This is funny, I lived in Toms River at this time and I didn't even know this show a) existed, or b) was taped in AC. It's funny hearing these players came from the towns nearby!
Actually I heard that it was "The Reel to Reel Movie Game" not "Yahtzee" that the contestants got stiffed on, due to the production company going bankrupt (the former was also hosted by Peter Marshall, BTW).
This came from my video collection. You're welcome America! I'm just now noticing 25 years later that the Fisherman are high-fiving each other when the sales girl rolls the Yahtzee for no obvious reason.
If this show came back, it would have to be less confusing than what's been presented here. My take would be closer to the board game version. To roll the dice, players must answer a trivia question for 10 points. Players get 3 rolls. They can put their result into any and all columns that apply to their result. First 2 players to fill their cards advance. Round 2, nothing changes from Round 1. The final round plays like Final Jeopardy. The bonus game's object is to roll a Yahtzee in 2 minutes.
Actually, the stiffing happened on both "Yahtzee" and "The Reel to Reel Picture Show". Some deep Google News searching will find articles on both shows; I only found just the Oct. 1988 one for Yahtzee, but there's a lot more articles on Reel to Reel. (Those articles mention that Reel's entire staff, Peter Marshall included, ended up getting stiffed...that must have been a fun experience.)
Poor Jerry Stiller. This show was too little for him. And to think it would be 9 years after this that he finally gets to move in with Kevin James and Leah Remini. He had to wait such a long time that wil Arthur him!
Speaking of the late Mr. Goodson, we probably all wish that his son would have taken that advice with "Family Feud" in 1992 with adding the Bullseye Round to the show. Now, it seems that the current producers are bringing back memories that are best left buried by bringing back that round this fall on the Feud.
Am I the only one who understood Tom Poston's "presidential candidate" response to "What do people put on rice." In fact, that was my first guess. Here's the reference: washingtonpost(dot)com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/frenzy/hart2.htm
This is a terrible show. Even the normally wild Jo Anne Worley couldn't help! And is anyone else creeped out by Peter's leering and touching of Denise?
I really enjoyed this. Thanks for posting a complete episode of this rare show!

They're celebrating along with them congratulating them for that Yahtzee as good sportsmanship
Thanks for posting!
I can Clearly See that Yahtzee needs to be on GSN.
i love the game
A yahtzee right off the bat.
Thanks.
I wouldn't know. I grew up in Boston and didn't see this show, but based on its pace, I guess I didn't miss much.

I miss the 80's
Was the pilot taped in Los Angeles or New Jersey?

@Ramubay Not to mention +"High Rollers" + "Hot Potato".
I don't know if it cleared in LA...from what I've read it barely cleared anywhere!
Tom Poston LOL!! 3:08
@studlyj: I heard it was because his production company went bankrupt, which caused him to shut down the company.
Agreed. I have no idea what's going on.
R I p peter

I can confirm that it's true for Yahtzee. A Google News search turns up an October 1988 article saying that the winners were indeed stiffed.
nice. TV shows based on board games are the shit.
Peter Marshall was talking like an Italian.
@bisek I invite you to take a look at SCRABBLE with Chuck Woolery.
The Trump Castle later hosted the 1990 Game Show "Trump Card".
Yep! And the former President just got bankrupt!

Uh, The pilot?
A yahtzee on one roll. Are you kidding me?
If you guys think this is Peter Marshall's worst show, think again, the worst is actually The Reel To Reel picture show.
This is actually a pretty good show....kinda has a match game element to it but only slightly
Look for the "Spin-Off" clips. That was a better game based on Yahtzee, even if it didn't have the name.

Holy Hell, is this show bad. How long did this last anyway? Poor Peter went from Squares to this?
It's a combination on "Match Game", "Hollywood Squares", and "High Rollers". I think Gene Rayburn should've hosted this show.
What are those ridiculous clunky lunchbox-type things the celebrities had to write their answers on?!?
Great theme song & set...LOVE the dice table rising from the ground!
Too bad the format wasn't as good.
Or the dice...
COMMON YHATZEE
I still like the theme even if the show sucked. Seems like a rip off of Match Game just with dice.
This whole game show is a mess! And in more ways than one, I might add.
@gshowguy THAT'S TOTAL NONSENSE!!
I can hear this show's cheques bouncing right now..
What the........
If only Lori Loughlin joined this show once...
This gets my vote as the worst game show ever....certainly the set was nice, but too many doggone rules! Mark Goodson put it best....keep it simple.
A GSN classic, but this was just one of the worst game shows ever. -_- Glad they canceled it.
Think again, if you watch The Reel to Reel picture show, you'll have 2nd thoughts.
This is a terrible show. Even the normally wild Jo Anne Worley couldn't help! And is anyone else creeped out by Peter's leering and touching of Denise?
Trump Castle; Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Only fitting that a show taped at a Trump casino would not pay its contestants.
All these people who posted comments 12 years ago had no idea how big a punch line "From Trump's Castle" would become
