Marichat works because there is a dynamic of them seeing eachother as who they really are. Ladrian they are both just goofy and awkward, Ladynoir is the joker tom cat and the career focused workaholic and adrianette a friend vs love struck crazy. Marichat works out cause the two act more like normal people when around eachother Adrian is not being his model self, Chat Noir is not being the joker cassanova, Marinette is not this crazy clumsy girl and Ladybug is no the serious and condoning person. Marichat is the only relationship that can grow and both see eachother all the others there is just no real growth.

Yes! Until now, nothing had changed much in their relationship unless Marichat happens. Marinette interacting with Chat Noir had changed her view on him so much that now she is fond and appreciative of him more than she was before. Truth ep: I like your humor! Now Adrian's view on Marinette has to change a bit more while Ladybug's fondness on Chat should grow. Most other routes had been nearly doomed except Marichat. Chat Blanc ruins LadyNoir and dooms Ladrian. Ephemeral dooms Adrinette. Marichat hasn't been ruined yet except Tom is supporting the ship and Andre is against it. Marinette/Ladybug so far had always crushed on Adrian and vice versa with Adrian/Chat Noir to Ladybug. Imagine what would change if Chat Noir and Marinette were to fall in love. Potentially for a lot of growth.
I never disliked Ladrien, but rather the lack of development ( big oof on the writers part)in it like you stated. I ship all ships of the love square- I don't have a favorite ship...at the end of the day if you ship one you ship all in a way. I really wish they gave it more screen time tho like we've barely seen a Ladrien moment in S4. I do agree on what your saying tho

Thomas has said (not in exactly these words) before that Adrien is perfect, and that Ladybug is perfect, while both Cat Noir and Marinette have flaws. Therefore, it’s clear that Marichat would mean that they’re falling in love with their much more human sides and not so much the facade that they show everyone. Also, when referring to Adrigami, Lukanette and how much quicker those relationships/feelings came about compared to that of the love square (excluding Ladrien), Thomas has also said that *infatuation happens quickly, while love takes a long time,* so I really love how it was pointed out that Ladrien feels like infatuation. Though this statement is referring to Adrigami and Lukanette, it can also be applied to Ladrien since they instantly liked each other too, so hopefully this foreshadows that Marichat will happen. I personally love the dynamic of Ladynoir the most, but I think Marichat has so much potential for development, so I really hope the creators utilise it.
I actually disagree with the idea that Lukanette and Adrigami were pure infatuation. I think the pacing was just terrible on the writers' part, especially with how both relationships became canon and were broken up in one (technically two) episode. It felt way too rushed for me to think that pure infatuation was the writers' actual intention.
Not a fan of adrigami whatsoever. It was kagami who basically pushed her feelings on adrien and was like “I just told you how I feel and I can’t believe you can’t answer me back”. It just felt toxic
Ladrien actually had a lot of room for development it just isn't being explored. This mindset that Ladrien isn't an interesting dynamic comes from the idea that a relationship has to be the end of the story, whereas in real life, the most interesting character development happens after the relationship has begun, and that "idealistic" version of eachother starts to fade and you development a deeper understanding for each other. actually exploring how a relationship grows is the fun part, rather than watching it before it even starts.

My answer for Fanfiction would differ to the show and my answers on the show would depend on the season. I.e. Ladynoir in season 1 is adorable ; in season 4 it's a broken mess. Marichat in fanfiction is great - Marichat in Canon is a disaster unless Winny wrote it. Ladrien in canon barely exists. & when it does nothing much happens - where as it has some use in Fanfiction where Marinette needs to get over her crazy crush issue and start seeing the boy as a person. Ladynoir in Fanfiction is very variable - sometimes LB is as horrible to Cat Noir as she is in Season 4 - other times they are as cute as a basket of kittens. I like Fanfiction better Marinette in fanfiction is a sympathetic character and isn't anywhere near as selfish as the canon one - who make me fume sometimes with her antics.

Or he invited her to a fancy event and she said yes? UM HELLO???? I like Ladrien because it's part of the WHOLE square. In a post-reveal Paris, Adrienette gives us the identity/reality of the relationship, Marichat shows the communication/friendship of the relationship, LadyNoir represents the trust/teamwork of the relationship, and Ladrien is the romance/attraction part of the love square given that it's mutual and reciprocated. Also... if we're attracted to what we can't have... well UMMM WHERE IS ALL THE LADRIEN CONTENT??? We literally can't have it. LOL But also... if you only want what you can't have, you'll never be happy with what you get.

The way i see it, i would add that it's a different archetypal relationship than the others. In this one, Ladybug plays the archetype of the mother. Adrien wants that nurturing, but it isn't what he needs. And Ladybug doesn't really see that she is feeding into that. It may seem perfect, however it embodies, probably the flaws on both sides, and the unhealthy parts of the relationship. It's why the relationships with Luka and Kagami failed. Adrien was dishonest, and having an emotional affair with both Ladybug and Marinette, and he never clued in him doing that. Marinette was having one for Adrien, and the secrets they keep is not something you want at the dinner table. Adrien keeps too many secrets when it comes to his feelings. He's oblivious in regards to this. Ladybug sometimes keeps secrets, and she can be dishonest with herself. It seems perfect, but all the wrong in their lives are symbolic with Ladrien
@@danielchaput884 miss me with that Freudian Oedipus Complex stuff about Adrien wanting to date his mom. HARD PASS. But I can see that Ladrien does embody some of the unhealthy aspects of Marinette's and Adrien's crushes in so much as they are both fixating on an image of the perfect partner and putting them up on a platform. But I also, think Ladrien could afford an opportunity to face and confront and fix those flaws. Because with the mask on, Marinette has a boost of confidence because she's hidden and less worried about being perceived as Adrien's clumsy "good friend" Marinette. And Adrien is more exposed, less able to hide behind his mask of machismo and cat puns. If it were explored properly as a dynamic, it's a chance for them to get experience talking to each other more naturally--Adrien has to navigate a conversation with Ladybug without calling her M'Lady and trying to be smooth and Marinette can work on actually saying coherent sentences to Adrien. They could become friends... and see each other differently. More comfortably. OR... imagine this: Adrien finds out she's been rejecting Chat Noir for him. And Marinette finds out that Adrien loves Ladybug, but not Marinette. Imagine Ladybug tells Chat that the Boy She Secretly Loves only notices her as a superhero, not a civilian and he says "it's usually the opposite for me..." and he covers that slip with "I mean, girls love me ... but I can't seem to get the one I like to notice me, once I'm in the mask" ;) . Or the MariChat after this? Marinette telling Chat Noir that she thinks Buttercup has a crush on the idea of her but that he doesn't really know her. Or Chat Noir saying Ladybug only likes him in his civilian form and Marinette pAniCS because DID SHE ACCIDENTLY MEET CHAT NOIR IN CIVILLIAN FORM AND HE THINKS SHE LIKED HIM?
I loved loved LOVED this take and agree with you 1000% I think once we have a reveal a big part of that infatuation will die down and we’ll be left with romance. I know with Chat Blanc the infatuation was still very evident, but the dynamics of the relationship in Glaciator 2.0 is what I think (and hope) the real relationship will be like. With Chat Blanc the reveals happened accidentally, neither of them were truly ready and it showed in the way they behaved when it came to the other. Glaciator 2.0 showed a sweet budding romance with the excitement and novelty of a new love, but also with the maturity they have both gained since chat Blanc.
Marichat and Ladrien are exact opposites in the love square. When it comes to their love story, it should mean that Marichat is about growing enchanted with each other, whereas Ladrien is about growing disenchanted with each other. And here is where the writers have done nothing so far. We see through the other two ships how Adrien comes to see Marinette in a different light, as well as Marinette becoming fonder and fonder of Chat. The initial obstacles of clashing personalities and shy behavior are gradually being cleared through the interactions of Ladynoir, Marichat and Adrienette. But Ladrien has done absolutely nothing to reintroduce that conflict from their side. Adrien is perfect to Ladybug and Ladybug is perfect to Adrien. But what needs to happen is that he needs to crack a dumb joke around her she'll facepalm at or charge into a situation without thinking. And Ladybug needs to come up with an overly complicated plan Adrien will object to or withhold information from him. The things they usually dislike about each other. Marichat is the preferred ship (mine, too) because we see steps being taken into the direction of them falling in love with their true selves, without a lot of drama. Ladrien is, as you have said, still just blushing at each other. They need to step backwards and out of their "perfect love" bubble though, where they see each other's flaws and acknowledge and accept them. That was basically Marinette's issue in Ephemeral. She had massive difficulties reconciling Adrien with Chat, not because she never gave Chat's good points a chance, but because she never saw Adrien's "bad" ones. Meaning him being a silly goofball. In stark contrast to that Adrien loved Marinette from the get-go because the kid is very used to being frustrated with Ladybug, so her turning out to be Marinette was not taken negatively in any way. Where Marinette thought Adrien would be disappointed, he was relieved his Lady was one of his best friends. TL;DR Ladrien is not boring because they're blindly in love with each other, it's boring because they're not falling out of it to truly see who the other is and fall in love with that real/complete version.
Honestly, I wish there was a season 4 episode that did have Ladrien interact while he becomes disillusioned with her and Ladybug realizes Adrien has become very cold towards her.
I agree because... 1.) MariChat - Here, they learn to love both sides of each other. They are like chaotic best friends but we would love to see their dynamic slowly blossom into romance. 2.) LadyNoir - They act like a married couple sometimes but Ladybug needs to learn to love Cat Noir. She sometimes treats him badly and he sometimes oversteps his boundaries, but it's cute to see him sacrifice himself for her and tell Ladybug how much she means to him. They used to have more trust in each other and always playfully joked with one another which I miss. I hope their trust will soon be restored. 3.) Adrienette - It's a very cute ship but what I don't like is how obsessed Marinette is with Adrien. I'm frustrated with Adrien's obliviousness to his feelings for her but also the fact that it's been four seasons and Marinette still can't talk normally with him. It's very frustrating. 4.) Ladrien - The video basically explains it. They already like these sides to each other and if they dated they would not learn to appreciate the supposedly more "imperfect" sides to themselves, MariChat.
Honestly, Ladrien is at the bottom of the love square for me, the dynamic does make for some good fanfic, but in the show, it's evident that there isn't much conflict or obstacles to overcome other than Adrien needing saving or emotional talk compared to the other side of the love square. It also reminds me of some TV shows that I used to watch when there was instant love, they're a couple, and they're perfect, just no. They're still cute together, and their side of the love square is the love and physical attraction they have for one other, but unless somewhere in s4 or s5 we see some sort of conflict or drama for this side of the love square, it's going to remain in the bottom of the list for me.
For me ladrien is at the bottom too, along with adrienette because I absolutely hate marinette when shes around adrien. I know shes gotten better but stalker marinette still lives in my mind. When she's with chat noir shes so much more comfortable. Thats how relationships should be. Anxiety is not the feeling to have.

Meh Ladrien to me is the only ship where Adrien seems to be less of a show off and I actually consider to be his less perfect/ more vulnerable side to his personality to Ladybug. I mean like Adrien literally admitted in Glaciator 2 that Chat is an act so you can't say Adrien is "faking" a side of himself. It's just that Ladrien's screentime is ALWAYS during an akuma attack compared to Marichat tbh where even they get a more fleshed out time to talk. That's my opinion tho~^^

Chat Noir being his "true self" is actually destroyed at Glaciator 2 where Adrien says "Marinette's opened my eyes" and "maybe if I showed her the real me, she'd fall in love with me". Adrien's true self isn't the model boy. That's what his father wants him to be as well as what the public thinks he is so he goes by that role as a civilian when he's with others. Chat on the other hand is his self where he gets to loosen up but Chat Noir is a manifestation of what Adrien THINKS a superhero should "act" like. A charming person who plays the strong, handsome and sexy hero. So that's how he acts like. From what we assume he would get from fictional books and movies where girls instantly like those kind of guys. That's why he LOVES wooing LB as the role of "Chat Noir" because he THINKS that's what he should do when in fact it's wrong. That's why he said that Mari opened his eyes at the end of Glaciator 2, because Marinette (may I recall is very similar to his Lady) hinted in her true confession that she fell in love with "buttercup" for knowing who he really is.

As some food for thought, when Thomas was asked "what is Adrien's real personality" on Twitter he said that both Adrien and Chat are true personalities of the same person: two sides of the same coin. It's so obvious in retrospective, but I find it fitting that the fandom has such a hard time reconciling the fact just as much as Marinette had in ephemeral, even though that unlike Marinette, we are the literal expectators with a world-wide view of the characters.
Ladrien has always been my fave purely because the girl gets to save the boy. The girl gets to be heroic and flashy and the boy gets to look on in awe and be totally dumbstruck. Call me generic or whatever but I am so down for that every time.
I find hypocrite and superficial to call Ladrien boring when the moment Marinette and Adrien find out the identities, Ladrien is the dynamic they default to: one of loving support and appreciation. But the thing that baffles me the most is the fan need of favoring a "ship" over another... When they are exactly the very same people??? Hi if you want some signs of adrien's crush on marinette I can tell you one. In the episode horrificator when everybody is in the boiler room with ladybug and catnoir, ladybug calls out the names of everyone to make sure there ok. Then she says adrien, to speak as adrien, catnoir hides behind one of the things and says that he is fine. Then he asks 'how is marinette'. He cares about her. Otherwise if she were 'JUST A FRIEND' he would'nt care about how are his friends or something. He would have just focused on himself. He cares about her, and might as well has a crush on her. This is just one of the many signs of adrien's crush on marinette.

If marichat were to happen in season 5 it would be because of Adrien realizing getting with Marinette as adrien is not working but maybe he'll have better luck as cat noir. At the same time Marinette is in denial about Adrien but maybe as cat noir visits her Marinette begins to fall for cat noir. It's just speculation and probably not going to happen but I would LOVEEEE to see more marichat in season 5.

People have got it all wrong. Ladrien is great. The show however does not take the time to develop it as it should. I have a huge unpopular opinion when I say that Ladrien is actually my favourite ship out of the four in the love square, and Marichat is very close behind it. The reason I actually love Ladrien is because it breaks stereotypes, and if the show runners actually took the time to make Adrien and Ladybug spend some time together, they would both come to realise how much more human their crushes are. At the moment, Ladybug and Adrien see each other as perfect. Them spending time together would obviously break that illusion, which is extremely important if they need to learn to like each other’s alter egos. Also, it’s just adorable. I live for the strong girl x soft boy trope, especially with how little it’s done. Again, I’m in the minority, but I really hate how the lack of development in this dynamic makes the entire fandom despise it when it has SO much potential. Ladrien is honestly so underrated.

Exactly my point of view on Ladrien. And I'm somehow still hoping for a real Ladrien in season 4 to see if their change (a little bit) or not and it would fair compared to the other ships. As for a Ladrien moment in season 4, I kinda hope for Ladrien "angst", like Adrien being sad (feeling "replaced" or feeling "useless" in the team -> the emotions, he bottles up) and comforting him as Ladybug, somehow reversed Marichat (referring to Glaciator 1), seeing his flaws and seeing that just because he smiles everyday, his life isn't perfect, how it seems to her.
Not going to lie, you're right about the ship. But it also presents some massive room for development in my opinion, since eventually as they get to know each other better, they'll start seeing the imperfections the other has. Adrien trusts LB, so who's to say he won't ask for advice for something related to his friends or father for example? Honestly, they might be the "perfect" couple, but them realizing how untrue that is would make for such an interesting storyline.
The main Reason i love Ladrien is because its the ship when adrien loves ladybug and ladybug loves adrien its the ship where they both love or like each other and the others ships are like a confusion of feelings (no hate to the other ships I love them all in their own way!)
I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY: I feel like even if we DID get Ladrien, it wouldn’t work out in the end because Ladybug will likely start to behave more like ‘clumsy, nervous, close-to-adrien marinette’, which isn’t what Adrien became infatuated by, because he sees marinette and ladybug as different people. They will fall out.

I kind of see Ladrien as cute moments rather than a relationship because their moments are far and few between and they mostly contain Ladybug trying to get Adrien out of danger and Adrien trying to find an opportunity to suit up undetected. While I personally like the moments, I wouldn't really like to see a relationship directly develop from this

And I really now want some marichat moments, kinda crush crush, BUT STILL HAVE DIALOG! and ladrien to be like, yh I like you but I'm a confused teenager and I also like someone else rn XD

Ladrien could work if their other personality quirks start to come to the surface when they get comfortable with each other, and it'll create conflict since neither of them expect their crush to act in a way they weren't really into.
Ladrien is like having 2 people who loved each other from the start, but because the crush was so big, both of them have litterally NO chemistry because they don't feel safe enough to even LOOK. in the direction of each other-- THE SHIP GOES NO WHERE.

Yes - I’m a paranormal romance writer (Crescent Crown Saga) and it’s so important to have dynamic and even tension between the love interests. In this way “opposites attract” so my female MC is a bit arrogant and my male MC is humble and down to earth. She is experienced with the magical world and he is inexperienced and naive. She teaches him darkness and he teaches her the light so they are in a dance with one another. They piss each other off sometimes, have debates and different ideas about how to react to the enemy but they are loyal to one another and care for one another. They learn WHY they have differences bc their experience of the world is different and that deepens their love for one another. In the 3rd novel there is a breach of trust that they must overcome. They both act out of selfishness for one another but that which harms their ultimate shared goal so they must have a heart to heart and give up that selfishness so they can return home safely. These are points of deep emotional conflict they can grow from and forge a stronger relationship from. For Adrien and Marinette the problem is that they are both very nice, and they hide their confidence behind masks. So the writers must force the dynamic between the love square bc the base characters on their own do not show their true colors in either setting. So it’s an interesting way to develop them - I’m so excited for the reverse!! And I also love Marichat 🥰
My favourite ships out of the love square in order 1. Ladynoir 2. A tie between Marichat and Adrienette 3. Ladrien I dont mind if you share your opinions with me, aslong as they aren’t toxic, then you’re cool I feel like a big symbol about ladynoir was the tin and yang symbols. The idea that they both complement and each other is such a large part of their relationship and is strictly tied to their superhero forms. The symbol was shown A LOT, especially when it came to Master Fu’s miracle box, and he was the one who brought them together after all. I also like how they can trust eachother blindly even though they keep secrets from one another is just adorable. Also, i feel like ladynoir has the closest relationship out of the other love square ships. Ladynoir is cute, powerful, and complex at the same time. It has gone through the most progression. In s4 their relationship was bumpy, i admit, but every relationship has it’s ups and downs, and i feel like the ups and downs of Ladynoir are shown brilliantly. And i truly believe that when they make up after their huge (and very possible) argument, their bond will be stronger than ever.
This is honestly how I also feel about any time the pair has gotten together after an identity reveal like in Chat Blanc or Ephemeral. Once they know who the other is and get together, they're just boring. The only interesting part of their relationship in either of those episodes was Marinette freaking out about Adrien being Chat Noir and learning to reconcile his two halves, but it only lasted a couple minutes, when it's an issue that should really be given its own episode. I feel like maybe some version of the pair should get together before the reveal, to make it more interesting.
It could be better if either of them decided to be vulnerable around the other. Like if Ladybug cried over all the pressure she goes through (or over an Adrien related issue) and Adrien comforted her, then that could be a nice moment. Or if Adrien tells Ladybug that he's actually a fuRRy (or at the very least not cool) or like confides in him. Come to think of it, wonder what it would had been like if Ladybug went to comfort Adrien in Glaciator 2 while he was crying over her.

I was thinking to myself and realized For ladrien to work in the best way some form of an identity reveal has to happen sort of like in ephemeral except not world ending as then they would see more flaws in each other and the difficulties that figuring out feelings and having a relationship would cause
If I could pick the dynamic of my future relationship, I would go with Ladynoir in general, because their teamwork is amazing and they get through the hardest times together and never let each other down. BUT I'd also love a Marichat side because it's just frickin adorable and the sweetest
I think with Marichat, Marinette can see Chat Noir more than just the superhero she interacts with as Ladybug and Adrien can see Marinette being herself and not constantly flustered. This way, when the reveal happens, they'll have already seen each other in a light they otherwise wouldn't see.
Ok yes we get it, the fandom (at least me) does not dislike Ladrien, yes I get your point, but you gotta realise too that they are the SAME people! Yes, the love square is basically one ship and in the end they will know eachother's identities and they will be happy together but how it happens and what kind of developement every side of the love square gets IS IMPORTANT. I don't ship Marichat (I mean I do but only in context of the whole love square), I don't even want them to be in actual relationship before the reveal but I think them falling in love is the best and healthiest way for them to end up together

tbh i dont have a fav in the square as my ideal would be a reveal, those are my fav fanfics for them, and in doing so i would get each part ideally. so i would see marichat moments, ladrien moments, ladynoir moments and adrinette moments. hey its my ideal so i get to dream big. it wouldnt be hard to do either. have one figure it out before the other, eg adrien, and drop hints or flirt as both chat and adrien to ladybug and marinette so that would be a couple of the ships, adrinette, marichat and maybe ladynoir, and then have the other, marinette, figure it out and go after them to tell them/flirt and voila we get the rest of the ships, ladrien and ladynoir ^.^
Let’s not forget that at the end of the day they are the same person and when they find each other’s identities they will fall in love with all sides with eachother
For me ladynoir is my favourite ship since it’s the one that has the most ups and down in season 1 LB didn’t let cat noir kiss her hand and she told him non stop to stop calling her bugaboo but as it progressed to season 3 she’s fine with the hand kisses and had nice encouraging moments in season 4 they seem to get really mad with each other which is what good couples need a good couple has up and down moments where they get messy and help each other in the end, in the other ships like adrienette we kinda see this in season 3/4 with adrigami and lukanette and pupeteer 2 but other than that we don’t see the same good couple structure for marichat we don’t see up and down moments but we see loads of heart to hearts which is amazing. Now for ladrien we don’t see any of this at all in fact they barely talk unless ladybug is saving him all they do is look at each other weirdly, blush and say hi, which is why no one likes this ship
my fav order of the love square : 1. LadyNoir 2. MariChat 3. Adrienette 4. Ladrien these may change in the future if something happens later on, but this is the list currently.
This is making me want to see a fight or argument between Adrien and Ladybug. Like, since Cat Noir is being pushed to the side, that's gonna hurt, right? So if he saw Ladybug as Adrien, maybe he'd lash out at her if she tried to save him or something with a hero that wasn't him? Idk but I think seeing some kind of angst between Adrien and Ladybug would be a good idea - especially since doing so could lead to Adrien opening up to Marinette about Ladybug, so we'd get Adrienette development too.

~MariChat is my favorite ship and in my opinion the best ship. This ship is the most dynamic. Mari doesn’t love Chat and vise versa. When these two fall in love with each other, they truly appreciate the real and authentic sides of each other. ~I don’t hate Ladrien but that ship is like stale bread. Where’s the flavor??? This ship basically romanticize the “perfect” sides of these characters and doesn’t highlight the flaws or authenticity of the characters true selves. Yes! Until now, nothing had changed much in their relationship unless Marichat happens. Marinette interacting with Chat Noir had changed her view on him so much that now she is fond and appreciative of him more than she was before. Truth ep: I like your humor! Now Adrian's view on Marinette has to change a bit more while Ladybug's fondness on Chat should grow. Most other routes had been nearly doomed except Marichat. Chat Blanc ruins LadyNoir and dooms Ladrian. Ephemeral dooms Adrinette. Marichat hasn't been ruined yet except Tom is supporting the ship and Andre is against it. Marinette/Ladybug so far had always crushed on Adrian and vice versa with Adrian/Chat Noir to Ladybug. Imagine what would change if Chat Noir and Marinette were to fall in love. Thomas has said (not in exactly these words) before that Adrien is perfect, and that Ladybug is perfect, while both Cat Noir and Marinette have flaws. Therefore, it’s clear that Marichat would mean that they’re falling in love with their much more human sides and not so much the facade that they show everyone. Also, when referring to Adrigami, Lukanette and how much quicker those relationships/feelings came about compared to that of the love square (excluding Ladrien), Thomas has also said that *infatuation happens quickly, while love takes a long time,* so I really love how it was pointed out that Ladrien feels like infatuation. Though this statement is referring to Adrigami and Lukanette, it can also be applied to Ladrien since they instantly liked each other too, so hopefully this foreshadows that Marichat will happen. I personally love the dynamic of Ladynoir the most, but I think Marichat has so much potential for development, so I really hope the creators utilise it.

I actually disagree with the idea that Lukanette and Adrigami were pure infatuation. I think the pacing was just terrible on the writers' part, especially with how both relationships became canon and were broken up in one (technically two) episode. It felt way too rushed for me to think that pure infatuation was the writers' actual intention.

Ladrien actually had a lot of room for development it just isn't being explored. This mindset that Ladrien isn't an interesting dynamic comes from the idea that a relationship has to be the end of the story, whereas in real life, the most interesting character development happens after the relationship has begun, and that "idealistic" version of eachother starts to fade and you development a deeper understanding for each other. actually exploring how a relationship grows is the fun part, rather than watching it before it even starts.

My answer for Fanfiction would differ to the show and my answers on the show would depend on the season.
I.e. Ladynoir in season 1 is adorable ; in season 4 it's a broken mess.
Marichat in fanfiction is great - Marichat in Canon is a disaster unless Winny wrote it.
Ladrien in canon barely exists. & when it does nothing much happens - where as it has some use in Fanfiction where Marinette needs to get over her crazy crush issue and start seeing the boy as a person.
Ladynoir in Fanfiction is very variable - sometimes LB is as horrible to Cat Noir as she is in Season 4 - other times they are as cute as a basket of kittens.
I like Fanfiction better Marinette in fanfiction is a sympathetic character and isn't anywhere near as selfish as the canon one - who make me fume sometimes with her antics.

I don't think Ladrien is without obstacles JUST because they are already infatuated. In fact, infatuation IS the obstacle they have to overcome. Or he invited her to a fancy event and she said yes? UM HELLO????
I like Ladrien because it's part of the WHOLE square. In a post-reveal Paris, Adrienette gives us the identity/reality of the relationship, Marichat shows the communication/friendship of the relationship, LadyNoir represents the trust/teamwork of the relationship, and Ladrien is the romance/attraction part of the love square given that it's mutual and reciprocated.
Also... if we're attracted to what we can't have... well UMMM WHERE IS ALL THE LADRIEN CONTENT??? We literally can't have it. LOL But also... if you only want what you can't have, you'll never be happy with what you get.

The way i see it, i would add that it's a different archetypal relationship than the others. In this one, Ladybug plays the archetype of the mother. Adrien wants that nurturing, but it isn't what he needs. And Ladybug doesn't really see that she is feeding into that.
It may seem perfect, however it embodies, probably the flaws on both sides, and the unhealthy parts of the relationship.
It's why the relationships with Luka and Kagami failed. Adrien was dishonest, and having an emotional affair with both Ladybug and Marinette, and he never clued in him doing that. Marinette was having one for Adrien, and the secrets they keep is not something you want at the dinner table.
Adrien keeps too many secrets when it comes to his feelings. He's oblivious in regards to this. Ladybug sometimes keeps secrets, and she can be dishonest with herself.
It seems perfect, but all the wrong in their lives are symbolic with Ladrien

But I can see that Ladrien does embody some of the unhealthy aspects of Marinette's and Adrien's crushes in so much as they are both fixating on an image of the perfect partner and putting them up on a platform.
But I also, think Ladrien could afford an opportunity to face and confront and fix those flaws. Because with the mask on, Marinette has a boost of confidence because she's hidden and less worried about being perceived as Adrien's clumsy "good friend" Marinette. And Adrien is more exposed, less able to hide behind his mask of machismo and cat puns. If it were explored properly as a dynamic, it's a chance for them to get experience talking to each other more naturally--Adrien has to navigate a conversation with Ladybug without calling her M'Lady and trying to be smooth and Marinette can work on actually saying coherent sentences to Adrien. They could become friends... and see each other differently. More comfortably.
OR... imagine this: Adrien finds out she's been rejecting Chat Noir for him. And Marinette finds out that Adrien loves Ladybug, but not Marinette. Imagine Ladybug tells Chat that the Boy She Secretly Loves only notices her as a superhero, not a civilian and he says "it's usually the opposite for me..." and he covers that slip with "I mean, girls love me ... but I can't seem to get the one I like to notice me, once I'm in the mask" ;) .
Or the MariChat after this? Marinette telling Chat Noir that she thinks Buttercup has a crush on the idea of her but that he doesn't really know her. Or Chat Noir saying Ladybug only likes him in his civilian form and Marinette pAniCS because DID SHE ACCIDENTLY MEET CHAT NOIR IN CIVILLIAN FORM AND HE THINKS SHE LIKED HIM?

I think once we have a reveal a big part of that infatuation will die down and we’ll be left with romance. I know with Chat Blanc the infatuation was still very evident, but the dynamics of the relationship in Glaciator 2.0 is what I think (and hope) the real relationship will be like. With Chat Blanc the reveals happened accidentally, neither of them were truly ready and it showed in the way they behaved when it came to the other. Glaciator 2.0 showed a sweet budding romance with the excitement and novelty of a new love, but also with the maturity they have both gained since chat Blanc.

Marichat and Ladrien are exact opposites in the love square. When it comes to their love story, it should mean that Marichat is about growing enchanted with each other, whereas Ladrien is about growing disenchanted with each other. And here is where the writers have done nothing so far. We see through the other two ships how Adrien comes to see Marinette in a different light, as well as Marinette becoming fonder and fonder of Chat. The initial obstacles of clashing personalities and shy behavior are gradually being cleared through the interactions of Ladynoir, Marichat and Adrienette.
But Ladrien has done absolutely nothing to reintroduce that conflict from their side. Adrien is perfect to Ladybug and Ladybug is perfect to Adrien. But what needs to happen is that he needs to crack a dumb joke around her she'll facepalm at or charge into a situation without thinking. And Ladybug needs to come up with an overly complicated plan Adrien will object to or withhold information from him. The things they usually dislike about each other.
Marichat is the preferred ship (mine, too) because we see steps being taken into the direction of them falling in love with their true selves, without a lot of drama. Ladrien is, as you have said, still just blushing at each other. They need to step backwards and out of their "perfect love" bubble though, where they see each other's flaws and acknowledge and accept them.
That was basically Marinette's issue in Ephemeral. She had massive difficulties reconciling Adrien with Chat, not because she never gave Chat's good points a chance, but because she never saw Adrien's "bad" ones. Meaning him being a silly goofball.
In stark contrast to that Adrien loved Marinette from the get-go because the kid is very used to being frustrated with Ladybug, so her turning out to be Marinette was not taken negatively in any way. Where Marinette thought Adrien would be disappointed, he was relieved his Lady was one of his best friends.
TL;DR Ladrien is not boring because they're blindly in love with each other, it's boring because they're not falling out of it to truly see who the other is and fall in love with that real/complete version.
Honestly, I wish there was a season 4 episode that did have Ladrien interact while he becomes disillusioned with her and Ladybug realizes Adrien has become very cold towards her.

1.) MariChat - Here, they learn to love both sides of each other. They are like chaotic best friends but we would love to see their dynamic slowly blossom into romance.
2.) LadyNoir - They act like a married couple sometimes but Ladybug needs to learn to love Cat Noir. She sometimes treats him badly and he sometimes oversteps his boundaries, but it's cute to see him sacrifice himself for her and tell Ladybug how much she means to him. They used to have more trust in each other and always playfully joked with one another which I miss. I hope their trust will soon be restored.
3.) Adrienette - It's a very cute ship but what I don't like is how obsessed Marinette is with Adrien. I'm frustrated with Adrien's obliviousness to his feelings for her but also the fact that it's been four seasons and Marinette still can't talk normally with him. It's very frustrating.
4.) Ladrien - The video basically explains it. They already like these sides to each other and if they dated they would not learn to appreciate the supposedly more "imperfect" sides to themselves, MariChat.

Honestly, Ladrien is at the bottom of the love square for me, the dynamic does make for some good fanfic, but in the show, it's evident that there isn't much conflict or obstacles to overcome other than Adrien needing saving or emotional talk compared to the other side of the love square. It also reminds me of some TV shows that I used to watch when there was instant love, they're a couple, and they're perfect, just no. They're still cute together, and their side of the love square is the love and physical attraction they have for one other, but unless somewhere in s4 or s5 we see some sort of conflict or drama for this side of the love square, it's going to remain in the bottom of the list for me.
For me ladrien is at the bottom too, along with adrienette because I absolutely hate marinette when shes around adrien. I know shes gotten better but stalker marinette still lives in my mind. When she's with chat noir shes so much more comfortable. Thats how relationships should be. Anxiety is not the feeling to have.

Meh Ladrien to me is the only ship where Adrien seems to be less of a show off and I actually consider to be his less perfect/ more vulnerable side to his personality to Ladybug. It's just that Ladrien's screentime is ALWAYS during an akuma attack compared to Marichat tbh where even they get a more fleshed out time to talk. That's my opinion tho~^^

Hi if you want some signs of adrien's crush on marinette I can tell you one.
In the episode horrificator when everybody is in the boiler room with ladybug and catnoir, ladybug calls out the names of everyone to make sure there ok. Then she says adrien, to speak as adrien, catnoir hides behind one of the things and says that he is fine. Then he asks 'how is marinette'. He cares about her. Otherwise if she were 'JUST A FRIEND' he would'nt care about how are his friends or something. He would have just focused on himself. He cares about her, and might as well has a crush on her. This is just one of the many signs of adrien's crush on marinette.

If marichat were to happen in season 5 it would be because of Adrien realizing getting with Marinette as adrien is not working but maybe he'll have better luck as cat noir. At the same time Marinette is in denial about Adrien but maybe as cat noir visits her Marinette begins to fall for cat noir. It's just speculation and probably not going to happen but I would LOVEEEE to see more marichat in season 5.
I know y'all don't like Ladrien but I have to admit, I love the part that Adrien blew Ladybug a kiss. AWWWW !!

People have got it all wrong. Ladrien is great. The show however does not take the time to develop it as it should. I have a huge unpopular opinion when I say that Ladrien is actually my favourite ship out of the four in the love square, and Marichat is very close behind it. The reason I actually love Ladrien is because it breaks stereotypes, and if the show runners actually took the time to make Adrien and Ladybug spend some time together, they would both come to realise how much more human their crushes are. At the moment, Ladybug and Adrien see each other as perfect. Them spending time together would obviously break that illusion, which is extremely important if they need to learn to like each other’s alter egos. Also, it’s just adorable. I live for the strong girl x soft boy trope, especially with how little it’s done. Again, I’m in the minority, but I really hate how the lack of development in this dynamic makes the entire fandom despise it when it has SO much potential. Ladrien is honestly so underrated.

Exactly my point of view on Ladrien. And I'm somehow still hoping for a real Ladrien in season 4 to see if their change (a little bit) or not and it would fair compared to the other ships. As for a Ladrien moment in season 4, I kinda hope for Ladrien "angst", like Adrien being sad (feeling "replaced" or feeling "useless" in the team -> the emotions, he bottles up) and comforting him as Ladybug, somehow reversed Marichat (referring to Glaciator 1), seeing his flaws and seeing that just because he smiles everyday, his life isn't perfect, how it seems to her.
Not going to lie, you're right about the ship. But it also presents some massive room for development in my opinion, since eventually as they get to know each other better, they'll start seeing the imperfections the other has. Adrien trusts LB, so who's to say he won't ask for advice for something related to his friends or father for example? Honestly, they might be the "perfect" couple, but them realizing how untrue that is would make for such an interesting storyline.
The main Reason i love Ladrien is because its the ship when adrien loves ladybug and ladybug loves adrien its the ship where they both love or like each other and the others ships are like a confusion of feelings (no hate to the other ships I love them all in their own way!)

I feel like even if we DID get Ladrien, it wouldn’t work out in the end because Ladybug will likely start to behave more like ‘clumsy, nervous, close-to-adrien marinette’, which isn’t what Adrien became infatuated by, because he sees marinette and ladybug as different people. They will fall out.

I kind of see Ladrien as cute moments rather than a relationship because their moments are far and few between and they mostly contain Ladybug trying to get Adrien out of danger and Adrien trying to find an opportunity to suit up undetected. While I personally like the moments, I wouldn't really like to see a relationship directly develop from this

I agree, but I absolutely adore Ladrien because of Adrien’s calm and quiet admiration for Ladybug. Chat Noir is hilarious of course, but it’s cool to see the same person cut the cringey lines of affection and just adore Ladybug from afar and act in a shy but respectful way.

Yes - I’m a paranormal romance writer (Crescent Crown Saga) and it’s so important to have dynamic and even tension between the love interests. In this way “opposites attract” so my female MC is a bit arrogant and my male MC is humble and down to earth. She is experienced with the magical world and he is inexperienced and naive. She teaches him darkness and he teaches her the light so they are in a dance with one another. They piss each other off sometimes, have debates and different ideas about how to react to the enemy but they are loyal to one another and care for one another. They learn WHY they have differences bc their experience of the world is different and that deepens their love for one another. In the 3rd novel there is a breach of trust that they must overcome. They both act out of selfishness for one another but that which harms their ultimate shared goal so they must have a heart to heart and give up that selfishness so they can return home safely. These are points of deep emotional conflict they can grow from and forge a stronger relationship from.
For Adrien and Marinette the problem is that they are both very nice, and they hide their confidence behind masks. So the writers must force the dynamic between the love square bc the base characters on their own do not show their true colors in either setting. So it’s an interesting way to develop them - I’m so excited for the reverse!! And I also love Marichat 🥰

I feel like a big symbol about ladynoir was the tin and yang symbols. The idea that they both complement and each other is such a large part of their relationship and is strictly tied to their superhero forms. The symbol was shown A LOT, especially when it came to Master Fu’s miracle box, and he was the one who brought them together after all. I also like how they can trust eachother blindly even though they keep secrets from one another is just adorable. Also, i feel like ladynoir has the closest relationship out of the other love square ships. Ladynoir is cute, powerful, and complex at the same time. It has gone through the most progression. In s4 their relationship was bumpy, i admit, but every relationship has it’s ups and downs, and i feel like the ups and downs of Ladynoir are shown brilliantly. And i truly believe that when they make up after their huge (and very possible) argument, their bond will be stronger than ever.

This is honestly how I also feel about any time the pair has gotten together after an identity reveal like in Chat Blanc or Ephemeral. Once they know who the other is and get together, they're just boring. The only interesting part of their relationship in either of those episodes was Marinette freaking out about Adrien being Chat Noir and learning to reconcile his two halves, but it only lasted a couple minutes, when it's an issue that should really be given its own episode. I feel like maybe some version of the pair should get together before the reveal, to make it more interesting.

It could be better if either of them decided to be vulnerable around the other. Like if Ladybug cried over all the pressure she goes through (or over an Adrien related issue) and Adrien comforted her, then that could be a nice moment. Or if Adrien tells Ladybug that he's actually a fuRRy (or at the very least not cool) or like confides in him.
Come to think of it, wonder what it would had been like if Ladybug went to comfort Adrien in Glaciator 2 while he was crying over her.

If I could pick the dynamic of my future relationship, I would go with Ladynoir in general, because their teamwork is amazing and they get through the hardest times together and never let each other down. BUT I'd also love a Marichat side because it's just frickin adorable and the sweetest

I think with Marichat, Marinette can see Chat Noir more than just the superhero she interacts with as Ladybug and Adrien can see Marinette being herself and not constantly flustered. This way, when the reveal happens, they'll have already seen each other in a light they otherwise wouldn't see.

Yes, the love square is basically one ship and in the end they will know eachother's identities and they will be happy together but how it happens and what kind of developement every side of the love square gets IS IMPORTANT. I don't ship Marichat (I mean I do but only in context of the whole love square), I don't even want them to be in actual relationship before the reveal but I think them falling in love is the best and healthiest way for them to end up together

tbh i dont have a fav in the square as my ideal would be a reveal, those are my fav fanfics for them, and in doing so i would get each part ideally. so i would see marichat moments, ladrien moments, ladynoir moments and adrinette moments. hey its my ideal so i get to dream big. it wouldnt be hard to do either. have one figure it out before the other, eg adrien, and drop hints or flirt as both chat and adrien to ladybug and marinette so that would be a couple of the ships, adrinette, marichat and maybe ladynoir, and then have the other, marinette, figure it out and go after them to tell them/flirt and voila we get the rest of the ships, ladrien and ladynoir ^.^
Let’s not forget that at the end of the day they are the same person and when they find each other’s identities they will fall in love with all sides with eachother
For me ladynoir is my favourite ship since it’s the one that has the most ups and down in season 1 LB didn’t let cat noir kiss her hand and she told him non stop to stop calling her bugaboo but as it progressed to season 3 she’s fine with the hand kisses and had nice encouraging moments in season 4 they seem to get really mad with each other which is what good couples need a good couple has up and down moments where they get messy and help each other in the end, in the other ships like adrienette we kinda see this in season 3/4 with adrigami and lukanette and pupeteer 2 but other than that we don’t see the same good couple structure for marichat we don’t see up and down moments but we see loads of heart to hearts which is amazing. Now for ladrien we don’t see any of this at all in fact they barely talk unless ladybug is saving him all they do is look at each other weirdly, blush and say hi, which is why no one likes this ship

This is making me want to see a fight or argument between Adrien and Ladybug. Like, since Cat Noir is being pushed to the side, that's gonna hurt, right? So if he saw Ladybug as Adrien, maybe he'd lash out at her if she tried to save him or something with a hero that wasn't him? Idk but I think seeing some kind of angst between Adrien and Ladybug would be a good idea - especially since doing so could lead to Adrien opening up to Marinette about Ladybug, so we'd get Adrienette development too.

~MariChat is my favorite ship and in my opinion the best ship. This ship is the most dynamic. Mari doesn’t love Chat and vise versa. When these two fall in love with each other, they truly appreciate the real and authentic sides of each other.
~I don’t hate Ladrien but that ship is like stale bread. Where’s the flavor??? This ship basically romanticize the “perfect” sides of these characters and doesn’t highlight the flaws or authenticity of the characters true selves. Again, I’m not basing on people for liking Ladrien, but this is just my opinion.
