My older kindle would not charge and would white page. I tried to get it going but nothing would work until I realized that there had been lots of rain this year, and I wondered if the high humidity had affected the Kindle. I put the Kindle in a sealed plastic bag with lots of rice in it and the next day everything worked again. Amazing.

When I saw they upgraded to a USB C connector I knew it was time. I think the old USB Micro connectors are a PIA. Her new one is great. It synced right out of the box and connected to WiFi immediately. The thing is perfect! Sooo mine will arrive tomorrow. (Been reading off an old Fire) What bugs me are the reviewers that give this product one star because it didn't work out of the box or they were too dumb to figure it out. If it doesn't work send it back and get another one. It couldn't be easier with Amazon. Giving it one star because it didn't work says nothing about a good one that does work. I bet a bad one is one in a thousand or more. Give it a break...just get another one.

I had almost given up and was ready to have the battery replaced even though kindle was less than a year old. All other recommendations were to just hold power button for 40 seconds. That didn't work even though I tried it multiple times. What they didn't suggest is that you do that while charging. That finally worked. Thank you so much for this advice and I'm saving this video in case this happens again but one of the other solutions is needed. You are brilliant and definitely an out of the box thinker!!

Can't believe it worked for me my device was written of by the Kindle engineer I had the good fortune to show it to. He said u might need to change some components which would cost half as much as the device. Since the device was a gift it had emotional value and so I couldn't just throw it away. When I was shown this vdo I was skecptical to say the least but glad I just followed through. What worked for me was a restart + multiple whacks + battery to zero and recharge cycle several time. Thanks once again. Using the device for about 4 months now.

I have spent three days trying ALL the known fixes for my wife’s Kindle. None of them worked. I eventually found this video and tried the freezer trick (I had removed the back cover already so couldn’t try the tapping or slapping). I took it out of the freezer and left it to warm up then put it back on charge overnight. Hey presto! The green charge light was on when I got up in the morning and the kindle was working! Thank you so much, you saved me £70 on a new Kindle!
I am currently in this position. For interest sake did you screen freeze whilst reading? ie you can still read the text of the page you were on but the screen was then non responsive including back light?

I was about to throw my kindle out in the dustbin. But than, i saw this video, and tried smacking method and voilà, my kindle just started after 6-7 months. Thank you so much.
So I have tried all of your methods. I dropped my kindle in the pool for 5 seconds. Put it in rice and after a couple of days I was not able to do anything on the screen. I did try putting it into the freezer for a longer period of time (45 minutes) and then did the hard reset and it works 😊
I didn't need to try everything, but this is a good video. SOLVED MY PROBLEMS (and I thought my kindle was dead / destroyed (my problem was a kindle voyage, white screen and no backlight either, nothing, had no sign of life except when charging, the small charging light at the bottom near the micro USB connection responded as normal, but still had a white screen with nothing on it at all and no backlight either - but now it is working again, up and running! 😃😃 (I don't know why the screen suddenly became empty/blank with no backlight either. I was just reading a book and it happened before my eyes, I didn't do or press anything when it suddenly became a white screen and backlight also turned off). In my case, the solution was to charge it for 20 some minutes (using original Kindle charging cable together with appropriate power adapter, i.e. a weak one (in my case I used an old white iPhone charger), before I tried anything else. Then, while still plugged in, I long pressed the power button (like 30-45 seconds or something) until it responded as he described - and I then released the power button, and eventually it restarted and loaded everything (took a while, that is also when the screen started displaying things again, which was first the kindle tree, when loading), but/and then, when it was done loading, it was a normal kindle again, ready to use! And all content still there, just as normal.

My Kindle keyboard was blank one day after working perfectly for 12 years. I followed this video and it eventually worked. Plug into a computer USB. Hold the power button across for 40 seconds then let go. Leave it to reset for 20 minutes. If this doesn't cure it, do it again. It took 4 goes for mine to fully reset. It now appears to be perfect again.

It worked for me. I think the reason was my kindle was run out battery for some weeks and that's why despite I have charge it, it didn't turn on. I hold pressed the power button for 15 seconds and it worked. Thanks.

I tried all the steps in the video and the last resort was placing the Kindle in the freezer and it took a few days after that to be able to recharge my Kindle. Hooray it works perfectly now!

It still showed an orange light when I charged and for some unknown reason, freezing it worked! I tried 30 mins (wasn’t enough), three hours (wasn’t enough) but overnight did the trick! hi, can I ask for information, I have a 7th generation kindle. the kindle has the screen locked on a page, and it won't reset.I disconnected the battery, also the connectors for the touch screen and screen, but the page still remains on the screen.if I connect it to the pc, the light turns on, but the pc does not detect any connection to the kindle. could it be a problem with the battery? thank you
Unfortunately none of these methods worked for me. A 2105 Paperwhite, always worked perfectly, then suddenly it won't open. Stuck on the tree screen. Amber and green lights show it's charging/charged. Holding the button down to reset gets the amber light flashing, then the screen flashes light and dark, then it's back to the tree screen. I removed the bezel and saw four very bright LEDs at the bottom, so I think the battery is OK. An Amazon Kindle tech couldn't figure it out. This was a Christmas present from my best friend so I don't want to give up too soon, but I'm getting the sense that it's hopeless, something other than the battery -- unless the battery has only enough juice for the lights and tree screen and not enough to open and read.
I tried every method until finally threw it in the freezer for twenty mins and got the screen to appear with a critical battery image. Plugged it in for about ten mins and the screen appeared! Thank you so much ! I really didn't want to replace my Kindle Oasis :)

Amber and green lights show it's charging/charged. Holding the button down to reset gets the amber light flashing, then the screen flashes light and dark, then it's back to the tree screen. I removed the bezel and saw four very bright LEDs at the bottom, so I think the battery is OK. An Amazon Kindle tech couldn't figure it out. This was a Christmas present from my best friend so I don't want to give up too soon, but I'm getting the sense that it's hopeless, something other than the battery -- unless the battery has only enough juice for the lights and tree screen and not enough to open and read.
I tried every method until finally threw it in the freezer for twenty mins and got the screen to appear with a critical battery image. Plugged it in for about ten mins and the screen appeared!

I tried everything on the video and didn't work for me, so I had not much to loose and decided to open the device and see if disconecting the batery and connecting it again… I only had to open the front part and it worked allright. Such a relief.
I got nervous my kindle froze in low battery screen. I did these steps and now it's working again! Thanks for saving me from the anxiety of breaking my kindle before even completing 10 books! Thanks heaps~

what if I tried all of the solitons and my kindle is still frozen on the page with kindle logo and the boy reading a book against a tree and there's no loading? I have literally tried everything from this video
