Coming from an Arkansas fan, I must say that this was one of the classic college basketball games that won't be forgotten for future generations of sports followers! We once played Texas that season, and despite our defeat we fought really hard to the end and congratulated the future draft to the NBA, Kevin Durant, and even he is one of my favorite NBA players, though my #1 favorite is LeBron James, and my team is the Miami Heat!
This is why KU blows, their fans can't say anything without talking about theirselves! Get lost Poop dicks, Durant is better than any player Lawrence will ever have! You have 3 national titles, after being the founding school for basketball. Not that much to talk about, except that you're good at playing on your playground, with the tshirt squads squawking for you always!
AJ Abrams had a sweet stroke, unfortunately he wasn't drafted, now if I were a general manager, I could use that beautiful stroke on my squad. He could be in the league, making millions, instead he took his game overseas, best of luck to you AJ stay gifted and blessed!
@@mattneal5257 Oh yea, I think his height, hindered him from getting drafted, they said, he was the teeniest player going into the draft back in 2010. Do you know, if he graduated with his degree? I'm glad he made his money overseas though.
@@largec I don’t know if he graduated or not, but I was at this game and at the game @ Kansas a week earlier. Both were great games and it was fun seeing Abrams in person. And of course Durant. I had never seen a visiting player do what he did in the first half in Lawrence
To this day, I have absolutely no IDEA how teams just somehow magically fall apart in the second half when they've had a double digit lead on KU. Idk how Self does it, but it's absolutely infuriating to watch again and again if you're an opponent.
Anytime I see highlights of this particular team, I remember that absolute stupid decision of Rick Barnes to tell LaMarcus Aldridge to go pro when he wanted to come back and play with Durant. It was the beginning of his downfall at UT. Two future bonafide NBA superstars on the same college team would have been a nightmare for the Big XII even KU.
Historically this was soon before the game changed and wings became 10x more valuable than centers. At the time, the decision was a legitimate toss-up where Oden was seen as the safe choice. (I know, it boggles the mind these days)
Great game. Lots of fun to watch but did anybody else notice at the 1:11:11 mark that they gave KU 2 points after a charge on Chalmers? Never corrected it. Should have been down 5 when he hit the game tying 3
They counted the basket because the ref believed Chalmers released the ball before the charge. That’s the rule. It’s debatable whether he actually released the ball first but that’s a judgement call.
Idk why I even bothered watching this game, or the 07-08 one. You always know KU is going to win no matter how much they fuck around in the first half.
@4:55 too many counters. wright has too many moves for his own good. He needs to turn his head and locate the defender. He would have scored on the first over&back move. Then he could have hit a hook shot off the spin back. But he pump faked and pivoted again and ended up in a dead end. He had KD beat. He just needed to see/feel the defender better.
@5:30 that's disgusting. He just let that White man waltz across the lane and post him up deep in the paint smh. He better push that man. Don't let him face cut u like that
He spun right into KDs chest. Which isn't wrong but if u gon do that, then do that. You gotta bang him like shaq. If you was gon try to use finesse, you shouldn't have pivoted directly into the center of his body. He is 7 feet tall after all

This game had the feel of an NBA game.
It was like 6 or 7 NBA guys in this game
KD at only 18 years old.. what a monster.
KU still won tho
Yep!
Gage Vandeventer you damn right 😏 KU Baby

Agree, watching this game and everything about it reminded me of a Final Four. So much talent on the floor.
I'm a longtime Kansas fan that can tell u this was a outstanding Texas team.
I agree, I loved AJ Abrams, he put up 17 in this game, and gave the longhorns an extra spark on offense

Think he made a ton of $$$ playing overseas. Was the smart move for him

I'll tell you one thing though, I really miss watching these squads play, college bball just isn't the same anymore.😒😒
@6:50 son it's mad Time on the shot clock still lol. Why they showing that countdown? It's damn near a full minute left 😂

can you imagine? Rick always had good recruits but never two superstars at the same time.
Austin also
@@alexismoore2731 yep, got in his own way at UT
How Kevin Durant was not picked #1 is beyond me! I bet the GM who picked #1 would like a doover right now. And this was a classic game.

Hows does Holly look the same?
@11:25 good defense from texas yo. He covered the screener and the roller himself
Terrible call!!!! That's a travel. Excellent defense!!!

Yeah how did nobody notice that, especially either the players or refs? That can't happen. This game should have an asterisk lmao

@22:05 this is one of the greatest performances of a freshman in the history of college basketball this season
Bro, what? 🤨 *westbrook vc*
I know Greg Oden was nasty in college but the trail blazers didn't need Kevin Durant? Man was filthy
how did Texas lose this game?! up 32-10 and 78-74 with 40 seconds left. with Durant, Augustin, Abrams, D. James... this loss is on Rick Barnes
To think 2 of these players would have a ring in the nba and neither is Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant is a finals MVP today!
How bout now
He’s got 2 right now going for his third.
Me randomly listening to games while I work: hmmm I wonder if this guy is related to KD?
Lol Durant was top 5 in the NBA in this game
Ironic that this game was played in OKC.
one of those classics doo
Collins was so clutch
@19:38 missed him
Havent seen a another freshmen play as special as kd
your buddy says nope
that play to Mario looks vaguely familiar
Damion James could have been a monster
Would greatly appreciate the KU v. Texas game played earlier in the Season in AFH if you have it!!!!!
found it on Ksportsarchives
Still one of the best college game ever in my opinion. Rock Chalk Jayhawk
@22:50 augustin freaked the big man
Yo, Kevin Durant before he was big, let's go!
Mario bleeping Chalmers
Great question, I wonder what Kevins NBA potential will be? haha
