30:00 I know what kind of wood that is! Looks like your vehicle got hit by Oriented Strand Board, or OSB. That kind of wood is not good for hurricane zones. The vast majority of roofs that failed during Hurricane Andrew had OSB as the roof decking. OSB is very easily weakened by wind driven rain: a neighbor of mine in Wisconsin had OSB decking around his charcoal grill for two years, and it had the consistency of oatmeal.

This is my biggest fear, getting hit by a major hurricane and being flooded. Texas has come really close to some bad storms since I have been here, but they usually turn and hit Louisiana.
Excellent video. Have to agree with some commenters. Lost everything. Home was 3 miles northeast of TAFB. In your defense though, you guys see so much of this sort of thing in tornados, I think you inure to it, to the personal side of it. Probably would happen to me too if I was involved in your work. No worries.
dude it's a jeep it can be replaced. homes and lives are harder, businesses, STOP WHINING
It doesn’t even have to. It’s just a dent
Amazing footage
This is really heart breaking...to know a lot of people are going to have some major damage when this is over.
I still can't believe I lived through this
Same
Palm trees are strong, haven't seen one fall yet...💪🏾
I'm curious, what is the air temp in a hurricane like this?
Always park away from buildings in a hurricane my bro. Best place is the farthest from any structure.
Krattle Rattle and trees.
I never understand why ppl think putting an x on windows with d. Tape is gunna help with anything.... Instead of small flying glass u will have large flying glass.... Tape will not stop ur windows from breaking man.
It doesn't. I think it's to keep them from exploding inward. Not going to keep it from breaking, but might keep it from exploding on the inhabitants, if they're inside the building. I honestly never really understood, either.
Buen trabajo , gracias por compartirlo.
Imagino el daño en los lugares mas VULNERABLES .
Ahí no es para terminar riendo .
That's how it looked 45:20 the morning before the 12 feet of water came during Katrina. It looked like the worst was over....then...
Why stand out so close to the storm??pretty wreckless and
stupid to be honest.
Welcome to Panama City Beach FL
You do realize that is the point. Tornado chasers, for the sake of filming, go where others don’t for the safety
Your jeep has battle scars now._
I do love this video! Seriously one of the best hurricane video I have ever seen in my life! I love watching this one octane over! Great shots!! Awesome! Keep up the good work! 😀
Man, i had a tornado pass near my home, and the hail core beat the daylights out of my car. I think its like war wounds or something. just wear the dents with pride.
Michael obliterated everything in its path. What looks to be undamaged from a distance has water damage from the rain pushed inside by the winds. Unreal storm.
Good coverage man
"Well at least the backside of the storm won't be as bad, it'll be wet but not that bad." Says the weather expert behind the camera.
That's a pretty solid fence around the dumpster.
I live in hurricane territory (Houston, Texas). I would never ride out this storm unless I am in a huge building like an airport or hotel.
Complaining about a car seriously 😳 have insurance good...still alive great 👍 you were told to leave not good sometimes being smart having a great job doesn’t pay 💰 for stupidity.
aha
What would be more useful than a time code for the VIDEO, would be the actual local time the segments were recorded.
I liked your coverage.Good work.Stay safe.
This storm created a minimal storm surge oddly.. if it had created a normal Storm surge for its size. it would have wiped lots of people off the map out to sea... Along with all the debris that is left... As bad as this storm was these people are very very freaking lucky
Minimal being nearly 16 feet with huge waves on top of that, wiping nearly all of Mexico Beach off the map. That Ain't minimal at all.
I was in it, Trust me, it was not close to being minimal...
I wouldn't say that 15-22 feet of storm surge is minimal but if you say so...
Guys I am just now seeing posts that are being put up on several videos that I didn't post. I am so sorry for any negativity that was posted under my name. I haven't even seen the videos that "my posts" are under! I did find a post several weeks ago and I did change my password. But I had no idea that there were so many posts. Again, I am so so sorry!
Cassie Lemoine No offense, but I can‘t tell if you‘re serious or just don’t want to own up to the ignorance. What these people experienced, especially the residents of eastern Bay County, is no joke. This is the strongest storm to hit the U.S. in decades.
thanks for this video..i had no idea that it was that bad..and cars can be replaced!!!
so a storm chaser parks his car under an awning knowing that a cat 4 is coming through. The storm did not damage his car alone, gravity did. That stuff fell straight down on top of it. What was he thinking? Put your car as far away from a structure as possible. Park it far, far away and just hope the blowing debris is all it has to content with, not stuff falling from above the awning you just parked under
Yes I was in Panama City with hurricane Michael he got hit very bad
My Fiance: "Face it, if you and I got our cars torn up, we'd be mad too"
Me: "We're also not brain-damaged enough to park them under literally the first thing to go in a Cat 4 Hurricane. Awnings, Canopies and Gas Stations, my friend."
Next time, park it under an overpass or in someone's garage.
Great lovely footage!
Congrats for capture!
Moment you knew you should’ve had a Chevy 😂
Joseph Gooch I have been through two Chevys in 9 years. I will not recommend them to anyone.
My BMW has lasted much longer and has more miles now.
- JAVA - Both of my trucks have ride around 400,000 miles then run wonderfully as long as you take care of something it will run pretty much forever lol
18:50 are the lights on the cars on because the alarm is going off?
Ah yes that water. I remember swimming in that
Well isn't that 2nd floor bar open?
Can you imagine Mexico beach Florida just east of Panama city Beach was even worse!!!
That Holiday Inn Express is in CALLAWAY, NOT Springfield right at the intersection of Hwy 98 and Hwy 22.
Goes in to chase/document a very intense/destructive hurricane, and is surprised his car got damaged🤦♀️🤣....Dude!!!🤣
I just was thinking, hey didn't I see this hotel's entrance canopy collaspe? Then I realize oh, iCyclone and this guy were both at the same hotel recording the same, no wonder! :D
Didn’t you learn that winds are amplified under overpasses? I could have probably predicted that thing falling apart with winds like those lol love the videos though. Insane the power nature possesses
Lol that window sounds like a motorcycle running. Hahahaa
And they thought the overhang awning was going to be protection. When the video first started I was wondering if that was going to be gone.
You go in the direct path of a Catagory 5 and you are surprised about the damage....
Was that the side impact airbag deployed on the other jeep beside yours?? SHiiiiet!!
