!!
The yfz450r is durable fast Dependable has got the strength in the A-Arms all around the number one ATV if you go to any racing event you will never see a raptor on the track you couldn't give me a raptor LOL recently I sold a 2020 yfz450r and purchased a 2021 yfz450r and I had to wait 5 months to get it. They called me and offered me a raptor and I said you couldn't give me that thing for two grand LOL
I’m in the market for a new bike. 2022 Yfz 450r or the raptor 700r. My riding will consist of woods, dirt/gravel roads, and hard top. Having a hard time choosing what will fit me. I wanted the Yfz but more I look the raptor seems more what I should be getting. What one would you recommend? I know you said you wouldn’t take one for 2 grand lol just trying to get some insight
Bro same problem I need help
Hmmm how about the yfz 700
Now you are talking!
I’ll stick with my vespa!
Haha!
One of each lol
That works too.
Bought a yfz450r as my first quad and broke my femur within 45 minutes now I'm crippled for 4-6 months
Sorry to hear that!
The only thing a raptor has over the yfz is reverse
Never buy used shit, especially an atv. only Atv you buy used is a utility 4x4. why buy something you know someone beat the Fk out of it like a 450 or 700
LoL, because a new one is $10k!
I stay whit the 450s I got a suzuki ltr 450r and drives better than the raptor and is fast
Dud3, everyone under sells the 450. I wish I knew how insane this machine was b4 purchase. IT HAS ZERO CHILL. IT IS A RACE QUAD. THERE IS NO 1RST OR SECOND GEAR SIT DOWN TRAVEL. ITS RACE OR DONT RIDE. THE FASTER AND HARDER YOU RIDE IT, THE MORE "COMFORTABLE". THERE IS ZERO CHILL ON THE YFZ450, UNLESS YOU ARE ON ABSOLUTELY 1000000% FLAT GROUND. I am 6ft and 180lb in shape, I can't ride the 450 longer than 10min at a shot. It literally beats the fuck out of me l. I have a love/hate relationship with my 2021 yfz450 R SE. 😂
Haha. Well said!
