Jake, I'm not a motion designer as profession, but I have to use a lot of after effects in my workflow as a illustrator and (usually) graphic designer. I can't measure how much you helped me through some freelance gigs. I first got to know you in skillshare, and Im really diggin this clips. I've joined skillshare again, because of you (trying to learn a bit of the Duik, and you're the best teacher). So.. thanks for all your stuff and teaching style!
These are a great series! Just a doubt: isn't the same parenting directly from the pickwhip to the null scale property? What's the difference? Thanks in advance
If you do it that way, the scale isn't really a scale value anymore. At 100% you'd get a 100px wide circle. If you're ok with that, it works. My method with expressions scales whatever size you've set it to. So if you set it to a 500px width, then scale it down to 50%, you'll have a 250px wide circle.
Thanks a lot Jake for you fantastic Tutorials and help! I have question and I hope get the answer, or maybe you would make tutorial about it! With Universal Maps Downloader software you could download high quality different Map , We can use them for motion graphics? or They need special license? I know to use in App etc. you use connection between mobile and server and ..... , but for motion graphics what it the rule? Thank you :)
This is seriously THE BEST series on AE. Thank you SO MUCH for putting the time and effort into these videos!!
Thanks for the tips on these effects. I really liked the use you explained for the circle effect.

I think "stencil alpha" in Circle's blending modes is often a very useful option.
Jake is very creative.

Why did you use the toComp thing instead of just picking the position property? I didn't get the difference between the two methods.
In this specific case that technique would've worked, but toComp will work even if the null were parented to another layer.
@@JakeInMotion Thank you, Jake. You've been doing a great work.
videos on expressions please...
Look back to my oldest videos.

As you said, they seem useless
