  • Composer Jerrel Dulay shares his build of converting a tamborine into a short scale Banjo, "Banjeurine" tuned in open C. All these parts are available through eBay or Amazon so anyone can build one of these.

She's a beauty! I made one too, but steel strung, and violin pegs, very hard to tune, but holds its tuning well. I woulden't be surprised if those strings sounded iffy on a larger insrument, unless you can keep the deformations at the peg behind the nut. Fellow banjo nut here!😊

Fantastic! G'day, fellow banjo nut, glad to hear you built one too! How does it sound with steel strings?

@@MountainHomeJerrel Nice and twangy, not a lot of low end. It's an a scale, like most banjos I make. It also has the first neck I ever carved that actually looked like a neck. It's really liberating to be able to make any neck size you want. But I'm glad days are over (sort of) that every round object I ran into was immediately turned into a banjo in my brain...😆 Looking forward to your next build, and this one of course!

@@ErickvdK Well done! Thanks for sharing. I'll one day have time to learn to make my own necks. One day. Glad to hear about your build. This one has very weak low end as you can tell. The scale length is just a bit too short so the low register strings are a bit loose.

So you converted a Tambourine into a Beanjeaurine (C Scale Banjo). It's a cute Banjo.

That's right! You got it! I just wanted a softer, brighter voice to use in this soundtrack I'm working on. Thanks for watching!

@@RockStarOscarStern634 oh hey, thanks for recommending those!! I do know of them but forgot. They aren't available in Australia or I would have ordered them. I'd have to order them from overseas and the shipping is a bit high. I've seen videos of them. Isn't the colour awesome?
