Got a Beretta 81BB on 32acp about 2 yrs ago in near new condition for $199.99. I love it. So much fun to shoot. Accurate, reliable, very low recoil and they fit the hand so nice Well made guns that will last an average person a lifetime or more.
Nice review of a great Beretta! The 81fs is my choice for daily carry. I really like the 7,65mm cartridge a lot. This pistol really shines with European spec ammo such as S&B or Fiocchi.
Thankfully, only a small percentage of us will ever experience a shoot/don't shoot scenario and can just enjoy the weapon a the range.... but if you do it's enough to give someone a very bad day.. a confidence builder for a lot of folks.. Legendary reliability and performance. One of my favorites..
indeed. too many people debating about the caliber size, yet, a 22lr is enough as a deterrent factor (unless them folks prepared for all the questioning after)
I have a 32 ACP Beretta that I purchased from classic firearms it's a surplus pistol it's a beautiful handgun but it has a 12 round magazine and it fires flawlessly
I remember a few years ago Classic Firearms had a ton of these that were police surplus from Europe for $250 each. I kept telling myself to get one but never did. Now they are hard to find and expensive. I did pick up a Zastava M70 .32 acp that was Yugoslavian police surplus.
I have a sweet spot for the old 32acp. I own a few, and they are the absolute sweetest pistol caliber to shoot. I don’t have an 81, but I will definitely be adding 1 to the collection! Nice review 👍.
Oh YES! Way cool firearm. Years ago I had a browning BDA. I STILL HQVE THE BOX. HAD TO HOCK IT GOING TEMPORARY DUTY IN THE AIRFORCE. MAKING ENDS MEET. Missed that firearm years. Saw these model 81 Baretta’s and bought two. One looks brand new the other had a couple obvious scratches. I carried it for a while after shoots good a little heftier than my polymer EDC FIREARMS. YOUR EXAMPLE IS EXCELLENT! Hard to find ammo, but whenever I see it it’s bought.
The 80 series are outdated. They are rather large for what they deliver. However, as far as aesthetics and craftmanship there is not really anything comparable IMHO. I have a 81FS and 84FS, both BNIB. Friends who are collectors drool over them. Excellent find. You're very lucky as I think it's been several years since the last 81FS landed in the U.S..
It's only outdated when you can provide a better alternative. You get a pistol with 22 level recoil, and a full size grip, in a capable and reliable caliber. Perfect for older people with arthritis, or those who simply aren't that interested in becoming John Wick.
Watching this in Feb 2023 right after Shot Show 23' where Beretta announced the 80X Cheetah in .380. The safety/de-cocking operation of the new 80X is the same as this 81FS, but with the added benefit of the vertec grip and front slide serrations. Even though it's "only" a .380, the 80X is definitely on my wish list. Thanks for the 81FS review!
Considering that you usually rack the slide to chamber a round in a “comfortable” situation, it’s not that bad to have a small slide to work with, you can use the cuts in the front. If you have to reload in a hurry, the slide release is so ergonomic, it just begs to be used to drop that slide. Love the gun btw, if I could carry here in Italy this would be one of my top choices, especially in the winter when it’s easier to conceal.
What a find. Congratulations. That is precisely how I like to find pawn shop guns; (when I can) almost brand new. I can't tell you how many times I've taken guns out of various pawn shops that people bought and returned immediately, sometimes fired once I assume to see if they liked it and others, not at all. Thanks for the video. I always enjoy the demos of arms you take out of that place. Fantastic.
I need one of these! I used to own a CZ-27 (w/ Nazi markings) but didn't trust it for home defense. Just too old and worn. I still have the bullet mold and reloading dies for .32 acp and would love to see how lead works out of the 81FS..
It would eat it up. Get a surplus in a few months or when you see a good deal 81,or81bb. I have plain 81 w LOK s ..love it .you will too. Trust a stranger!
22lr, .25acp and .32acp is the only caliber guns that can be used for self defense in my country.. With this restriction its hard to stay safe, especially from a couple of machete wielding motorcycle thief or a homemade pipe flintlock gun aimed at you by a mugger :") Some of my friend even said: If you have this firearm and the mugger noticed its a Beretta..they know the wielder have a reliable gun, super rich with very high status that hiring a lawyer afterwards is like buying a candy bar Note: Revolver = Small tax V.S Handguns = Super Big Tax (you can buy a house here) Shotgun can only be owned by politician and rifle can only be used by police and military Modify any part of the original guns = Jail
On a whim, I took my 22lr bolt action and my Taurus TX22 to my folk's Independence Day celebration yesterday, and my two uncles, dad, and aunt were all thrilled I did. Ranging from Army vet to 100rds down a pipe experiences, we were hitting paper plates at 33 yards away with BOTH guns. Eventually the AR and 9mm came out, future plans to shoot were formed. Twas a good day.
I have Taurus PT 57 SC 2020 model in 32 ACP with 3 × 12 + 1 mags with a safety / decocker like Taurus PT 92. It has virtually zero recoil and you can carry it cocked and locked like a 1911 or you can carry it decocked in double action. Only 4 to 5 pieces ever came to Pakistan and I am a proudful owner of one of them.
I have seen what this gun is capable off in ballistic gel with Fiocchi 73gr FMJ. It makes decent wounds with bullet tumbling and penetrates about 21 inch. They did tests in Luckygunner with surplus beretta 81.
I had one for my wife and the slide issue was bad for her. I shot it for awhile but I wasn't liking Berettas like I do now. So I messed up and sold it. I wish I had it back just for collection
question for the group! what is a good price on this firearm?? Ive seen them all over ranging from 500 to 2000 looking to get one but don't really know enough on Beretta pistols to make an educated purchase. Any help?
People are a bit too obsessed with bigger “better” caliber. What really matters is 1. Shot placement, 2. Shot placement and 3. Shot placement. I would rather have 32 ACP that I can shoot well than 10mm I can’t shoot well. Just as curiosity, Beretta 81 was designed in the 70s for European law enforcement agencies.
Good video but I'm not attracted to the lack of recoil of the 32 ACP cartridge. I am interested in it for another significant reason, and that is its lack of penetration through things like drywall. When one lives in an urban apartment complex, that's a major concern. We like to be good neighbors!
How’s the recoil on that one? Also how hard is the trigger pull? Would you suggest this one for an older smaller statured woman who has problems with carpal tunnel and arthritis?
...my late wife had a Tomcat (.32 ACP) she had carpal tunnel problems and had no problems, but you should try one before you buy it...in many places you can rent the firearm you're considering...no sense in buying one on someone ELSE'S recommendation if you find it doesn't suit you...
Dear bro, I have a P. Beretta 81f. 32 csl 7.65 m.m. and I was very comfortable with the same. I kept the gun for quite few years in unloaded condition putting the trigger safety lovk knob in lock position and now I am unable to pull the safety lock knob down in unlock position. Would you please help and guide me to unlock the trigger lock safety knob. Thx.

I have a question if the 84 in .380 is the same size why does the 84 have a 13 round mag with a much larger round while the 81 only has a 12 round mag capacity with a smaller round?
Different magazine and follower design is the obvious answer, although it may have something to do with reliability since .32acp is a semi-rimmed cartridge.
.380 is a rimless case while .32acp is a semi rimmed case. That little bit of a rim takes up extra space in the magazine. You'll find most gun that are chambered in both calibers will hold 1 less in .32acp because of it.
@@chinabluewho only the .32acp has a 15 round magazine. The .380acp and 9x18 versions have a 12 round magazine. If you use the CZ82 magazine in a .380acp CZ83 you can fit 13 rounds.
