im born in 67, long haired rocker... 2 yrs ago treated for stage 4 glioblastoma brain cancer... given 10 mos to live... i always told mysef that if i didnt make it in music, id be a truck driver... now, guitar playing has become a hobby... and i ive vicariously through you... Riding Shotgun. Thank You!
This reminds me of a night on I90, westbound over the divide. I was driving an IH cabover 13 speed. That was in 78 and I guess I'm giving away my age now. Back when it was a chauffeur's license and a paper log. Last year over the road was in 93. Wife said come home or don't bother. Should have stayed on the road!
im pleasantly surprised to see you starting to add some videos again! i think its even better for winter viewing..i am up late and like to relax and watch the driving and listen to you chat about different things...be safe and well mike~
Mike, just wanted to say thank you for coming back with the ride along videos at the perfect time. I drive for UPS in upstate Vermont and we just recently got our first snow storm of the season. Without your video that you posted just a day prior, I probably wouldn't have had the courage to show up for work. That said, watching you approach and tackle those snow-covered roads with such confidence and skill was an inspiration to me, and I'm absolutely sure I'm not alone in saying that. Just wanted to let you know what kind of difference you're making. Keep it up and as always, drive safe.
I m not too anxious until you mention our speed. Enjoyed the ride. Fedx tandems are seen all along the trip. Thank you for the safe travels. Take care MMM. God bless you
I’m sitting comfortably in my apartment here in Palm Beach Gardens, FL., thought enjoying traveling with you in places I’ve never been and will probably never get the chance to see! Thanks for the fabulous videos!
Thanks for the night drive in the snow over the mountains. I always enjoyed driving at night with the trailer lights in the mirrors and the roads mostly to myself. Now I'm retired I enjoy the opportunity to ride shotgun with you. Have a Merry Christmas and a Great New Year Mike, you and your family. Peace!
Mike, thank you for the new video. Been watching all of your older videos up to 2019. FANTASTIC VIDEOS!!!! Calming and relaxing without commercials!!!!!! Keep coming with them great videos.

Hey u!!! Merry Christmas!!! Keep on keepin' on!!! So happy I'm retired....from a lady trucker in Canada... We'd be trailer truckin' up here....woohoo!!! Dashing thru the snow..woot woot😉
Wow 5k ain't much. Feel bad for ya but at least you know what you're doin. Thanks for lettin us ride shotgun with you through the Rockies at night. Safe travels 🤙
Thanks again for taking us along. We can learn so much about driving in the snow and icy roadways of the rockies in winter. The best way to learn is from a professional driver. Just watch and listen and learn. Best is: everything is slow motion. There are no quick fast starts or panic stops. None of this works on snow, packed snow or ice. There is traction but it is slippery and very easy to break traction. Even on snow or ice you still have some control but don't push it too hard.
I came out of that tunnel westbound one night and the wind blew me from the right lane into the left lane on that snow and ice. I enjoy your mountain driving but I don't go out there anymore with my current employer. Worked for that Denver company for 15 years. I don't miss all that.
I never got around to driving big rigs but did drive intercity and school busses in the 70s. I wish UA-cam would have been a thing back then for the learning it now provides. THANKS!
Hi Mountain Man Mike. Ready for a ride in the snow. Makes me homesick for Colorado!! I am stuck in San Antonio for a bit. Drive safe! Peace out! ✌️☮️⛰️🏔️
Love driviñg in rain and snow too. You are kind ti moreon drivers. So steady and powerful? I like the sound of a rig.!.❤ Tie long pce of surveyors tape to ends of your tools. Youll never loose a tool again. ❤
Mike. I'm having a panic attack going through this tunnel with you! The Caldu ot tunnel on Hwy 4 in Northern California is too much for me ! I'm 81 now and no longer drive. Was a bus driver. My granddaughter lives in Aspen. She's a chef. I'm just Grammy Charlie. Love your videos!
love riding shotgun, I'm 70 now and its a long time since I had my Class 1 so I'm a closet trucker, and looking forward to a 600 mile round trip tomorrow to go look at a boat. Its getting hard to drive at night here in UK 'cos they have a policy of shutting the motorways to do repairs at night, I think there will be five areas of closures tomorrow night on my rout. anyway we had a bit of snow here in UK last few days but its all melting tonight. Thanks for another great ride.
Love what you do, thanks for letting us travel along from our living rooms! Shout out from St George. Be safe out there, happy Holidays! PEACE✌️ SEE YA!
Always amazes me people don’t understand that those 2 tracks in the right lane are often polished/icy from the heavier traffic. Some snow on road and the right temp/good tires mean TRACTION
Nice night ride Mike, but I hate driving on the snow unless it's deep, the 4x4 seems to work better. That skiff and slip I hate. Be safe out there in the cold.
I admire all of your videos. Be careful through the crazy cold weather. Be safe in your travels. Merry Christmas Mountain-Mike. Love Riding Shotgun ! ✌️ ☮️
Have you ever slid on the ice, and got it on video? I’d love to see that and how you corrected and saved the truck from crashing. At least that’s what I imagine the outcome to be.
My biggest fear is passing an 18 wheeler even in warmer weather. I am afraid they won't see me! The older you get, the more terrifying it is to drive. You all will be there one day lol, some of us sooner than others!
Great vid again. Donovan U.K's Bob Dylan Colours, Catch the Wind, Little Tin Soldier, To Sing for you etc What memories. The sixties were Great from an old fart. LOL
Love your videos! I wish I could always be shotgun with you in the winter snow. The weird part of this video for me was the driving with hazards on, how do you keep track of when that is encouraged or prohibited? It's discouraged here in Idaho. Edit: Re the formula, you're just a road savant, a natural.
@@larrybe2900 For Hazards? Maybe in your state. But look up the law in New Mexico, for instance, a place where Mike is going to go. It's illegal there at all times when driving.
I'm curious Mike, what brand of drive tires are you running this time of year? Michelin? This new international LT i started driving come with Michelin drives and I'm really impressed with them. I speced the truck out with air lockers as well. They come in handy pulling out of fields, in wet conditions. I stay in Minnesota. Tho one time i made a trip to LA with a friend of mine 15 years ago. We came back via I70 and Denver. It was in March and made for an interesting experience. Fond memories you bring back.
It's really cool riding shotgun in the snow, (no offence intended) but l have the sound off as my wife is sleeping, in our studio apt, when l watch but l do have Christmas music going. Merry Christmas, from Western Oregon, and God Bless your family and you.
I have to admit Mike I never have been much of a night driver, as here in the UK the roads fill with Nerds driving jacked up cars and vans and me I like to drive to my limits, so if I see a clear stretch and some Boy Racer thinks he wants to take me on, then I let him and in two of my ex cars laugh when I leave him in my dust and his puny whatever it is he is driving , just cannot keep up.
Did you say you interlock you diffs and stage two 9th gear down ? Up to what mph is that lock accept by diffs..different... also when it's a whiteout condition is there any lights auxiliary that you recommend? Thanks and great videos

Man that sucks. I'm truly sorry about that. I was born in 67 as well. Stay strong.
Prays to you my friend 💪🏽
Praying for you now. Bring all your cares to Him because he cares for you more than you know. ✝️❤️✝️

I so admire your driving skills, you seem so confident and you always adjust your driving to the weather, not enough drivers can acquire that skill,
Another great ride along. Always enjoy your videos dry or snowy. Stay safe out there.

come on mike , your cell phone does all your thinking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Mountain Man Mike
85,000 plus is better if you have a big horse like I did for 30 years in the mountains!
Love from morocoo ❤
There are a lot of runaway truck ramps you have passed is it that bad they need that many
Is salt used on the roads in us to deal with ice?
It's cold in South
It's going to snow ❄️ in the next few days Monday and Wednesday up to four inches in Oklahoma
Sometimes driving at the speed limit is dangerouse
Do they not use salt there like in the northeast??
