Had to go in to see if animating the shape layer is reflected in the Radio Wave over time. I feel like that should have been mentioned, since it such a cool little thing that can be used.
Thanks for the in-depth walk-through. Thinking maybe applying this effect to a vector logo (as opposed to an image or footage) doesn't do the effect justice.
just found out about this channel and i love it!! i have a question tho. but i have a question about the "reflection" property, is it possible for the waves reflect upon themselves, for example, they're generated, hit the wall, and then bounce back, but if they hit new waves they bounce again. i think it would be cool
Is there a way to have this maintain stroke when I convert this into 3D? I want to make it seem like there is this pulse coming from the floor. but when I turn this into 3d, it feels like there is no rasterization, distored and ugly
I have a problem and cant figure it out since days.. i have a recktangle as a source of radiowafes. But the short sides are moving much farther away cause it is a recktangle but i have to have it even expanding. Can i mix effects that each line has the same expansion and is same distance..?
This is great and what i was searching for.. but my ae is so slow i can not look live as you when i whant to set the Direktion of the waves. but i have a relatively good Mac for this. Can anyone tell me why it is so slow? I have allready in the presettings gpu rendered. Sorry i am a complaete noob can anyone help?
How do I change the bit per channel color to 8? I get an error when generating radio waves, saying that using a 16 bit per channel project may reduce color precision
can i make the polygon seamlessly transform into another? all i could do was create copies that were different, but the ones generated before remained the polygon they were
Awesome tut. I have two solids in a comp with radio waves on both, I’m at half resolution, and they are choking the hell out of my timeline. I turn them off and everything is smooth as butter. I have a 2020 iMac with 128GB of ram and 16GB on my video card alone. My footage is on a 2TB SSD and my cache is on another 500GB SD, all ported into my iMac through two different TB3 hubs. My internal SSD drive has tons of room. I don’t get it. Any ideas, anyone?
@@JakeInMotion Thanks for the quick response, man. I try to do the same whenever possible! I'll make this as brief as possible but voice over and audio tech is my realm so excuse me if I don't nail all of the terminology for Ae. Here's what I have: The comp: The preset is HDTV 1080, so 1920x1080, square pixels, frame rate is set to 24 and "preview" is checked. I thought maybe the solids were the problem, but I just started a new comp and threw a solid with RW on it and didn’t touch a single effect adjustment. Same thing, slow as all get out. In fact, 1.46 sec per frame for the render at half res! In my Preview window on the right I don't have "cache before playback" checked either, and was told I shouldn't. No other effects on those solids. It's crazy!
@@JakeInMotion You're not going to believe what the issue was. I went on Creative Cow and asked. This guy Filip talked about the comp maybe being too long? Yeah, 15 minutes for some reason...anyway, I cut it to 40 seconds and now it's rendering ahead of real time at full res. LOL. Oh man...
Man, you are such a legend making all these videos... Such a massive added value to the motion design community.
This is so great. Thank you for being so thorough when walking through the panel and how everything works!
Great! Thanks Jake. This is a FX library for life.
This is AMAZING...I've said this before, but you really do make me feel like I don't know after effects🤣
Amazing tutorial and explained each property very well. Now I know a lot more about this effect. Thanks for sharing.
This is good effect for making a radar HUD as well 🙂
So glad you're back 🙏🏼
No doubts a comprehensive tutorial on waves, direct to point. Good work!
You are a gift, sir.
A really magic effect, loved this one, it has a lot of possibilities

Ok I learned something new about one of my favorite effects!! Thanks Jake!
Brilliant, thanks Jake, All you need to know explained clearly and methodically. Love it x
thank you your tutorials are gold
keep going ♥️ these videos are so helpful.. you doing great job 👍
Thank you Sir
Really cool and informative channel ever🔥🔥

thanks for the tutorial Jake, I was wondering if there a way to setup a transparent background?
Thank you!
Wow super! thank YOU
Hi ! You're tutorials are amazing. Could you please do an in depth tutorial on how to use text animators? Like, an advanced one?
I actually have already, but it's on Skillshare. Look up the ultimate guide to text animators in after effects.
@@JakeInMotion Omg okay thanks for the reply! ^^

This all worked for me perfectly, however, I need the Radio Waves to go backward into the "source". How do I reverse it?
If you animate the mask path, the waves will follow the new shape?
Try it.
superuseful bro
What if I want to fade the waves out like ripple stronge but then fade away from the last ring
Great tutorial! Just what I needed. BTW Gaussian is pronounced "gaooseean". Gauss was a phycisist/mathematician.
Another way to describe it to say that "Gauss" rhymes with "house".

TOP!
great I have made the radio wave, but how do we end the radio wave then.. like a smooth transition

Nice

Unfortunately I don't believe it supports animated waves.
How can I perfect loop this in a composition of 15 secs

That's...impressive. no idea why that would be chugging so hard. Do you have other effects on those layers? And what resolution is your comp?

@@VOTECHGURU could i use this for stomach growling effect?
@@mdmjr2468 Lol. Not a bad call! I like it.
amazing!!! how can i make it inwards?
I think the only way would be to precompose the layer and reverse the time.
Dear Jake, how in heaven's nightmare do I make ripples bounce around the inside the contours of a bathtub?
Thank you!
