+ivi122 - lol you must not have kids. I was watching my younger brother home alone when I was 8. I was mature and responsible and I had all the phone numbers to my parents, emergency services, and neighbors if something happened. Andrew is plenty old enough and he definitely seems mature for his age.
I have used AFS before and I loved the program so much!!! I traveled to France for a whole school year!!! An amazing experience and such professionalism!!!!
Can you guys/Elijah make a video about your camera gear / technology (as far as videos go)? I’m interested to see what gear you have and what gear you’ve accumulated!!
I agree AFS is an awesome program. My daughter went to Australia when she was in high school. She loved it, and a lot. My daughter also built a friendship that will last forever. Be safe Elijah, enjoy your trip. Vlog as much as you can, so those of us who have never been to Japan, can learn from you. I'm loving being a tag along!
I love that you guys are passionate about your religion, but also so passionate about exposing yourself and the kids to so many different cultures, ideologies and beliefs. It's so refreshing to hear about and watch!
You should link Elijahs vlog channel! Elination is awesome! Also I've never commented before, so I just wanted to say thanks to your family for brining us along. You guys are great!! Enjoy New York...my family once did a "pizza tour" where my aunt found 3 of the top pizza places in NY and we went and got a slice at each one. One of my favorite memories of the city. Oh and top of the rock!
I sure hope Daniel never does do the lighter thing! I worked in our local hospital a long time, and I can tell you there have been some very horrible burns come in from when the lighter hits, explodes and the fluid sprays up and hits clothing and ignites, burning the wearer badly. Not common, but it does happen. Very interesting seeing New York! I am really enjoying tagging along on your excursions!
You guys are awesome opening up your children to new experiences. I live in Queens if umyou guys are planning to go to church I would live to meet you at church. u am not mormon and never been to a Mormon service and would live to experience that. it's cool if you rather not. I will still watch and follow you guys.
I have been watching yall's channel since y'all started the get to know me series, and let me just tell you the amount of love and progress y'all have made as a family through traveling is unbelievable, as well as yall's blogging skills have gotten SO much better! Lots of love from Texas!!💜
Thanks for sharing New York, you guys are actually a few stops from where I used to live in Astoria, if you want to try really good food, there is a place called " Pollos Mario" on queens plaza you transfer for the train 7 going to queens and get off on 87 street, when you are on the greet, walk one block like going back to the city and you will see it, it's the most amazing food..... it's Colombian food!! My husband is from Ecuador and he totally missed their food!!! As I see this video I got so many memories back ... 13 years in New York can forget so easy!!! Thanks!!👌🏻
Look up the obelisks in NYC. There are three of them and a lot of history behind them. The most famous of the three is Cleopatra's Needle in Central Park right by the Met. It is from Ancient Egypt and is really amazing. The history behind the three is so cool, and they line up in a perfect line even though they are all spaced really far apart and from a long time ago!
I worked right next to trinity Church in Manhattan for nearly a decade. We now have 5 kids and moved back to CA where we were from originally. Really awesome getting to see old stomping grounds again on one of my favorite channels. You make me believe I can take the whole family back there one day. :)
My family used AFS four years ago and had an exchange student from the Netherlands who lived with us for a whole school year and attended American high school. She became an extension of our family and my sister and I just came back from a trip to the Netherlands to visit her for two weeks. They are an amazing company and so easy to work with and coordinate things with
I'm surprised Andrew didn't want to check out Wall Street - that seems like something he would be really interested in because he's so smart and entrepreneur-ish.... ha :-)
If you guys ever get the chance to ride the 6 (Lexington Line) train downtown to bowling green, ride it to the very last stop. Stay on the train when it goes back uptown because when it turns back, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the old station that was once there.
I totally agree with your Google Maps plug! I live in Taiwan, and even the all the bus routes in one of the middle cities here are mapped in English, as well of course the subway and buses in big Taipei. It's incredible!
Thanks so much for showing your tour of the AFS office! I've been interested in their programs ever since I found about them 3 years ago! I was going to go on one of their summer programs this year but it didn't happen due to conflicts with a family trip. I realized Elijah's reasons for liking AFS are the same reasons I am so intrigued in it. Thanks for this- I can't wait to see what adventures he has in Japan! I'll make sure to make my trip possible next summer!
I don't know when you were in that area, but we were staying down in that area Thursday June 29, and went to Statue of Liberty today. We are now in Time square are. Planning to go to Central Park Sunday. Hope we run into you all before we leave to go home Monday.
If you don't mind a suggestion: if a kid gets stuck on the train. Tell them to get off the next stop and then DONT move - the parent can get the next train and meet them - you don't know what each train station is like - suggesting that they find the opposite direction train might require them going down passages etc and they can just get lost/confused..certainly that can happen on the London Tube
Malcolm Wilkins I was going to say the same thing! Some stations are very complicated and have two totally separate entrances on different streets! I've never been to New York but I have been to London and Paris!
No he told them to get on the next train back to the original station and they would wait for them there - that's why I made the point above...regardless there should be station staff so it shouldn't be that stressful if it goes wrong
Agreed! Some stations (not all) in city only have exits and for you to go back to your original station (whether uptown or downtown) you may have go upstairs, cross the street and take the opposite route but you have to pay another toll.
Malcolm Wilkins that's great advice. I live in New York although I don't take the subway anymore because I drive but if you're from out of town and you miss your stop you could get confused and lost trying to cross over to the opposite side. also some of the train stations in the city you have to go out and go to the other side of the street pay again in order to get on the opposite side.
I am from Germany and 2 years ago I was an exchange student in the US staying in a host family and it was an incredible experience. I wish I could do an exchange year in other countries too because it's such a difference to experience a culture a year long and not only as a tourist for a few weeks! love to follow you guys along, especially about what you gonna think about Europe!
You should try to go to Shakespeare in the park if you get the chance. I've only stood in line once, but it was so much better than Broadway and free. You just need to have a breakfast picnic in central park to get tickets.
I have a friend, that just hosted a German girl. And the year before they hosted , just can't remember where she was from. It's been really cool to see the different adventures they go on, the experience they get.
How cool! AFS is awesome! I went to Costa Rica 🇨🇷 in the 80's. We also have hosted students from all over the world. I think he will have a fabulous experience.
I used to work in the Portland, OR AFS office and went abroad with them twice in high school (summer to Bolivia, Year program to Egypt). Fun to see the NY office in your video! He's going to have an epic adventure that will stay with him for a lifetime.
im just loving travelling the world with you during these interesting "stay at home" times:) im looking forward to getting my Knorpp and South sweatshirt soon. I shall wear it as a reminder to stay true to myself and stay curious:) your family and your vlogs have been a blessing in my life. Much love to you all. Hope you are all keeping well.
You guys were by my job @ Wall street!!! Omg. I fancy running into you guys while you are in NYC :) Summer in NYC is amazing. So many events going on in and around the city
If you go to London city mapper app will give you a live feed on the underground and will also walk you to a station if a line is closed it's my saving grace when going to work in the city I'd be as lost as you without it. Love your videos
You guys should go to Governors Island, right next to the statue of liberty, you can rent bikes and ride the island... and highly recommend going to eat to Stardust. Great food, the waiters sing and dance, and its an awesome experience.
Larimar Henriquez I second Governor's Island. There's something for everyone and the kids can run free! If you leave from South Ferry, it would only cost the family $4 round trip. The Hills are open and the sprinklers are on now too!
Larimar Henriquez Stardust is awesome! Although, they might want to get a reservation with so many people - we waited for an hour with a party of five.
Lol... the train thing happened to a friend of mine, it was hilarious! The plan Mike suggested after would've have been useful for us! It was a long afternoon that day! Lol
Megan, another bit of history is that at the time of Alexander Hamilton's duel and even that of his son a year earlier, dueling was illegal in New York. Both Hamilton's went across the river to a spot in NJ to duel, where it was legal. The spot where Hamilton was fatally wounded is still there. Oh and if you want a neat website to investigate sites in NYC, try www.atlasobscura.com . It's great for everywhere in the world, actually
When I was 11 or 12 we were catching the train to London and the doors shut behind my Mum leaving me on the station, Dad pulled so hard on the emergency pull cord he ripped it off the wall and they had to reverse to come back for me. This is before the beeps prior to the doors shutting.
Hi Knorrp and south!!!! Love your channel and your family. You guys are amazing and inspiring. Keep it up! Hope you guys can visit here in New Zealand someday! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Google maps is amazing and is a complete life safer especially where public transport is involved. Just be aware you can't use a North American phone in the UK or Europe and vice versa. We've just been to Canada and couldn't use our phone over there. Something to do with the wavelength use/frequency, I don't know but it doesn't work. Love your channel Knorpps! xx
ivi122, right, just as you more than likely don't know them personally either. Why even have commented in the first place, even if it's you stating the truth as you see it? It was completely unnecessary and rude for you to bring negativity to her compliment.
Megan white, I agree! I was admiring her and Mike's calm while adventuring into the city with five kids. I'd be stressed out just by myself, but I'm sure I'd be a nervous wreck with even one kid!
When I was in high school north of New York City up in Mahopac , New York my Class of 1970 we had two foreign exchange students . Both guys one was from Iceland and the other was from Norway. I hope Elijah has a wonderful experience in Japan.
While your staying in New York City Go To: Empire State Building , Statue of Liberty, Museum of Natural History, Museum of Art , World Trade Center and take elevators to the top to the observation deck, Radio City Music Hall , If you want to go to any Broadway Plays you can get discounted show tickets from the Half Price House I believe there are several locations for them. North of the city aways is West Point Military Academy on the banks of the Hudson River up in the Beautiful Hudson Valley. Also north of the city is beautiful Lake George and Lake Champlain. You go up the New York Thruway to get there. Enjoy my former home state where I was born in Yonkers north of New York City and grew up in Mahopac less then 100 miles north of the city.Have fun & enjoyb !
You guys, seriously! I just love watching you. NYC is one of my dream trips. I wish I could see it with you! I can't wait to see what you find interesting in Europe. I want to show you around Venice when you get to Italy! Be sure to give me a heads up when you head that way. ;-) Oh, and Mean, I'm loving your hair! You just look so pretty.
I found your videos a week ago. I love them and your family and way of life is just wonderful. I have a question please tell me how you and your husband maintain the high energy for your daily life. Please give me a reply if you can. I so need some energy tips ???? Does anyone have a energy tip? Thanks to all
About Google maps, it may be really useful in the US but I warn you not to rely on it too much when you're in Europe. It's not very accurate, especially with trains and buses. Once, we arrived in Vienna, Austria and we had to walk 15 minutes to get to our hotel when there was a different station a few steps away. Same with buses. It would be better to ask locals or residents there for the fastest route. Google maps for cars is pretty reliable at least.
I live in NZ and have friends who ave been involved in AFS over the years. Their children travelled and spent time living in other countries. Amazing experience!
Elijah is so grown up for his age.If all young people act this way the world would be such a better place...You guys are doing great with your kids..
I can't believe Andrew is already old enough to watch the little ones lol. He's getting so mature you both must be so proud of him
Corinne Sauer how old is he?
+ivi122 - lol you must not have kids. I was watching my younger brother home alone when I was 8. I was mature and responsible and I had all the phone numbers to my parents, emergency services, and neighbors if something happened. Andrew is plenty old enough and he definitely seems mature for his age.
Corinne Sauer In NZ kids are not allowed to be home alone until 14. You can be charged with child neglect if anything goes wrong.
aww! pearl breaking into a smile inside the train was so cute!
We love your channel and your family!!!! You are doing such a great job at raising 9 children!!!🙏🏻 Thank you for sharing your journey!😘
Haha! Pearl and Elijah already look like jaded New Yorkers on the train 😂 Move along, performer. Move along...
I have used AFS before and I loved the program so much!!! I traveled to France for a whole school year!!! An amazing experience and such professionalism!!!!
The program cost me $15,000 for the year but on top of that I brought around $4000 to spend while I was there!
Can you guys/Elijah make a video about your camera gear / technology (as far as videos go)? I’m interested to see what gear you have and what gear you’ve accumulated!!

Toby Mardles I hope they do too but the owners may have said no- I think they ask first

Very cool about diversity of thought and shared cultures = peace. We need so many more people like the Knorps!!!!
please forgive my spelling of yr name!
I'm surprised Andrew didn't want to check out Wall Street - that seems like something he would be really interested in because he's so smart and entrepreneur-ish.... ha :-)
"Diversity of thought"....that's SUCH a wonderful way to put it! I love the way your family views the world, keep up the amazing work you guys! =)

Megan, I reckon you could make more of those thingemyjigs that you wear on your shoulders by putting a stitch in a large scarf! I'm going to try!
Who else sings along to the intro every single time?
Izzy Elias ✋🏼
Izzy Elias not me
I do. Its catchy. Love it...

Thanks to you guys, I've been able to see, hear and learn about so many things that I wouldn't have otherwise 💖
What an awesome program!!! Thats a wonderful opportunity for him!
Thank you for bringing us along on your journey, I am enjoying NYC. I could never do NYC, I would have a severe panic attack...do not do crowds.

Great firework viewing from your area of queens tonight --- go to Gantry Park or LIC Food and Flee.
Love to see kids! They are all adorable!
You and Mike should go to a broadway show for date night! Or you might get lucky and find some cheap tickets to take a few kids!!
You guys should go to Governors Island, right next to the statue of liberty, you can rent bikes and ride the island... and highly recommend going to eat to Stardust. Great food, the waiters sing and dance, and its an awesome experience.

The first couple minutes, Megan actually looks like she has a set of weird eyes from her sunglasses reflection 😂😂
Megan, your sunglasses are so gorgeous on you! And your style in general is just perfect! Love from Pa ❤️
Lol... the train thing happened to a friend of mine, it was hilarious! The plan Mike suggested after would've have been useful for us! It was a long afternoon that day! Lol

nice... finally im the first few to comment. greeting from Singapore 😁
Love your channel Knorpps! xx
y'all should print the picture of the back of the old van onto a blanket so that it can travel around Europe with you!
is amazing how young you guys look after a year of traveling I was just figuring that after watching the footage from the RV
Megan, I love your name and style! 😉 I aspire to be as patient of a mother everyday as you are! And I only have one lol
ivi122 if you have nothing nice to say be quiet. No need for picky negative comments.
ivi122, right, just as you more than likely don't know them personally either.
If your staying London for a long time I would recommend that you would get a Oyster card for the tube (the underground)
'Everything always come back to Harry Potter.' Story of my life. My friends are sick of me bringing things back to Harry Potter.
Haha same!!
When you wear that shirt again, use small safety pins and pin it to your under shirt at the shoulders. :-) They can be a pain!
This is family goals😍😍
Hope you guys are having a blast! I'm 3 hours away from you guys in Albany NY! 💜

When I was in high school north of New York City up in Mahopac , New York my Class of 1970 we had two foreign exchange students . Both guys one was from Iceland and the other was from Norway. I hope Elijah has a wonderful experience in Japan.
Mike I think the Federal Building in NYC I believe it is located @ 26 Federal Plaza .
Also go to beautiful St Patrick's Cathedral Home of The Archdiocese of New York for The Catholic Church.
I was wondering are the New York City subway stations and trains still dirty and smelly? I haven't been there for decades.
Don't forget the MOMA while your there it a amazing. I saw stary night while I was there last time
You guys, seriously! I just love watching you. NYC is one of my dream trips. I wish I could see it with you! I can't wait to see what you find interesting in Europe. I found your videos a week ago. I love them and your family and way of life is just wonderful. I have a question please tell me how you and your husband maintain the high energy for your daily life. Please give me a reply if you can. I so need some energy tips ???? Does anyone have a energy tip? Thanks to all

"Take kids to where?" Haha so honest. Fair question Daniel.
Hey, I grew up in Astoria!

Everyday upload 😁😁😁❤️❤️
will you be doing some sort of meet and greet when you are in France?
love you guys 😘💜
How does Elijah learn Japanese? My daughter has a tutor but I'm interested in an online tutoring scheme. Is there one please?
About Google maps, it may be really useful in the US but I warn you not to rely on it too much when you're in Europe. It's not very accurate, especially with trains and buses.
