Calls a talented 26 yr old concert pianist "old". Interrupts him while he is playing, and continues to ask dumb questions. This woman annoys me. Terrible interview. Some people don't understand nor appreciate the countless hours of hard work and effort behind a great musician.
That lot hit an absolute bottom, in my view. Almost disrespectful. To Lang Lang as well as to the music he performs. It is a shame but these our today's standards. Lang Lang, I have to say, great great pianist but also someone who has gone to great lengths to make classical music more accessible to the current masses mostly addicted to crap.
Amir Motahari surely he is,it’s not just a question of taste. Technically he isn’t second at noone, you can take as example “La campanella” and see how incredible he is. Brendel was a giant, nothing to say about that,I actually like his Beethoven interpretations or Liszt one also, but in my opinion Lang Lang made another step next to them. And,I say this so that you can understand my point of view,I think he is better also then Valentina Lisitsa, who is a great and so talented pianist of our age.
@@Ego_S.B. Technique has to serve the pupose f the music. plus techinque to you might be playing loud and fast but to me is the ability to sing and produce colour. you can not even compare Langlang or lisita, to people like Schiff Brendel Sokolov gould Richter, Bolet. they are all second league to these people. Schiff and Brendel are have recordings that are considered as reference when it comes to Schubert, Mozart and Hayden!
Lang Lang is correct on saying that you must have passion and love in order to thrive in learning to play the piano. I am a professional musician and pianist, and I have to say that this is true if you really want to get serious in to music, especially for conducting. To become a successful musician, passion and love is number one. This is required for orchestral conducting as this will help when articulating the music. Without passion and love, the conducting career with just get narrower and narrower, and you will less likely become one of the world's famous conductors.
When you interview a musician of this caliber, a reporter must be informed first of the musician's background and how classical music works on interviews. The reporter is kinda rushing.
Totally agree!! And not only that! She doesn’t have a clue about classical music When for instance he said that at two years old he was able to reproduce Tom and Jerry’s soundtrack on the piano she should have asked him What do you mean you were actually able to play back music by ear? Did you have perfect pitch? If he won a competition at five he was obviously a freaking genius
It was a poor interview. She only asked about age, and she called him _old_ at 26🙄. Which is ridiculous. Musicians get better with age, especially piano since it's a small muscles instrument and not something you have to carry. Look at Argerich tearing it up in her seventies.
stupid question, play better than he was 5 years old, it's like asking u to solve a maths question whcih u did in 20 years ago. And how rude was that to interrupt langlang in the middle of his playing, i wanna tell these two to go away
The presenter is OBSESSED with his age. 🙄 Old at 26? What would she say about Martha Argerich playing beautifully in her seventies. Rubinstein who was active in his nineties.
I don’t think you can label a pianist as the ‘greatest pianist’ as it’s more than just pressing the right notes and there’s emotion behind every piece and every pianist has their unique sound and it’s also their interpretation of what the composer was feeling when writing it and then it’s up to the audience to decide as individuals to know if they liked it or not and Lang Lang is definitely my favourite pianist, you can see how much hard work was put behind every piece he plays and to me that’s really inspiring.
Hey Matt, good post. You're correct in your analysis of the term 'greatest pianist' ...... listen to Glen Gould play JS Bach, and then listen to Valentina Lisitsa et al......they are so similar, but all play with a little different emotion! Piano is the greatest instrument of all time, where practice never gets old!!
Well being the greatest or the best are two complete different adjectives. In my view your definition of greatest is more likely related to the best. It is not so easy to decide the best, in almost every topic or subject nevertheless I can easily say Lang Lang is the greatest pianist. Probably the only pianist who can play in an sports stadium and have the place sold out. He brought a lot of fans, specially younger ones to find classical music interesting . As a result of all that he actually can be considered the greatest pianist.
I hope Lang Lang got paid a lot for this patronising interview. She will never understand the talent or dedication never mind the rude approach in telling him to stop playing 🙈
Sorry but i can't bielieve he is able to play seriously Bach, sure. Polyphonic music of Bach is the ultime test for being an authentique pianiste musicien interprète (listen to Miss Rosalyn Tureck) If not, you don't understand really what is music. Truth is very difficult to hear !... 🤔
il est très fort, pour jouer une Polonaise de Chopin il faut un sacré niveau cependant en tant qu'auditeur, je le trouve parfois brouillon, notamment ici ; il fait trop d'effet de "dynamique", au détriment d'une rigueur rythmique ; il en rajoute souvent trop, comme sur les pièces " lente", où là il est carrément au ralenti, voir proche du décrochage ;
Well people too be fair, it probably wasn't de intention to let him play a complete music piece so she had to interrupt him at some point but it made me laugh my piano loving ass off the awkwardness of it all.
what did the interviewer mean when she said we ve been hearing from you all morning but from your hands? does it mean she has been listening to him playing piano all morning? what did she really mean? it's confusing to me.

Truth

Even her intonations annoy me, although I don't even speak English often 🙈🙈🙈😂
she's basically clueless about any of this
Totally agree with you, annoying to watch really
XDD
the host is seriously awkward and cringeworthy
Greatest pianist in the world interviewed by the worst interviewer in the world.
he is not the greatest!
Amir Motahari yes,he is
@@Ego_S.B. are you telling me he is greater than Brendel or Sokolov? do you even know who these people are?

How rude of them to interrupt him
lol, seemed like the interviewer's mind was somewhere else or was just focusing on her line of questions...she wasnt really connecting with Lang lang.
Lang Lang is humble and always polite.
The reporter didn't show so they just got the cleaning woman to do the job...
no....it was the cleaning womans arse wipe
We all should realize without Tom and Jerry lang lang wouldnt be a pianist
K
0:06 "good morning, sir...?"
LOL
lmfao
The mass media is as usual an embarrassment when it comes to exploring classical music or its interpreters.

6:01 langlang interacting with reporters while still playing in a softer tone...amazing

that guy in the background in shirt and jean honestly have no idea what privilege it is to be the guy in the background XD
Host:'so did you win?'
Lang lang :'fortunately I-'
Host:'of course, of course, you won'
Lmao she just asked a pointless question
stupid question, play better than he was 5 years old, it's like asking u to solve a maths question whcih u did in 20 years ago.
And how rude was that to interrupt langlang in the middle of his playing, i wanna tell these two to go away
-I won’t interrupt you this time
-6:00
Holy God, they kept interrupting him.😣😒
I honestly don’t know how anyone can ever beat Lang Lang in playing piano.
Thats because you are not a pianist, so indeed you can't know.
I feel like he didn't want to be there from the beginning of the video😂😔
0:06 Lang Lang said: "good morning *sir* " then after he realized what he said😂
The interviewer interrupted and talked to another person like the song Lang Lang played was basically background music. Good job Miss interviewer
Lang Lang 是中国人的骄傲,顶起大姆指,太棒了。
"Of course you won" bruh
Lady:SO Your TRUE INSPIRATION was TOM.
Lang lang: yeah yeah
how rude to interrupt him
Shut up and let him finish the piece! That is so rude and annoying, we don’t want to hear you blabbering, we want to hear his incredible talent!
The interviewers were absolutely rude. They interrupt him in the middle of a piece all the time.
It’s very rude to not show respect and keep interrupting. Fantastic music but disappointed interview.
Rudeness at 6:00
The presenter is OBSESSED with his age. 🙄 Old at 26? What would she say about Martha Argerich playing beautifully in her seventies. Rubinstein who was active in his nineties.
He's a really humble gentleman
Wtf is this? Shameful interview she really called a 26 year old concert pianist old 🙄
She is just doing her job. Forgive her.
How they destroyed his perfomance and this polonaise bei interrupting him

Eyyyy, I'm learning how to play that song!
These interviewers can say idiot on music, always trying to interrupt Lang Lang playing
i can play this easily
the video i mean
Oh geez that woman is annoying
Why the reporter has much more word than LangLang?
You are so good i love every moment listening to you
Why interrrupt him while he was playing? Lang Lang is kind to stop playing to answer their questions 💙😇
Nobody:
The interviewer: This time I won’t interrupt you...
Proceeds to fucking interrupt him🤔
I can't imagine that he would put up with her protocol!
Rude。。。
yikes, what is this recording space in a lobby lol
how rude to interrupt him
i mean the host did say play something for 1 min or so, this is a live show so it is impossible to finish that piece
She is a police or something? maybe BBC channel?
Indeed Yang! I wish Stephanie Hughes did the interview, she would have done a much better job!
0:05 Good morning sir
Cant stand him
She is so condescending and annoying.
Excellent!Polonaise needs player has big hands
“Leng Leng”
I would pay a lot of money to see a 2.5 year old play Hungarian rhapsody no.2
watching Barton's 2 yr old, who's no where close to playing anything, is free and is just as adorable.
Daniel Dagan he would act as he was playing it you idiot he didnt play it at 2
It was very rude to interrupt, but I assume they were out of time. He gave a wonderful interview and performance, considering the circumstances.
Toca bien pero no matiza nada
I dont want to wake up with the polonaise looool
il est superbe Lang Lang ! un grand pianiste !
I hope Lang Lang got paid a lot for this patronising interview. She will never understand the talent or dedication never mind the rude approach in telling him to stop playing 🙈
郎朗👍
She has no clue. Lang didn’t like this person and picked up on her stupidity in the first 10 seconds.
