Hi Nikki, I am a retired middle school teacher and I live on the east coast of Canada. When I retired I felt a little lost with so much time on my hands but since then I have been enjoying sewing and quilting so much ! I have learned so much from your videos ! Mostly about sewing tips and tricks but more importantly about giving myself grace and just having fun! No more "grading" my work. Even though my houses aren't wonky enough and my machine quilting lines sometimes cross when they aren't supposed to I think I'm proud of what I have accomplished. Thanks to you, my favorite youtube teacher.
I always find you very inspirering . You are so wise for your years. I am 64, retired nurse, with 3 adult children. You seem like a wonderful, mom and person. Congratulations on your UA-cam succes.
I don't subscribe to many people or channels because it is hard to limit my watching time. I like your videos, your creativity and your encouragement. I like that you're funny and down to earth. Congrats on this big milestone! Have a great summer 😊
Congratulations on 100K! You're my favorite sewing youtuber!!
You can use a black light to tell the correct side of white on white print. I got one from Amazon. It is a small hand held flashlight style.
Brilliant!
Yes, that is what I did also, small one right next to the sewing machine when needed, it has saved me from ripping out my blocks!!
Thank you so much for this info.
One of my mantras is, “the difference between hope and despair is a good night’s sleep”. It has saved my sanity more times than I can count. Congrats on this cool milestone. 😊
Yes 🙌🏻
Oh! My! Goodness! I am so very proud of you and for you!
I’ve been watching your channel now for almost a year and I truly feel like you are now, to me, a good friend. You have a gift and you are using it as God intended…helping and serving others. I am 60 years old and have just begun to sew. I love your channel! I bought my first sewing machine. She is a 1946 Singer. Her name is Ginny and I love her. She is sweet, easy going and steady. Keep cranking out the videos. I’ll keep watching!
Congratulations on the 100k....and you've reached 101k as well ! I'm so happy for you, that you've reached this milestone, much deserved for sure! Your family must be so proud of you. God bless you! xoxo :)
YOU are the BEST Nikki!!! Congratulations, we all love being in the world with you! God Bless!
CONGRATS on 100K Nikki🎉🎉🎉🎉 You are so deserving💕
Love your channel and the fact you always include The Lord and respect for your family. Thanks again to your husband for his 23 yrs of service and to you and your family for serving along side him💕🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🏻
I'm only a minute and 4 seconds into this video and I'm tearing up. I'm a mess! I love this channel and am so happy for you!
Awww thank you! When Layla showed me the montage she made at the very end, I cried too 🤣
@@PinCutSew I just got to the end! LAYLAAAAAA you made us allll cry! Keep up the great work Mrs. Nikki! Can't wait to join along and see what's next :)
Congratulations on making 100,000 viewers!! That is so absolutely awesome!! I wanted to say that I feel like you being so honest with your viewers about everything especially your faith and how you rely on it so completely. You are very inspiring with your ideas, your thoughts, and you're open heart. I appreciate this video very much because it makes me feel like I am not alone. Your advice on how to not go to sleep with anger in your heart, is such a huge piece of advice! The way you handle your negative emotions and how you release them is such an awesome way to deal with these issues. I think you're being willing to be so open and honest about that is also inspiring. You are just an inspiring person and a breath of fresh air. Thank you for all you have done to reach your 100,000 subscribers! And thank you to Layla for her awesome editing skills. Have a very blessed day!!
Congratulations on your well deserved milestone. You are a great teacher, humble, confident, and have a gentle attitude, which I find a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to more of your videos. God bless.
I’m thrilled for you and your channel! Woo hoo! Your channel is definitely in my top 3 favorites! 💕 I wish you continued success ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you! 😊
Hi Nikki! Congratulations on hitting this milestone! I discovered your channel a few months ago and I can't tell you how much you've helped me wrap my brain around quilting and getting over perfectionism. My grandmother was a master quilter - one of her quilts won the Louisiana State Fair about 30 years ago. I can remember watching her quilt and thinking that I could NEVER do something like that. But, doing large stitch quilting is something that I'm rather enjoying and watching you make up that house/neighborhood quilt was AMAZING! Free style quilting is definitely in my wheelhouse and you make it seem fun and completely doable! Thank you!
100K!!!🥳You’ve worked hard & it shows. So very happy for you! Well done, Nikki!
I really hope you keep your videos coming! 😊
You are delightful and I'm so excited to hear you're a woman of faith. You are a blessing.
I was born in Louisville. I love Kentucky. I come back every year to see my relatives. If it wasn’t for my grandkids, I would move back.
Congratulations on 100K. I'm watching this while hand quilting a quilt I started over 20 years ago. I watched your video on hand quilting and it finally gave me permission to do an imperfect job, so this thing might finally get finished!
Mom here, haha. As for helping to distinguish the right side of subtle prints, small sticky dots sold in the office supply stuff work great! You can also right on them, so they are useful for lots of sewing projects.
Two years ago I made a list of my UFO's. There were 26. There are now 14. I try to not allow myself to start a new project unless I have finished two from that list. Any new project (NOT including charity work) goes on the list. The goal is to get it down to a rolling five or six projects - I will never be ONLY the current ONE project. This list includes ALL types of crafting (knitting, crochet, cross stitch, needlepoint, etc.). I also try to not buy new fabric unless it is to go with something I already have (I fail on this FREQUENTLY). I do have a ton of "kitted" projects but do not count them unless I have cut the fabric. I often will offer a fiend the opportunity to peruse my stash and choose a quilt for me to make. I also intersperse small projects that don't do on the list - like the two Hemmingway pouches I will be making for a granddaughter. I love variety and, as you say, I get better with practice.
I understand why you only knit and crochet in the winter. I’m working on a crochet afghan right now, and that big blanket in my lap makes me feel like I’m having one continuous hot flash the whole time I’m working on it. You’re clearly smarter and a better planner than me. 🤪
Congratulations on 100K subscribers. I hope it continues to grow.
As far as white on white tones, put it against a darker background and you can definitely see which side is the print.
Hi Nikki! Congratulations! So happy for you! I stumbled upon your bib tutorial while you were in Hawaii & again found your QAYG Bibs while I embroidered burp diapers - loved your info on making a business out of sewing & your honesty. Am currently binging through your tutorials. FYI: try the magic pins - they are thin, bite thru fabric easily & thin enough that you can sew while they are in place plus you can iron on them. And a quilters select ruler is life changing- doesn’t move!
Look forward to more content. Congrats on your daughter’s graduation as well!👍🏼
Hi Nikki, first of all CONGRATULATIONS on 100K!!! 🙂 I just discovered you fairly recently, a couple months ago I think. Your house quilt block popped up and as soon as I saw that video I liked and subscribed to your channel. Your view on making quilts is refreshing, upbeat and a lot of fun. Making a house quilt has been on my list for many, many years and you inspired me to put it on my "make it now" list. I don't get a whole lot of quilting time but have made about 10 blocks and will be needing 42, so it will be a slow go but a very enjoyable one. My only issue is that it is harder than I thought to make the houses wonky. Improv is easy, wonky is a challenge for me. I've been making quilts for over 40 years and have learned a lot from you. Thanks for your suggestion on the rotary blades, it saves money. Here's to your next 100K. 🙂
As a God fearing woman I too am able to relax into Christ because I know he has my best at heart. As I age I have calmed down. When I was younger I wanted to fight it out or yell and be emotional but as I get older my emotions have leveled out. There is a huge difference between adult hormones and child hormones. Truth❤❤
Love your philosophy on life. Realize that you are not in control. Let go and let God.❤
Congratulations! I enjoy your channel very much. I have found it's cheaper to buy big curtains but I still make smaller ones including from sheets so some of the work is already done. Your photography is wonderful - you are so talented in so many ways; what a blessing. Your supportive family is beautiful. Our niece is studying ballet in college in Pittsburgh and I'm encouraged by your daughter's experience. I also enjoy reading theology, mystery and history books and also have "old" solid wood furniture (Pennsylvania House) which I am happy about. We know ppl who have retired to Louisville and love it for the reasons you name. Surrender to trusting God can sometimes be hard - we live our lives looking forward, but we understand them looking backward, and some day we will see face to face...
Congratulations on 100K!!! Sew exciting!!! I love watching your videos, please keep them coming! Here’s a tip I heard recently…use a blacklight flashlight for determining which is the right side of white on white fabric…I tried it and it does work!! Thanks again for creating such a welcoming, inspiring and informative channel! ❤
Congratulations on reaching 100,000! I love your channel! Many blessings for the future.
Tip for finding the right side of a fabric ... a black light flashlight! Saw this tip from another UA-cam quilter (can't remember who).
I have a small notebook where i list all my projects and what i may need to finish it (so i can justify buying something to finish it). Every Jan 1st, i go thru and cross off what i finished, so liberating. And add in the new stuff...
And i only work on one thing, from start to finish. Less stressful, can always find my supplies for it.
I can make draperies lined with blackout, waaaay cheaper than buying!?
And i buy batting by the roll at Cmas time, 20yds for $60 = $7/per quilt.
You have a point with the blackout! I don’t use the blackouts, so wasn’t thinking about it, you’re right 👍🏻.
Yay Nikki!!! Big congratulations on your 100K subscriber count! “You’ve come a long way, baby” as they say but I’m so glad you stuck with it and have shared so much knowledge and inspiration with all of us. In this video I found out we also have photography in common. I did run my own photography business for many years, but quit when Covid struck and haven’t gone back. Watching you is like watching an old friend (no, literally you look just like one of my best friends from childhood 😂) so I’m always excited when you release a new video. Many best wishes to you as you continue on this journey!!! ❤🎉❤🎉❤
I haven’t read all the comments so it may already have been mentioned, but when working with white on white patterned fabrics use a small black light (found on Amazon). The side with the pattern really shows up with the black light. I just started using this and I LOVE it.
Congratulations!
Awesome video!
Thank you for sharing.
It's called Feathered star and it's got. Well done on thr 100k . My friend and I love your channel, keep up the good work,
It's gorgeous lol.
Thanks for that!
Congrats on your amazing UA-cam milestone!!! 🍾🥳🎉 Have loved watching your channel for the past 4 years when I was getting into quilting. Got back into sewing by making quilts, some improve, for a children's charity. Now, I'm more into garment sewing, but have remained subscribed to your channel. Bought your pattern for dolls, which is on my bucket list of future makes. Would also like my hand at making a wonky house quilt also. 🥰 Planning on eventually starting a YT channel for general sewing projects, but when that starts is TBD. In the process of preparing a big retirement move cross-country and sewing has been put aside until afterward. Was very helpful to know about the size of your sewing space, how you store your fabric, hearing about your filming equipment, and such. Anyway, thank you for all your very fun and informative videos! Have really enjoyed all of them. ❤
Fat quarter shop has a free pattern for the heart of America and it is a large star.
Congratulations, Nikki! I’ve been watching for a few years, and really enjoy your channel. Your success is no surprise, it is well deserved!
Thank YOU, Thank YOU, THANK YOU !!! I always enjoy your channel as do 101,000, and counting, others! 🥰🤗♥️
Congratulations!!! So well Deserved!!! You are incredibly talented and creative! You have taught me so much and brought so much inspiration to me and everyone! Proud to be a part of the amazing community you have built!!! 😊
Thank you so much!!
If you hold the white on white fabric up close to a lamp, it is much easier to tell the right side from the wrong side.
CONGRATULATIONS! Thank you for this fabulous video! Here's to the next 100,000! Cheers💞
Congratulations on the 100,000 mark! You are such a pleasure to watch/ listen to! Love your style! 🌸
Think the EPP question is about basting the fabric on the hexie. I’ve used glue, sew basting through the template and tack stitching the fabric only. I settled on tack stitching around the fabric only. I’d suggest making 3 flower hexies trying each method. You will find the method you prefer once you experience shaping the fabric, stitching the hexies together and removing the paper template.
Ohhhh that makes more sense 😅 Yeah, I glued them.
I use patterns, especially UA-cam videos, as inspiration, help with color selection, combinations, accents etc. I have a number of patterns from my early years that are sometimes invaluable. Surprisingly old construction techniques are helpful in catching on to the newer methods. Don’t Pooh-Pooh patterns because you can learn a lot from them and still make something new and modern.
A small black light flash light works well to find the right side of a piece of fabric.
Maybe someone already said it idk but the way I tell the right side of light fabrics with a pattern on it is using a black light to see the pattern side clearly. Works amazingly !!! I love your channel friend !! Thanks for all the good info & tutorials
I bought your book “Teaching Kids Sewing Classes”. This is a great resource. Thank you very much! I have not actually done any classes bc I sew for an interior designer and she keeps me very busy.
The best way to tell the right side of white on white is a black light flashlight.
Hi Nikki, hello from the UK. I only found you recently but I am so happy to help you reach your 100,000 subscribers total. Congratulations and good luck for the future 😊
Congratulations Nikki! Wow, so very cool! Here's to many more years of fun and informative tutorials and chats.
Congratulations! That is so exciting! I'm so glad I found your channel, I feel we're kindred spirits, I don't buy patterns , I love improv and art quilts so there is a lot of fun applique and embroidery. I love the freedom your channel brings to be imperfect and just have fun.
For several years I made things and donated them to a charity and it made me feel good to give something to someone else. But sadly over the years the places I donated to have dried up so I was wondering if there was a place that accepted handmade things for military families. I sew, crochet and knit a little bit and have quite the stash of fabric and yarn and I'd really like to make something out of all the items I have but need someplace to donate. Help! Oh! I made the mason jar cozie, the can cozie and the coffee sleeve from your patterns and they all have turned out really nice. I made them out of cat fabric and they are so cute. I'm going to give them to my daughter for her birthday and I figured these are things she could use. I so appreciate your channel. Keep up the good work. And I loved this question and answer video. Hope to see more of them.
If you live near a military post/base, they usually have an Airman’s attic or other thrift store that accept donations, so you could try that.
Ahhhh. I am from Kentucky too. Close to the Louisville area. :-). Congrats on 100K.
Hi Nikki! I love watching sewing and quilting videos for fun and to get inspiration. I just discovered you on YT today and I am loving your videos. I have gone down a rabbit hole and watched a bunch of your videos today and will likely watch some more. You are so fun to watch and you give such good and helpful info. I really like your presentation style. So glad I stumbled upon your videos and I look forward to watching more.
Welcome!! 🤗
Thank you for all you share with us. I could watch so much more. You encourage us with every video. Congratulations on 100,000 🎉
Congratulations! Found your "shows" a few months ago . You are my favorite ! I love your teaching and just try it and learn as you go.... even if you make mistakes attitude . 😊
Hi Nikki, 🎉congrats on the 100K!!!!!
You are awesome and make quilting fun. I really enjoy this video…well, I enjoy ALL your videos. Thanks for sharing all you ins and outs on quilting. ❤🌷
Hi Nikki, OPA! Congratulations on your 100K. You are an amazing seamstress, and a good act follow. I am so happy for you ❤
Right side: in addition to using a black light, put the fabric on something dark (even if you're wearing jeans) and the tone on tone designs will show up better on one side that the other
Great tip 👍🏻
Congrats! I’m so happy for you and you deserve all of the kudos you get and more! I’m in awe of your dedication and commitment. I would say I wish I could be like you when I grow up but since I’m 73 that’s probably out of the question lol 😂.
What a great video! It was fun getting to know you better, and that closing "history" segment was so great!
Congratulations 🎉 that’s the distant goal for most of us UA-camrs and you’ve finally achieved it! I’m waaay behind you. I learned in this video that we live very close to each other. I’m in Jeff, IN. I’ll give you a shoutout on my chat video for 5-27-24
Yeah, we’re practically neighbors! Keep going with UA-cam, it took me a long time, but it was fun and I’m so glad I kept going 💕
I think sew-ers are nice to other sew-ers because we know how many, many mistakes we've made, at least in the sewing part of our lives. :)
I can’t wait for retirement so I can quilt and sew 🧵 all the time!
Congratulations huge milestone, I am aiming for 1K on my channel can’t imagine 100K. Love love your channel & your honesty ❤
I remember celebrating 1K too, it was just as great of a feeling! Keep going 💕
Thank you for sharing the family celebration with us. Congratulations! How great is it that 100K of us appreciate your time, talents and creativity. Your commitment to the sewing community means the world. Keep shining your beautiful light ❤
I love all your videos and your sewing style - I always learn or am inspired. Congratulations on 100K!!!! Oh, and I appreciate you talking about your faith 😇.
Thank you so much 🤗
Congrats on this amazing milestone and for the Q & A! Always learn something when watching your channel. Enjoy this moment 😊❤
Thank you! This video was absolutely delightful, as all your videos are. :)
Love this video! I have trouble with white on white, too. Most of them are more textured on the printed side and you can fell the pretty side.
OPA!! 100K!!
Congrats on 100k!!!!
And congratulations for the 100k
Congratulations!!!!
Congratulations! So happy for you. Enjoyed this video and loved how you spoke about your faith!
Thanks! Well done Q&A!!
Congratulations!!!🎉
🎉 Congratulations! ❤
Congratulations 🍾🎈🎉🎊 👏
YEEHAW!! 100,000 is a great achievement. If we're all in one place, we would have a small city of quilters❤🎉❤. Your channel is so much fun; you have taught me to embrace my WONKY-NESS. I taught geometry and sometimes get a bit crazy if things are not symmetrical. The wonky strip wall hanging is very interesting.
🎶💐💖🫂
Congratulations to you!!
Congratulations!!
The white fabric can be identified with a small black light. This works well when it’s a white on white fabric If the light shows no pattern it’s the back. I got mine on Amazon. It was not very expensive at all. TFS love the q and a. Congrats on 100k.
Thank you for your service ! I love your videos very helpful .
Congratulations 🍾 👍🏻👍🏻🤗❤️🪡🧵😊
Congratulations!
Congrats on 100k AMAZING
Congratulations ❤🎉

So sorry. I just noticed your link to the ebook. I don't know how I missed it when I looked specifically for it -- old eyes or tired brain! Thank you!
