  • Riding the Trans America Trail coast to coast on our Honda CRF450RL and CRF450L dual sport motorcycles.
    We tackle as many Colorado mountain passes as we can in one day as we traverse the Trans America Trail on our Honda CRF450L dual sport motorcycles. We start with Engineer, then do Cinnamon, California, Hurricane, and Corkscrew, leading us to Black Bear. After a super sketchy descent down Black Bear into Telluride, we take on Imogene to finish the day.

      @@BillyTyo What he said. I've watched a lot of Black Bear Pass videos, and that's the fastest I've ever seen anyone attack "the steps". Most stop, check things out, take pics, etc., but you guys just bombed the way down!!! :-) Well done.

      @@waltermitty7452 thanks, we just went for it. It was a bit sketchy but thankfully we made it down safely. I stalled my bike about half way down and had the extra fun of trying to get it restarted during the descent 😂

      @@BillyTyo Three buddies and I were out in Colorado in late August, lived about 8 days off the bike...all hotels. We rode lots of passes, but there are still lots more to do....so we have a reason to go back. In addition to more Colorado riding, I dream of doing the TAT one day, so all the time and effort you guys put into making these videos is really appreciated.

    Sorry to hear about the GPS. If you're still in Colorado the state funded app, COTREX, is a pretty good free Map/GPS. It has downloadable map sections and uses your phones GPS to overlay your position.

    • @MrMrMckinley
      @MrMrMckinley 3 роки тому +2

      @@jacobtyo7805 No more problems; just seems to be idling low. From what've read on 'ThumperTalk: The screw is the minimum air flow screw. A baseline of sorts. The valve is what controls the extra airflow need to reach the correct idle speed.
      It is set below idle speed to reduce emissions and conserve fuel on decel. As the engine rpm gets close to the idle rpm the adds air as needed.
      The reason the adjuster has white paint on it is because adjusting it is an federal emissions violation and may cause grief at the dealer too.
      (It looks and flows the same as some partially dried up Testor model paint). 😉
      It is set by the factory to allow a specfic amount air flow.
      Adjusting the screw slightly should help solve the stalling problem, but the sensor should be adjusted and reset.'

    • @MrMrMckinley
      @MrMrMckinley 3 роки тому +3

      Going to the dealer in a week anyways, will ask them. After that, the warranty expires soon/will then mess with screw if needed ;)

    Awesome video! I plan on riding for about five days in Colorado next summer. I have two options.
    Option 1.
    Set up base camp in Ouray and do day trips through a lot of the passes (Blackbear, Imogene, engineer, Alpine Loop, ect)
    Option 2
    ride the Colorado section of the TransAmerican Trail.
    Which option would y’all recommend? Do you get to see a lot of the best views on the TransAmerican trail or would you recommend day trips out of Ouray?

      @@BillyTyo the 300L is probably the most fun that I have ever had on a motorcycle. I just came across this video so you may have said in another video but wondered what tire pressure you are carrying and if you have any special setup in the tire to prevent rim impact flats or rely on tire pressure to keep the tube from getting punctured. Since I had a full size extended cab pickup with no lift on it I only went to the summit of black bear and back out and then up to power house from the other side, however I did do Imogene and that was interesting with my size of vehicle in some sketchy spots you would never see as such on a bike.

An Englishman I knew who was into trials riding when he was younger, about 5 pounds is what he commented was running back then but it was on a light trials bike too, that would guarantee you a flat and a bent rim on your bike !
