Back in 1987, I wrote a letter to this band telling them what I fan I was of their music. Not only did they send me an autographed photo of themselves, the singer, Valerie Day, handwrote me a letter of thanks. That was exciting to a 16 year old boy at that time
nice!👌
COOL 😎
I could listen to this song on repeat and not get tired of hearing it just like mostly all of the original freestyle before what they now call freestyle rap was ever a thing . IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER TO HAVE BEEN A TEEN AT THE COMING OUT OF THIS MUSIC . I WOULD OF LIVED IN A CLUB MOST IF NOT ALL OF MY TEEN YEARS IF THIS WAS WHAT THEY WERE ALL PLAYING THATS FOR SURE . COULDNT OF ROCKED THE AQUA NET TOWERS THEY MADE A HAIRSTYLE . NOT BCUZ OF THE LOOK , IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BECAUSE IVE NEVER HAD THAT MUCH HAIR ON MY HEAD LOL

These adorable people are still married to each other and that is the most wonderful thing.
That's how it's supposed to be!
Waooh Man Really?
Truly. I always thought they were so cute!
This came out when I was about to enter the air force. Brings back tons of memories, still love the music. Nearly 60 years old yet this song makes me feel young again. 😊😊😊
Takes me back to being in my early 20s at a club with friends in Los Angeles during the summer of 1986, amid the video screens perched on high highlighting the music video for this song.
Air force kicks butt
Well, I sure hope you joined us in the USAF! There was stress back then, but not like today. Another positive little tune!!
Exactly right 👍
Omfg!! The 80's can never be touched!! Hands-down, the Best Decade ever for Pop music
Absolutely!✨💖😎
Amen to that
I so agree with you! My kids are in their late 20's and love this music!
I'm from 1988 and i agree as well, nothing can beat old school music
😳
My boyfriend passed away almost 5 years ago and was very quite and rarely sang or moved to music, but this song always made him sing and move a little. What a treasure
Condolences‼
My condolences. This was my husband and I from the time we met until his sudden passing in April of this year.I know what it's like to lose somebody special.
This made me cry!!!! Music is such a treasure along with memories 😇
I’m so sorry for your loss.
I'm sorry to hear that
Inside info: Black folks in the hood loved this group. We were killing their music in 1986
I DJ and I still got the vinyl, Jersey Atlantic City NJ, yeah they did that to me when I did parties 🤣🎤✌️🎶🎵💯🔥👍
Cats were break dancing to this on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City NJ 🔥👍💯🎵🎶✌️🎤
Wasn't alive but I believe it. I was about to start poplocking when I 1st heard this today.
Makes sense - since Rapper Spyder D sampled 'I Can't Wait' for *his* hit 'I Can't Wait (To Rock The Mike)'.
Me included and that's because their music was funky. Their sound to me was black, synth bass had made its way into the pop realm.
I miss the 80's, when things were good, the music was great, and life was so much simpler than it is now
You and me both
THANK YOU SO MUCH VALERIE..... We sang THIS SONG IN COMBAT nonstop. Especially at the part, "No turning back, it's much too late, to go back now would be a big mistake!" It was OUR good luck song, and I served 5 tours of duty. We ONLY lost one Marine, and I'm PROUD of that, especially with all the fire fights we endured. God rest his soul. I myself was wounded on my last tour, shot 7 times on my right side. I lost both hips and cannot walk normal, but I'm home safe and sound. I was well taken care of at Bethesda, 5 EAST, God bless those doctors and nurses. Again, THANK YOU VALERIE!!! Semper Fidelis, Captain T, U.S.M.C.
Thank you for your service! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
army infantry drill sergeant vet here-
huah!
that’s all i have to say about that
@@derrickmoss8147 Drill Sergeant??? That's HARDCORE brother. I respect any DI or DS because you have to train those men and women to understand what Combat TRULY is. I was enlisted myself first. I didn't become an officer until I was a Corporal. I went in with a college education and just chose NOT to sign up for 6 years, which officer training was, and enlisted was 4. Four years is doable, but 6??? What if I hated this life. I wouldn't be getting out until I was almost 30 years old. My main years of career life would be over. I needed to be sure. Best move I ever made because the men that served with me, knew I was once in their shoes. Notice I didn't say UNDER ME because I always thought that was a Napoleon Complex, that you have to stress those men served under me, or they worked for me. NOOO, they work for the company and you just happen to be higher up on the food chain, that's all. I believed you GIVE RESPECT to those who serve with you and you get ten times back. I had WAYYYY more appreciation than any other officer. These men would have ran through a brick wall for me, and for that I'm honored. Many blessings brother, and I loved the Forrest Gump reference. Classic... Now you only have to say......JENNY!!!!
Thank you for your service, sir!!! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Hooah!!!
I was the art director on this video. It was shot in LA in 1987 I think. They were lovely people.
Awesome!!!
Where did you got all those shoes?
What happened to all those?
And I saw the director, Joanna Priestly, give a lecture on animation at Webster University in St. Louis in 1987. That was a great talk!
SO friggin cool. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome !. Thinking about the casting of the Van’s and Converse shoes you made for this vid 😉😉😉.
Woww i think that what was invoke then, I guess 😂
Portland Oregon's Very Own. Great music and memories with this band.
Every special effect in that video required human action. All those shoes. All that positioning. No CGI and sure as hell no AI. Maybe some people think the overall effect is corny, but that was an IMMENSE amount of human effort. And creativity. Please don't forget that.
I like the little delay at the start of this video.
Yeah, that's stop motion that they did. That's a lot of work!
Thanks the Lord, for let me live through the 80s. The best decade in music history.
Eric Miranda I agree
John MacArthur I disagree. every year of that decade had it's bangers.
Wow this comment made me feel regretful of not living in the 80’s sadly I live in the 21st century.it looks to me that the 80’s was a world for teenagers who followed there dreams with authenticity and they had real fun now its not safe to go anywhere it’s sad .I do admit the music in my time is not really good it’s mostly about meaningless things. It’s hard to find good music and I do adore the music of the 80’s it’s fun exciting and vibrant I love it I felt as though it was apart of me .
+amy laker It was just a time of great everything, you name it. MTV was at its prime with music videos, that helped. But just the talent was incredible and non stop.
Overall, yes. But the late 70s was fucking awesome.
The 80s still seems so futuristic to me. I hope God has the 80s backed up on a celestial hard drive. So I can experience it all over again. LOL
it was magical
I actually feel the same way
Lol... well said. In many ways it was an upbeat, outward looking, sophisticated decade that showed through in the music. Hope that when I die I can beam back down to 1986!!
Right!? Lol
I am hoping the same thing.
I was 14 when this was released. I'm 50 now. Boy I miss my teenage years. MUSIC OF TODAY WILL NEVER BE AS GOOD AS OF THE 80S
The 80's, the best decade for just about everything. Especially music.
Yes indeed. It was a great time to be a teenager that's for sure. Great memories 😎

I'm a 55 year old black guy and I loved Nu Shooz in the 80's! This song and I Can't Wait were my favorites! I got funny looks too because in '86, all of my friends were listening to Run DMC, LL Cool J, UTFO, Ready For The World, etc, etc.,. I listened to that type of music as well but I also liked a lot of music like this (I just couldn't enjoy it around my judgemental ass friends) 😢 Now that I'm an older man, I listen to whatever the hell I want to and don't care what anyone says! 😊
Sounds like you might be just a nice guy. 😁

No worries my friend. you're not alone. not even close. I have no doubt that if we could go back somehow in some Whimsical time machine, in a blink of an eye two generations of people, or more would be gone from 2020.
Trust me you’re not the only one😂I cry all the time in remembrance of the 80’s music and the memories🥰
No your not the only one
Always, it's crazy how it still sounds good 30+ years later

Back in the eighties, when people would dance. There were places called clubs where people did this activity.
So true. You can’t find a dance club anymore
I love it when people think that just because they stop doing something, it stops for everyone else too

@John Peaches 99% of clubs these days play the same horrid gangster rap, non stop... No matter where in the world you go. lol

Hi Rebecca,hope you’re okay ?
This was a "Funky Jam" disguised as "80's Pop". It is so well crafted that it still hits hard in 2022 . Great Song!!!
I'm from San Diego and went to live in Phoenix Az. in 1987. I had a brand new '87 Toyota mini truck with a nice Kenwood tape deck and 10 inch MTX woofers behind the seat. This song shook the ground underneath my truck when I played it. It was a glorious time.
I hear ya man...Those were some glorious days!!!
Wonder how many times we passed each at metro or on central lol
Too many to count probably. One of the most memorable moments on Central was when Taylor Dane passed us riding on the the back of a motorcycle. Me and my friends all looked at each other and said, "Na, it can't be her!" We were listening to local radio station at the time, maybe KZZP or something, and they confirmed our sighting. Cool times.

How is it that the music videos of the 80's is so much better than the music videos that have come after in the decades following?
It's like the people of that era created a Modern Renaissance.
In retrospect, the 80's was kind of a golden age. The last truly great American decade.
@@bigtechisbigbrother8690 I agree 100%. 👍 The 80's was literally 10x better than the times we are living in now. It truly was the peak of the American era.
This peaked @ #28 on the hot 100?? I thought it was a bigger hit cuz I used to hear this on the radio a lot back then
Ranking issue
Probably because not a lot of people bought the single or it became more popular on the radio only in certain regions of America. This definitely did better on the radio in cities.

Such a beautiful, happy, uplifting voice. I bought this cassette when it first hit the stores in 86, and still love this jam today...
It's mind blowing to think about how much music changed from 1966-1986. If you look back from 2000-2020, there have been musical trends, but nothing as radical as what happened in the late 20th century.
Yup. That seems true with most things. In the last half of the 20th century, every decade had a distinct identity. The differences in music, cars, clothes, and styles were vivid and unmistakable. It does seem like 2002 to 2022 has been one long era with only subtle changes in aesthetics. It’s like we’re stuck in the same time period, just with more advanced phones and meaner politics.
I’m proud to be a product of the 80s. The music helped guide me. Thank you 1980s for the memories!!

I wonder how long it took them to film all the stop motion "foot"age, lol. Amazing indeed, and one of my favorite songs from the 80's!
I wonder how much blow did they snort while filming this video
Some video editor was probably asking for a pay raise after this...
Yeah, after filming was done, the band probably swore off pixilation videos ever again. -"Okay, Val! We're shooting the closet scene. You've went to the bathroom?"
That's a good question. I'm not sure about the technology back then but you definitely don't need to manually take all the individual pictures to give that stop-motion effect. You can record everything manually and then decrease the frames per second (fps) for certain scenes. About 5 frames per second gives that appearance.
