Many thanks, I have been researching "juggling multiple job interviews" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Biyabriel Alarming Pastures - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my brother in law got great success with it.
I’m about to get my degree in music (piano). But since I don’t have hustle, and because of COVID cutting my hours, it really discouraged me from continuing music. I’m switching to nursing because I’d rather have stability and I can still have music as a hobby or side job.
Could you have done physio or something. Being a nurse is extremely hard work. 😓 (I'm not saying that physiotherapy isn't. But you can also open your own business that way)
College professor is that I was also looking for, including playing with the band and conducting for an orchestra. I also want to compose music which I have compose a couple of songs for the orchestra. I might do private lessons for bass. Jazz studies did got me satisfied as well.
@@okcordial In my opinion you should major in Computer Science but if you can, go for a double Major or minor in music. Having a computer science major opens the door for many opportunities.
I was also thinking on studying "music" formally in college or conservatory because I was only self-learning myself with music theory for 2 years but here in our city here in Philippines, the most commonly and reknouniversities are located in the capital "Manila" or somewhere where the location is a little bit far from my own city. We have universities here in our city that are offering music degrees/courses but all of them are private schools and I don't want to flooden myself and burden my parents with tons of money for my tuition even though I can just be a working student at the same time. But I have also other hobby or field of study where I'm interested with which is language-learning or linguistics. So I'm gonna get a linguistics degree and do and perform music as a side hustle😊
If you want to be a professor, get the DMA or Ph.D. If you don't, you'll most likely only get adjunct positions. I would advise anyone who want to teach on this level to "get a doctorate, or forget getting a job." I have a Master's from a top 10 school (and plenty of experience as an adjunct and private lessons teacher), and still can't get an interview. GET YOUR DOCTORATE and be willing to move where the job is. I played in a field band in the Marine Corps, and it was a GREAT gig. Definitely consider military gigs. Right now I'm enjoying making money on the side playing in local symphonies....maybe one day I'll go back and get my DMA :)
I just got my Bachelor's of Fine Arts: Music and I planned to join the Army since career options as a sax player where I'm at are limited. Should I try go for an officer position or stay as an enlisted for a bit? I've heard that people don't treat new officers too well
I'm not 100% sure about the Army...but I believe you can start off as an Officer (you'd be a conductor). I'd talk to a recruiter for more accurate information. In the Marine Corps...everyone begins their career as an enlisted member. Our Band Officers are all Warrant Officers.
Do music jobs pay low? I'm worried about that....and not making enough. I am also interested in joining a military band, but I have been in a mental institution at the age of 12. Would I be disqualified? I also have an anxiety disorder
No, there are moree than that. We choose our main instrument such as vocal, piano, or any other instruments. And depends on our end goals, we can choose to study music therapy, education, composition, music management, and so on. Choral is usually a mandatory class for every major. Anyway, I'm a music student. Hope it helps 😊
One of the tried and true methods I know, is to take lessons with someone who is well connected. It's devolved in my lifetime to a small, handful of elite players. One better be vey, very good. Good luck with this.
@@sahanab2212 it depends what state you teach in, also im pretty sure if you get a masters degree in music education you get payed more but im pretty sure the range is somewhere along the lines of $40,000 to $80,000 depending on the grade you teach, state and the degrees you have. Don't let this discourage you there's many ways you can make more money such as giving private music lessons or other things! I myself want to be a highschool band director when i grow up😊

Would you say it’s more difficult to be accepted into a music school such as UNT, or to be accepted into a military band?
I'm about to enter college majoring in vocals, kinda scared about my future
Everything will be great!
