When I saw they upgraded to a USB C connector I knew it was time. I think the old USB Micro connectors are a PIA. Her new one is great. It synced right out of the box and connected to WiFi immediately. The thing is perfect! Sooo mine will arrive tomorrow. (Been reading off an old Fire) What bugs me are the reviewers that give this product one star because it didn't work out of the box or they were too dumb to figure it out. If it doesn't work send it back and get another one. It couldn't be easier with Amazon. Giving it one star because it didn't work says nothing about a good one that does work. I bet a bad one is one in a thousand or more. Give it a break...just get another one.

My older kindle would not charge and would white page. I tried to get it going but nothing would work until I realized that there had been lots of rain this year, and I wondered if the high humidity had affected the Kindle. I put the Kindle in a sealed plastic bag with lots of rice in it and the next day everything worked again. Amazing.
I hit it with my palm and it WORKED! U're smarter than all those fake Amazon experts who told me read it its last right and bury it next to my pet snake Rommel (may his venomous soul rest in piece).
I had almost given up and was ready to have the battery replaced even though kindle was less than a year old. All other recommendations were to just hold power button for 40 seconds. That didn't work even though I tried it multiple times. What they didn't suggest is that you do that while charging. That finally worked. Thank you so much for this advice and I'm saving this video in case this happens again but one of the other solutions is needed. You are brilliant and definitely an out of the box thinker!!

It worked for me. I think the reason was my kindle was run out battery for some weeks and that's why despite I have charge it, it didn't turn on. I hold pressed the power button for 15 seconds and it worked. Thanks.
My Kindle keyboard was blank one day after working perfectly for 12 years. I followed this video and it eventually worked. Plug into a computer USB. Hold the power button across for 40 seconds then let go. Leave it to reset for 20 minutes. If this doesn't cure it, do it again. It took 4 goes for mine to fully reset. It now appears to be perfect again.
OMG! this worked!!!!!! i searched high and low for a solution and every single one was de 40secs power button hold witch did not work! Amazon wanted to give me a 15% discount and to trade it in. Until I tried your tapping method and it worked! I really thought I had lost my Oasis, THANK YOU!!!!
My Kindle was on the tree screen for about a month and I tried everything - waiting for it to die, hitting it etc! It still showed an orange light when I charged and for some unknown reason, freezing it worked! I tried 30 mins (wasn’t enough), three hours (wasn’t enough) but overnight did the trick! Thank you so much!!

I tried all the steps in the video and the last resort was placing the Kindle in the freezer and it took a few days after that to be able to recharge my Kindle. Hooray it works perfectly now!

@@andreumlas6888 Yes, it still had battery! it was still in the tree logo when I put it in the freezer for half an hour, after that I tried again to force it to reset and finally overcame the tree logo! it's worth the try.

Holy shit It worked like a charm. I had charged my kindle all night and was worried it was broken. A few good taps and slaps and its working perfectly now.
Unfortunately none of these methods worked for me. A 2105 Paperwhite, always worked perfectly, then suddenly it won't open. Stuck on the tree screen. Amber and green lights show it's charging/charged. Holding the button down to reset gets the amber light flashing, then the screen flashes light and dark, then it's back to the tree screen. I removed the bezel and saw four very bright LEDs at the bottom, so I think the battery is OK. An Amazon Kindle tech couldn't figure it out. This was a Christmas present from my best friend so I don't want to give up too soon, but I'm getting the sense that it's hopeless, something other than the battery -- unless the battery has only enough juice for the lights and tree screen and not enough to open and read.

Tried all these things even the freezer. Eventually I connected to my laptop, opened up Amazon and looked for software updates, downloaded them and - sorted!

My screen is frozen with an image of an empty battery with an exclamation point inside it. sort of like: [ ! ]- When I press the power button the green start then flashes 3 times then off an a yellow light flashes 5 times. This repeats every 20 seconds if I continue ot hold the ower button and it does this if pluged into power or unplugged.
I kept it in the freezer and screen became normal after half hour.
But again it's screen became blurred.
Then can you suggest me what could be it's real problem.?
Found my wife kindle touch in the garage today. It was sitting there for 6 years because I couldn't fix it for her. I tried all these methods and still no lucks.
The problem with this kindle was there is no status bar after the blinking screen when doing the hard reset. Im guessing it could be the firmware problem. If it is then im no way I can fix it if I can't turn it on.
If anyone got a solution to this problem please let me know. I really wanted to fix it for my wife. She loves to read. :(
My amazon 7th Gen kindle display is like dimmed, not properly displayed. The screen seems like transparent and not thick or bold enough to give a clear display. What is the reason for that? How can I fixed this ? or else do I need to move to a new one? :-(

Mine doesn't doesn't work. I tried everything! If i turn It on the lights doesnt goes off, It keeps on. The status bar doesnt run. The lights at the bottom doesnt turn off at all, i had to take the battery off in order to turn It off.
It is completely frozen. The leds keeps on until the battery discharge. I tried to reboot several times but nothing changes. The only times I can access it is when I has just uncharged and a charge it agsin, it loads, but suddenly it freezes again.
