  • This is part 1 of making a hybrid mermaid tail (both fabric and silicone)! I'll take you through the steps I took to create the tail.
In this video you'll see me make a leg sleeve from performance fabric and a monofin from a pair of bi-fins, plastic shelf liner, and eva foam. Stay turned for part II to see the rest of the build!
Disclaimer: I am not a professional, this tail is a photography prop.

    -E6000 adhesive : amzn.to/3iP3qnJ

Thank you so much! The plastic gives the tail such realistic movement in the water!

Professional silicone mer-tails are definitely worth it, but it is rewarding to create your own too!

You could also sand the two surfaces that you need to glue and they should stick.

Thanks for your suggestion! I did try that off camera, but alas it still didn't want to adhere the rubber and plastic!

How many silicone tubes did your mermaid tail use?

How did the silicone hold up overtime? Did it eventually peel off?

is there any reason you didnt glue the shelf plastic on top of each other for a thicker tail? do you think it would be too stiff?
