It’s so lovely to see the ( now three) baby elephants at Melbourne zoo and to know they won’t have to worry about predators or any other dangers they might encounter in the wild and next year they’ll all be moved to the more spacious Werribee zoo.

Is that squeaky sound the baby elephant or another animal nearby?

The squeaks are from the adult females. The calf does a few snuffles but can't quite make trumpets and squeaks just yet

@@ZoosVictoria thanks, I thought it was the calf as well, sounds like little mouse squeaks. Can you please tell me what those squeaks mean in Elephant language. I noticed it when the other baby was being born by the other elephant watching the birthing. Thank you Louise.
