In case you are choosing between RAV4 and the Rogue. Let me just give you guys some of my personal experiences driving both the RAV4 and the Rogue. The interior of the Nissan Rogue is on another level. The comfort of the seat of the Rogue is on another level. Some more minor detail things that Rogue does better. For example, the blind spot monitoring of the Rogue has an audio alert, while RAV4 only has a little light on the side mirror. Also, there's an audio alert when you engage or disengage the adaptive cursing control and lane-keeping assist on the Rogue. While on the RAV4 you have to constantly looking for that small green light in the display to confirm the status of cursing control and lane-keeping assist. When at a sharp turn it might disengage the lane-keeping assist without you knowing it (there's no audio alert). Also, the lane-keeping assist on the RAV4 tends to take me out every time there is an exit on the freeway lol. I drive both. I think unless you really hate the CVT which I'm not or really want to keep a vehicle for more than 10 years. Rogue is better than RAV4 in many many aspects. Little things do make a huge difference in the driving experience.
so only difference is seats are better on rogue and audible safety sounds.. thats it? thats nothing.. idk which rav4 you drove but my father in laws 2022 rav4 has audible beeps, as does my 2016 toyota mirai and my wifes 2017 corrolla... and i have no complaints about the seats or interior. plsu that toyota reliability....
@@bigd7386 If anyone said anything about Toyota, they go postal. Yes, the Rav4 is reliable and will last you. But thats it. It does have a harsh ride and old laggy technology. And these days, people want the latest and the greatest. If Nissan add the same powertain as the new Pathfinder, it will definitely turn around for the brand.
We just bought the 2023 Nissan Rogue AWD SV premium package. Just blown away at all the features. Still trying to figure it all out. But, love it’s features and handling so far.
I’m sorry, but this gen Rogue is hands down better than the CRV. The CRV is missing so many features on the top end. It seems they cost cut on the features to put the Hybrid in the top trims so they could price it competitively. The Rogues materials and design are much nicer. The entire doors of the CRV look cheap. And non-hybrids look like base Tiguans. Compared to the Rogue Platinum the Sport Touring is missing a pano roof, no HUD, no full screen gauges, no rear sunshades, no rear temp controls, missing a rear seat pocket, no 360° camera, and lower resolution cameras. But people will turn a blind eye to all of this because it’s a Honda. And it’s funny that Nissan has made a very solid product and people go straight to the CVT. In the newer gen products there doesn’t seem to be as many problems with the CVTs. Besides, it seems most of the CVT failures seem to be due to improper maintenance, but that’s not a pass to Nissan at all. And yea there’s a gamble with a new engine, but that can be said about any new engine debuting. Overall this gen Rogue takes the 🏆. And I know it’s unpopular opinion but it’s truth 🤷🏾♂️.
Just bought my wife that exact same one 3 weeks ago from a 2015 Rogue. She absolutely loves it. My wife's Rogue does have fogs. Don't know what happened with that one. Platinum is supposed to have them
Got a Platinum trim for my wife. Overall very happy, but for the highest trim level and cost, I would’ve expected rain sensing windshield wipers and fog lamps. Just my 2 cents. Your thoughts?

Thanks Joe for the nice review. I have a 2022 and it’s funny how everyone criticize the CVT. Nissan has made changes and we will see how this updated CVT holds up. People forget that companies like Audi, Honda, Toyota, and Subaru used and still use CVT. For a non hybrid SUV getting the MPG’s it gets is pretty nice.
The difference is that Toyota and Honda CVT's are reliable. The Nissan CVT is garbage. If you're a previous Nissan car owner who experienced early transmission failure due to a bad CVT, are you gong to buy another Nissan? Probably not.

A relative just bought one. I drove it and it has lots of pep. Most people will be impressed with the acceleration. However, ride quality isn't good and there is a lot of road noise. However, we figured out that the tires were overfilled. Airing them down to spec did improve the ride a bit.
I have a Nissan Rogue 2010, closed to 140K mileage. Keep maintenance on time, your car will be fine. You need to change transmission oil every 20,000 to 30,000 mileage. If your car is old and has high mileage, you need to clean the engine for every 3000 to 5000 mileage you drove.
I absolutely love my 2023 Nissan Rogue Platinum! It has so many amazing features on it! Great gas mileage also! My only complaint is the lack of fog lights. It has the brightest interior lights that I’ve ever seen! Handles great! One of the fun features I was surprised with was when approaching the vehicle the parking lights come on by themself!
I rented one for the week. Really enjoyed it. Except for a rumble feeling when pressing on the brake. Kept feeling like my foot was sliding. Another concern is their CVT, unless things have changes I remember them having the worst CVT
I agree with the dark chrome, depending on the body color - just got a '22 Rogue in darker gray, and the bright chrome is a nice breakup to the dark color/dark wheels/black trim. It's funny though, when I was checking it out and saw the door pockets, I turned to my wife and said "oh man, Joe Raiti would not be pleased with the snack storage on these."
The new 2023 has a midnight package but only on the SV and only some colors. So you can’t get the 9inch Nav screen or Bose but you still can get fake leather, heated/power seats and the pano roof. I have a 21 SL and it has fog lights (odd they were missing on this Platinum).
I have driven the 21 rouge with the 2.5l engine as a rental and it was really a nice, fun and good looking compact suv. The only thing I didn’t like was that it had/has a cvt but overall really nice.
I agree with you about the CVT. If Nissan would walk away from the CVT and grace this Rogue with a well deserved 9-speed transmission, they'd have a real winner on their hands. Do that and expect a BIG sales boost.
Have a 22.4k.so far so good.engine/transmission just fine.in sport quite quick.good tech good stereo.comfortable seats and ride.pretty good value.30 mpg.
The best thing about the platinum trim is it’s made in Japan. I don’t get it….. the complicated variable compression when it not any more efficient mpg than previous 2.5. I think they had that on an Infiniti…. Maybe still do. It’s a nice vehicle…..would be awesome with traditional transmission. Rides and handles well.
Given the kind of vehicle it is and given its intended buyer (who is rarely going to floor it and critique its driving dynamics) I'm sure its fine for them. Its going to go from the office to the school to the big box store. That's about it.
Scotty Kilmer was neutral on the engine and even said good things about it. No one knows how it will hold up after 7 years but coming from Scotty who hates Nissan, I found it interesting.
Turbo makes it complicated even on other car as well, Nissan makes a pretty decent Engine but Why don't make their own transmission to match their indigenious engine..
Scotty Kilmer isn’t really the best person to reference about new engines. He is just a Toyota fanboy. Anything He hates working on he calls bad.I would ask actual engineers on how they think about it.
I just bought my first nissan make and i am sure glad it was the rogue. Quality through and through from the 2 previous hyundai models ive owned. I enjoy the sporty look the most keeping it sexy as well as fully functional for the small family. If nissan keeps this up, i will for sure be buying another suv model from them in the future.
I just bought my second rogue, it's a 2023. The first one was 2010. I sold it with 120,000 miles. I never had a major problem. You just have to maintain it well.
It was going to be called Qashqai in the United States but according to Nissan USA, they figured that we Yanks won’t be able to pronounce it as a result they called to the Rogue Sport instead.
Nice car. Superb interior and excellent ergonomics. All spoiled by the gummy, noisy CVT. As a previous Rogue owner whose CVT collapsed after only 56,000 miles and would’ve cost $5,000 to repair… I’m done with cvts, no matter which car they come in. It’s the weakest link and thus a deal breaker.
Traded in my wife's 2015 Rogue for this one. Her old Rogue had 136,000+ miles. Not a single issue with the CVT. My 2021 Maxima from a 2016 Maxima. Still no issues. It's just a crap shoot with that tranny but we got lucky
@@T_WILL77 at how many miles you change the CVT oil? I have a 2018 sentra with almost 37k miles and i been scared to change the cvt oil. So far is working fine
My mom has been blessed with her Rogue, it's a 2011 with 102,000 miles and has not had any problems with any component whatsoever. Thank you Lord Jesus!
Love this Rogue, but two zonks: One: The god-awful CVT which is terrible on all Nissan and Infiniti cars, and Two: Why put a 3 Cylinder when you can put a 4 Cylinder Turbo?
Never had a problem with any of the CVTs and I've had 4 Nissans with them. We don't run them into the ground and I make sure maintenance is kept up. No issues whatsoever
Here’s the one I wanted to see. Obviously a Platinum trim, but the updated engine. I know we all give CVTs a lot of guff, but as of late I’ve just come to accept them as a norm for this class. I don’t get into any vehicle to go fast, so I think this might be just enough for me. I was going to go with an ’18 Subaru Crosstrek or Outback as a replacement vehicle (Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT is much better than Nissan’s Jatco any day of the week), but if it turns out I might like the new Rogue okay, I might just go back on my word just this once and take the risk and get it. I’m sure if I treat the transmission right it’ll last.
I bought the '22 model with this new engine (SV Premium).. at first impression, i thought it was a good vehicle that gets good MPG being a compact SUV, but i noticed the engine will stutter or lag around 2300-2400 rpm when cruising.. it doesn't happen all the time, but when it happens it was fairly annoying. Wonder what was causing it. Had a change of heart and sold the vehicle instead as I was not confident about its long-term reliability.
that's a hard no on the turbo-3 cylinder. They can make a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder that makes as much power, and if you put a 9 speed automatic with it (highest gear overdrive) you could get the same gas mileage
Tell me which 4 cyl turbo 2.0 can get 37mph hwy? What does a crv hybrid gas mileage get on the hwy? What other suv can get 30mpg city that's not a hybrid? Most sedans or compact cars barely get 30mpg city that are much less powerful
Gorgeous!!! Love the exterior and love way more the interior amazing, idc about CVT, I have a Crv 2021 and it's pretty good on everything specially on mpg's, but wow this Nissan is gorgeous, nice review as always Joe, I'm not a racer I have a family I don't need to speed like crazy so idc about CVT or anything going crazy lol
You don't need to be a lead foot for the god awful jatco cvt transmission to go out early it's going to do that on its own regardless of how you drive they're just poorly built
No ventilated front seats at this price point is a big zonk. I’m especially surprised since there are heated passenger seats. I also don’t like the CVT. But it is an improvement on the CRV.
Joe, what I want to know about the Rogue and it’s AWD function is that does it have a button to lock the wheels for better 4 wheel drive traction. Please let me know! Thx!
That pumped-in sound isn't too bad for a 3 cyl. Also, it seems they basically took one side of Infiniti 3.0 V6TT with the variable compression. So should have already gone through its paces. I'm not liking the CVT but hopefully, they sorted out all the bugs over the years to make it more reliable.
When i look at the front end of the NISSAN ROGUEs, it reminds me of the 2010 NISSAN ROGUE the SV, and the SL + my dad drives a NISSAN ROGUE but with AWD. How much does the 2023 NISSAN ROGUE TURBO cost -> MSRP?
Love the review, Joe! My mom drives the 2021 (redesigned, but still 4-cylinder) Rogue and loves it. I agree it's very comfortable and luxurious for the class! I'm wanting to know what you think of the new Sportage hybrid, have you had a chance to drive it?
FYI the Platinum Trim has Tri-zone climate control and the wheels are not just exclusive for Platinum, it is shared with SL trims. and is this 2023 or 2022?
I think it’s cool that Nissan has made their first 3 cylinder turbocharged engine but in my opinion I would choose the Honda CRV since I own a 2017 model year CRV with a 1.5l turbocharged 4 cylinder.
no cause the crv can get Fog Lights installed. Be aware Nissan Canada removed the fog lights from all trim levels and have not made the parts needed to put the fog lights in available in Canada yet.
I love the interior and exterior. I just have a huge problem with the CVT. Might as well not put a turbo in it. Kinda defeats the purpose of even having a turbo if it has a CVT transmission. Especially on the Maxima. It's a V6, why ruin the car with a dreadful CVT?
I bought a 2023 SL AWD with Premium Package a few weeks ago and LOVE everything about it except the gas mileage. Driving 95% highway at normal speeds I can't get more than 23 MPG, vs. the EPA 28 city/34 highway and 31 combined. Regular mode vs. Eco mode doesn't make much of a difference.
Reset all your trips and try again also what gas are you buying ? That’s horrible I get mid 30s all the time and have had as high as 38 mpg and I don’t drive it slow
Just bought a '23 SL trim and I love it. And Raiti - You do the one thing that is a huge pet peeve of mine - You click the turn signal all the way up or down to change lanes. - you only need to push it up or down slightly to get 3 flashes of the signal. Just a dumb thing that bothers me. Good review otherwise.
You should turn on your signal and leave it on until you change lanes. You should also turn it on much more prior than a split second before you actually change lanes. It is a SIGNAL. It is meant to let other drivers know what you're planning to do. If it only flashes briefly or it flashes a split second before you actually do it, you're not warning anyone and if I were going to hit you, I'd have done it already, because I didn't know what you were doing until you were doing it. Improper use of a signal is one of MY pet peeves.
I worked at a Honda dealer for 17 years and we also had a Nissan dealership. Nissan had Huge Transmission (CVT) problems and engine problems. All of their service work was all Warranty work. I have seen videos of this new engine and believe it will have huge issues. The Honda CRV is bulletproof and holds its value. I have had three and never had any problems with them. The Toyota Rav 4 and the Honda CRV are the best on the market. Why take a chance .
Love this new Rogue! Great looking styling! That interior is awesome - especially the tan leather and those “zero gravity” seats! BTW, Nissan offers LED fog lights in that empty spot that Joe pointed out. As the owner of Juke, (which I haven’t had any problems with - at least not yet), this might be my next vehicle. We’ll see. I’m planning to keep my Juke for a while yet anyway.
@@RaitisRides It is harder to judge the distance from the pump to the car when it is on the right side, plus you are opening your driver's side door into an area that other drivers are trying to use to get into or out of the gas station, and you are further away from the driver's door which makes it easier for car jackers to access the vehicle. All small things that add up to having the fuel filler on the same side as the driver being the better design.

I enjoy the sporty look the most keeping it sexy as well as fully functional for the small family. If nissan keeps this up, i will for sure be buying another suv model from them in the future.
It says it's a 2023 Rogue but you keep saying 2022 Rogue. Which one is it?
I just bought my second rogue, it's a 2023. The first one was 2010. I sold it with 120,000 miles. I never had a major problem. You just have to maintain it well.
Oh wow! That is so great to hear!
Do they sell the Nissan Qashqai in the US?
Nope only in Europe China and Canada this car he is reviewing which is the rogue is the us variant of the Qashqai
Yeah they do, but it's called the Rogue Sport.
That's not what this is, though.
No unfortunately they do not
It was going to be called Qashqai in the United States but according to Nissan USA, they figured that we Yanks won’t be able to pronounce it as a result they called to the Rogue Sport instead.
@@mrchiito1 We changed it twice every 60K and had no issues with it. Not sure what Nissan recommends but that I went with
My mom has been blessed with her Rogue, it's a 2011 with 102,000 miles and has not had any problems with any component whatsoever. Thank you Lord Jesus!
They've reinforced the CVT in this gen and added a cooler as well so hopefully, no more issues with it.
My new rogues transmission is already slipping it only has 9000 miles wtf 😢
Can you trade it in for a Toyota Rav4?
Love this Rogue, but two zonks: One: The god-awful CVT which is terrible on all Nissan and Infiniti cars, and Two: Why put a 3 Cylinder when you can put a 4 Cylinder Turbo?
Yes. Avoid this car like the plague.
You are spot on the money
@@Hercules_tootoo you crack me up
Probably to reduce cost?
I’m sure if I treat the transmission right it’ll last.
the cvt problem is they don't last
@@roberthart9886 Yes, they do, if you know how to take care of them and don't drive like an idiot!
@@roberthart9886 Nissan Transmissions are a joke.
@@craig162 Reread my post. apparently you misunderstood it
@@roberthart9886 they’re okay.. not the best but they’re okay. Theyre reliable when u do the fluid changes and don’t drive it like a hellcat
I have a 2022 it’s amazing the interior is soo much better than any competitors the exterior is also stylish the only thing I hate is the suspension
They got the interior so perfect on this.
How's the engine longevity? I'm a bit with that it's only 3 cylinders that are pulling ah the weights
I think LED fog lights are an option. I've seen them on this body style and some have the option on the steering wheel stalk? Is that still an option?
that's a hard no on the turbo-3 cylinder. They can make a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder that makes as much power, and if you put a 9 speed automatic with it (highest gear overdrive) you could get the same gas mileage
I totally agree with you!
Fuel mileage. That's why they went with the 3 cyl
Tell me which 4 cyl turbo 2.0 can get 37mph hwy? What does a crv hybrid gas mileage get on the hwy? What other suv can get 30mpg city that's not a hybrid? Most sedans or compact cars barely get 30mpg city that are much less powerful
9:27 Did you see that Stinger?!?
Good eyes!
@@seb_1504 So true. Huge engine and Transmission problems.
The lighted door sills and color changing interior lighting are optional.
This is so very true!
No ventilated front seats at this price point is a big zonk. I’m especially surprised since there are heated passenger seats. I also don’t like the CVT. But it is an improvement on the CRV.
Why do you like making the keyfob bigger? it was nice, compact and slim... now it's huge.
Is the side mirrors collapsed when you turn off the vehicle?😊
Equinox or rogue? What's your recommendation?
None of the above.
where is the button for the ambient light in the center console?? I just bought a rogue platinum and i cant find it.
Where are the speakers located, how is the output of the speakers, if I would need to add amp/sub?
You would want to add an amp for sure.
Love the new look but that splash guard over oil pan and filter has to go 18 plastic clips how long do you think they will last 🧐
Pretty impressive, nearly as good as a mileage as the Sportage Hybrid in real world driving! Costs a bit more but looks very competitive!
i am trying to decide between this platinum rogue and the Kia Sportage Hybrid...... having a hard time deciding
Do you have the Sportage Hybrid? I'm thinking about that one and I was thinking about this new Rogue, but frankly, no ventilated seats is Bad news....
@@InMission So many reviewers seem to love the sportage.
Love your Video's,,,,Question...caption shows 2023 Nissan Rogue, but your commentary says 2022....which is it?
I was wondering the same?
Joe, what I want to know about the Rogue and it’s AWD function is that does it have a button to lock the wheels for better 4 wheel drive traction. Please let me know! Thx!
the interior color combination is so nice
Nissan does such a good job with that!
No thanks. I'll pass on the 3 cylinder and the CVT will spell double trouble for the Rogue.
Why 2.5 engine is no more available? They put 2.5 engine when this new car came
Need to add the 9 speed transmission and ditch the turbo and go na 4 cylinder and it’ll be serious competition
Looks nice, but wont touch a CVT
I feel your pain
What's the advantage of a CVT? Why would Nissan and Honda install one in their car rather than a regular transmission?
Can you imagine this 3 cylinder turbo in the light weight Kicks.
I switched my kicks for the new Rogue, but if the kick got the 3 cyl turbo it would fly.
e-power not coming to North America?
Which drove better nissan rogue or chevy trax rs
Still my very first Nissan SUV I want to buy.
nice watch..what kind
Thank you for bringing us this one
i thought the 2023 CRV doesn't have a pop rod?
Surprisingly has hood struts. Honda typically uses prop rods on every model but they are changing things up
Love this SUV 💯💯
Don't know what happened with that one. Platinum is supposed to have them
Love the interior and the soft touches
How reliable is this 3 cylinder engine going to be? Will it hit 300,000+ miles or is it going to be a buy and toss it away after 150,000
My first Nissan SUV!! Amazing video Joe.
Thanks for always watching Jeremiah!
@@RaitisRides You're welcome Joe.
FYI the Platinum Trim has Tri-zone climate control and the wheels are not just exclusive for Platinum, it is shared with SL trims.
and is this 2023 or 2022?
Thanks for sharing that info. It is a 2023.
SL with premium package also has tri zone
I think it’s cool that Nissan has made their first 3 cylinder turbocharged engine but in my opinion I would choose the Honda CRV since I own a 2017 model year CRV with a 1.5l turbocharged 4 cylinder.
How does the plat trim level not have fog lights? The sl and plat had fog lights in the 2022 model.
The heading says 2023, but right up front he says we're checking out a 2022. hmm
After having a Nissan with a CVT I’ll never get another.
I appreciate your hard work, Joe!
no cause the crv can get Fog Lights installed.
Be aware Nissan Canada removed the fog lights from all trim levels and have not made the parts needed to put the fog lights in available in Canada yet.
Good review but I wonder why they went with regular bulbs my 2018 rogue sl has all led
Keep up the good work joe Lori and Steven! 😊
I love the interior and exterior. I just have a huge problem with the CVT. Might as well not put a turbo in it. Kinda defeats the purpose of even having a turbo if it has a CVT transmission. Especially on the Maxima. It's a V6, why ruin the car with a dreadful CVT?
@@EpicDrew15 I suppose that's fair. But man I want POWER!
Great review!
Thanks Zac!
How does this compare to a Toyota Rav4?
The Nissan dealerships have this vehicle around $45k after their fees. They made the vehicle an inch longer yet removed a cylinder.
Thank you Joe for the nice review. Your presentation is always interesting.l
I've had bad experience with Honda batteries and brakes that wear out too soon.
Thanks for sharing from your personal experience
@@RaitisRides Thank you! Always enjoy your fun and informative videos!
Nice nice Nissan Rogue I think it's a dandy of an SUV.
I’m glad that I can share this one with you Luis!
@@RaitisRides Thank you.
How come no zonk for the fuel filler being on the right side instead of the left?
That doesn’t seem like a big deal.
