The fact that Shiny Combusken’s shiny changed in SwSh from Gen7, it’s kinda a bummer that no other shinies had really had momentous changes for their color palettes for years. Like Shiny Garchomp could’ve just changed to the same cobalt blue of its pre-evolutions. It’s not even a lot to ask for y’know? And there’s no reason why the change can’t happen.

smeargle and charizard had a big change in shinies from gen 2 to gen 3, smeargle swapped the shiny with it's normal sprite and charizard went from purple to black

I think it would’ve been a great idea to make Garchomp’s shiny resemble his beta design, make him a dark orange with a cream colored chest and light blue belly.

I actually got 2 of them in a mass outbreak. They where just waiting on me and each was lined up like: regular, shiny, regular, shiny. What's even funnier is that one was female and the other was male. I screamed out of joy until I forgot that I could catch both (I thought I was in a pre legends game) but once I remembered, I was happy again

To make it bumped down more points, burmy/wormadam is like one of the hardest Pokémon to hunt lol
I'd say Garchomp, Gengar, and Togekiss all tie for 1st... they literally upped / downed the hue slider by 10% and called it a day with these monster Pokemon.
Togekiss also has the pattern colors switched
togekiss has colors swapped which is actually but its not noticeable at first so bad
Funny thing I caught a shiny Pichu recently in PLA and without noticing it and while releasung Pokemon I got the notice about a rare Pokemon I'm about to release just to find out one of the Pichu I've caught during an outbreak had been a shiny the whole time. I've also caught a shiny Elekid unknowingly.

@@luk1681 1. My sound had been off so I wasn't able to hear the Shiny sound (both times).
2. I just straight up stored them all in my electric box without really looking at them since I hadn't seen any really obvious difference while looking at all of them.
3. Shiny Pichu looks almost the same as normal Pichu. Same thing with Elekid almost no difference in Colour.
@@luk1681 I also had a moment like that almost. I found an outbreak of happinys and while my sound was on, the shiny sparkle sound effect or visual effect didn't appear right away. And I looked at one and wondered if the lighting was off or if it was actually shiny. So I had to fly a bit further away and land in some grass so they didn't spot me. When I came close to the outbreak, the one I thought was shiny sparkled with the sound effect. So now I have a shiny happiny.

Glalie, they just changed the eyes to be red and nothing else. Imagine you find an alpha shiny glalie and you had no idea it was shiny because all alpha pokemon have red eyes when in the wild. Thats just one of my picks tho, i could rant all day about bad shinys
I thought that shiny torterra would be here on the list. I actually do have shiny torterra in legends arceus and im so dissapointed in it. They just added a bit more lime to the grass on top and made the legs a bit yellow and a bit green. Thats it. What makes it even worse is that it evolved from grotle, which is a good shiny in my opinion.
Agreed completely, it loses all the minty-green and just turns that gross sick color like so many other Pokemon...

I’m not a fan but it is because it was not meant to have a cloak the cloak is natural so it couldn’t be shiny

100% said the same thing. I actually like shiny Dusknoir. I remember hatching a shiny Duskull and she became a Dusknoir. It was pretty cool for me.
Leafeon is such a shame. They could have given it a nice warm autumn color scheme and it would have been amazing
Also I agree with Gastrodon being intentionally bad, because the optimal play would have been to simply swap the colors.

I think it makes sense lore wise though about the colors, cause iirc shellos/gastrodon will fight with ones that are not its own color

For me it's Hisui shiny Sliggoo and Goodra like how did it go from a gold Goomy to back to its regular colours with a slightly darker shell being the only noticeable differences.

Late reply but u can actually see its bronze shell. Yea, it's body doesn't change which is so little unfortunate, ngl, but bad shinies are either ones with ugly colors (surprised no one said Jolteon) or just very unnoticeable. Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra is neither

I had a shiny drapion spawn in one of my space time distortions and it was the most disappointing thing in existence.. I wouldn’t have even noticed if it weren’t for the damn sparkles 😭
Same with a bibarel that spawned in front of me after a space time distortion. It’s low key cute tho and even spawn in its sitting position 🥺🥺
Drapion is honestly a victim of them ruining the color pallette when they switched to 3d in gen 6, gen 4 and 5 shiny drapion was bright red

No joke I just got a shiny Gible yesterday and was so hyped over it. Then I evolved him. Then I regretted it. Then I hoped Garchomp would be better and now I’m sad.
I remember getting a shiny Gible on Pokemon Go from an event and excitedly evolving it into Gabite which looked amazing. But then I evolved it into Garchomp without thinking… my disappointment was immeasurable, and my day was ruined.
I like garchomp, it could've been a more noticeable darker color though, or like the mega (the mega is so fire)

Quick story i found a shiny gible one time i had done no research of shiny garchomp little thing to like 11 boxes of freaking eggs and i evolved it and was so mad at that terrible shiny i released it in an instant

The worst thing about Burmy/Wormadam having barely noticeable shinies is that it's dex entries state the form it takes is based on what objects are in its environment. Like, they could easily have altered colors for the stuff it sticks to its body instead of making itself barely visible. Like, autumn leaves on grass form or washed up sea glass on sandy form and trash form could literally be anything humans throw away in cities.
I literally have 4 freaking shiny basculins and didn't realize the other 2 were even shiny.

shiny psyduck was my first shiny ever. i caught it in fire red when i was about 10 or 11 and the immense disappointment i felt when i evolved it was insane. i dont think i will ever mentally recover from it. its even harder to tell the difference with the 2d sprites.

Sad to see glaceon on the list. I feel changing the teal of its main body to white is such a subtle but nice change. It's one of my favourite shinies.

Yeah. Shiny petilil was my third to catch, and I deadass heard the shiny jingle, and then spent a minute squinting at a nearby cluster of three of them bc I couldn't tell which was shiny. Obsessed with my shiny liligant though, I love her. Straight up gave up on bothering with a shiny gastly and garchomp, too.
Fun fact: every shiny Pokémon before gen 6 was decided on an algorithm based on a color wheel. No one purposely made bad shinies in gen 5-1
I just got a shiny Burmy and perfected my dex for Wormadam, so I can find that terrible shiny for my living dex as well... To add insult to injury, this is also a terribly tedious hunt since it's only in those damn shaky trees.
The whole gimmick behind wormadam is that it uses it's surroundings to create a cloak for itself to live, so it makes sense that the cloak doesn't change color. It still is a horrible shiny, but it makes SOME sense.
I agree with the cloak not changing. They could have at least changed the body to a more drastic color like red or yellow.
@@annceres1204 Not even that, make the blue on the body vibrant as can be, an unmistakable shade of blue: neon blue, sky blue, cobalt blue, literally anything that you wouldn't miss when looking at it at night. I thought Corviknights in Scarlet were bad because the glare in the area is so bad it makes every Corviknight look shiny, and this is about as bad.
I think the reason the pikachu family’s shinies don’t change a lot is that it’s the mascot and they don’t want it to stray away too much from its main design. A stupid reason, but really the only one that makes a lick of sense

Golduck is psyduck’s evolution and all its shiny is is the beak and hands and feet become red and the main body stays blue.

I actually made a mock-up shiny for Burmy that essentially just swaps the cloak colors as well and that would translate to Wormadam with Plant turning sandy, Sandy turning pink, and Trash turning green.
Honestly i was pretty disappointed with Glalie's shiny, i've never seen Froslass's so i can't have an opinion on hers but when i evolved my shiny Snorunt which looked absolutely amazing mind you, into a glalie i was heartbroken
Froslass just gets a slightly different color sash in the middle. Google it, you’ll see and won’t like it
Plus the alpha Glalie has the red eyes bet you can easily miss one if you didn't hear the shiny noise

1:22 the reason they never kept the yellow is because before gen 6, shinies were decided by pallet swaps and weren’t chosen by the developers, it’s also the reason why some Pokemons shinies aren’t that sifferent

I actually really like Glaceon's shiny. It's subtle but it works well for it. The dark blue on light blue of the original looks boring to the more contrasted blue on white of the shiny
Yes, same! I'm also one of maybe five people worldwide to unironically love Blissey's subtle change to pastel because it's just so pretty
Got a shiny Pichu and didn't even know it was shiny until talking to Laventon 🤣 I think rain + pokeball sounds etc didn't let me listen the shiny sound. Pichu and Elekid are both terrible, they deserved a lot more.
I also had that terrible moment with a shiny Gengar because I was kinda just looking for Gengars in Pokémon go and then I got one encounter that I didn’t even realize was shiny until the sparkles showed up (same story for a Lillipup I found)
The thing about the potentially intentionally bad is that most older shinies weren't designed. The way they made it was by altering the color palette. Then when we moved to 3D they started designing every shiny. The issue is that they never updated the shinies and just followed through keeping it the same. Someone at GF however really like subtle shinies with some of the Gen 9 shinies.
I must be one of the few people who can appreciate the shinies like Gengar and Garchomp. I don't see them as "dull", I see them as darker, less colorful versions of what's supposed to be intimidating Pokémon. Shiny Mega Gengar is also miles better than normal. Shiny Leafeon's earthier colors and shiny Glaceon's icy colors, both more vibrant, only give their 3d models more life. Not every shiny needs to be a complete reverse of the original or whatever to be "cool".

I remember shiny hunting in Pokemon ultra sun and moon for a chansey, if you've played the game then u know how easy it is, but when I got my 1st shiny of it, I was so happy and it looked amazing so I decided to evolve it into blissey cause there is no way in hell they can fuck it up. I evolved it and once it showed shiny blissey I was think "oh shit did I do something wrong" but I didn't I just couldn't tell the difference between shiny and non-shiny cause they look exactly alike. Never been so disappointed but then it turned out for the best. As getting the shiny Chansey was super easy I decided to farm them and by the end of the week I had well over 50 that I slowly put onto the trade system and that's how I completed the Pokedex. Honestly Pokemon ultra sun was the most fun I had since soul silver so I decided to transfer all my level 100's, shinys, mythicals and legendarys that I had spent 2 years leveling and collecting over to Pokemon sword. But then I found out I couldn't trade all, couldn't keep all items and now I'm stuck with boring ass sword. Sword was so boring for me that I haven't played any of the new Pokemon games since and have sold my Pokemon cards and switch because of how crappy sword was like of you've played any of the older games and ultra sun, they have so much u can do in it like post game activity, like I finished ultra sun in 2 weeks, spent 2 years fully completing it and still had fun. I bought sword, fiished it in 5 hours and was excited to see what to do after, couldn't find anything other than the legendarys so I looked up a list of post game activities and it was abysmal. So there I was stuck with half of my prized pokemon and everything, I even tried starting over on another account while pretending it was a nuzlocke I t worked for few hours so I gave up and got rid of everything. Pokemon sword, although it looks great it lacks substance and it ruined everything for me about pokemon. I would also be into the anime still if it wasn't for the animation change and sudden kidofying of ash's behaviour and I would still have my cards if my family wouldve remembered that I loved pokemon and not just make me watch my little bros open all these cool new decks on Christmas whilst I got uno decks also the fact I couldn't afford cards at the time. I still catch up on pokemon every now and then like I am now cause I still care...holy shit I'm so sorry for ranting about my hatred for Pokemon sword, just needed to let it out
I was playing Legends after completing the dex, a little after midnight I think. And I got a Shiny Trash Cloak Wormadam…the midnight of today, April Fool’s. I don’t know how to feel about that 🤣
Course, I also got Shiny Rotom and Shiny Rowlet from Massive Mass Outbreaks today, so that makes up for it 😋

I agree with your opinion on the Wormadams, but you forgot to mention Mothim. Which has FIRE shiny vs the normal.
I would of altered the body on wormadam. Orange for plant form like it’s Autumn/fall, red sand on sandy form, and a greyish tint on trash form to make it look like a bin bag. That would actually be an acceptable shiny.
6:25 shiny dusknoir is one of my favorite shinies imo, the vibrant blue makes it nice on its gray arms

Bro, I could've written the Mamoswine script. I LOVED Piloswone and was absolutely crushed when it evolved. My sons and I used to enjoy the surprise, but now I have to look up the shiny forms beforehand just to be safe.
I don’t think anyone could tell that when I evolve that shiny that it was shiny I miss the unevolved version because it looked cooler than the last one
the haunter thing actually happened with me. i didn't even see the sparkles and had my volume down so i didn't recognize it until it opened its mouth and i thought "huh...why is it blue" 😂 i'm happy with him though!

Glaceon used to have a great shiny, that's cause the shiny in gen 4 and 5 had a bright white coat which was perfect
One thing I love about shiny Lilligant is that her flower and eyes are swapped between her forms. What I mean by that is Unovan Lilligant normally has an orange flower and orange eyes, but her shiny changes both the flower and the eyes to pink. Meanwhile the Hisuian Lilligant has a pink flower and pink eyes normally but changes them both to orange when shiny. Additionally, both of the forms' bodies change in the same way when shiny, going from having green/yellow-green arms and overskirts to those features being more of a blue-green. The way the two Lilligant forms reference each other is just so cool to me. I love the Lilligant line.
3D shiny gastly is horrendous

Edit: and I don't think dusknoir is bad. I love blueish shines. But I kinda agree with the happiny line. I knew about blissey and it was one of those accidental shines like those who randomly appear and you wouldn't normally hunt for it unless you're a huge fan of it.

3:09 a shiny Sylveon spawned for me in a space time distortion today and I named him Blueberry. I was so stoked, just like when I got my full odds shiny Zubat after having given up on a horde (my dad got a shiny Zubat in a Japanese copy of platinum and it's been a favorite of mine ever since. Connects me with him when I use it) I'd have been less stoked for Leafeon or Glaceon unfortunately
Edit: I also felt regret evolving my shiny Chansey lol. I'd also add Carnivine to honorable mentions. Great mon design wise, sad shiny

My first ever full odds shiny was a petilil and i wouldn't have noticed that it was different if I wasn't paying attention to the screen at the time
I feel like Wormadam was a "Hold my beer," situation. Some developers are at the bar, laughing about all the terrible shinies we've wasted countless hours hunting, when one guy declares that he created the worst of the worst, Gengar and Garchomp.

4:58 poor gengar, my favourite pokemon got the short end of stick.. (not to mention the beautiful white shiny that existed)
I’ve used dusclops competitively long since before dusknoire was a thing.
So I still have a red dusclops and man it’s so satisfying.
I ised to not like shiny glaceon but it's actually one of the better subtle shinies, the cool white body with darker blue tones is actually really nice imo, great video though :]
I unfortunately agree with a lot of these, and I agree on the Wormadam with missed opportunities but I will just say that Wormadam is actually one of my fav Pokémon. I’m not defending its shiny however, the only cool thing about the shiny is the sparkles that come with it

I caught shiny Pichu on stream, and I legit could not find it in the box. I had to look at each one to see if I could find the shiny icon
7:51 that was actually my first arceus shiny! it randomly jumped out of a tree!
I think I could have some good changes for a "shiny" for Wormadam. 1st style (Plant cloak): have the leaves be more of a orange and yellow color to represent Autumn leaves... 2nd style (Trash Cloak): have more of a gray color to the bottom, or maybe a faint green... 3rd style (Sandy Cloak): have the bottom be a bit orange-ish (to represent red sand) and the little smile of orange be tan (basically a color swap, that is noticeable). Looking at the shiny form for this pokemon does make it suck, so I hope these suggestions would be better than the normal shinies. (Edit: fixed the comment after looking up the pokemon)
I got a shiny carnavine yesterday, and if I hadn’t seen the sparkles I wouldn’t have known that it was shiny.

i remember shiny hunting and taking the longest time ever just to get a shiny ghastly or haunter so I can evolve it into a shiny gengar. it was a on my bucket list for shinies and man was i disappointed once i found and evolved my shiny haunter. I was thinking it'd be white only for those photos to be fake and for the regular gengar to look much better
The biggest tragedy is that Glaceon actually used to have a really cool shiny (albeit more subtle), in that the pale teal of its body turned white and its darker highlights turning more vivid and deep was a lot more noticeable. Sadly, during the transition to 3D, Glaceon's standard color palette was lightened a fair bit so now the shiny looks near identical.

Not too long ago, i found a shiny Gastly and named him Galaxy. He looked so cool, but when i evolved him into a gengar i was just like:
"Galaxy, you lost everything that made me give you the name Galaxy in the first place"
And i have never used it since then.
