By the end of Charlie's career, his skill as a genius-level musician will be overshadowed by his skill in choosing drummers and horn players... and also for having the best guitar face in the business.
First encountered this when it was uploaded 6 years ago and it still blows me away every time. Was reminded of it today from Rhett Shulls channel. Virtuosic playing, incredible recording.
Fascinating stuff. Everything about this is interesting, and a lot of that comes down to the EXCELLENT video and audio. I love being able to appreciate what you guys are doing, and I love that the film is showing me exactly what I want to see. Thanks again.
Love Kirk Knuffke's playing. Sounds a bit like Kenny Wheeler. This is such a great tune from the album. It has a kind of New Orleans vibe to it. My only gripe is that these guys should have come over to Spain on tour. Joe

He reinvented the stank face!
I think it’s a bass face instead 🤔
@@julianmitchell3035 He reminds me of my bearded collie looking round while taking a dump and then the big smile. Lovely.
I always wonder if Charlie wears a tooth guard while he plays, so he doesn't grind his teeth down to the roots. GO CHARLIE, GO!
A+ drummer. Plays exactly what the song asks for with great taste..
lol chill out dude
What... He/She is just complimenting the drummer, not saying he's the best out of all.
Props to the drummer! This piece is beautiful and minimal.
Bobby Previte is the freakin' man. Always gives a song exactly what it needs. Great guy too. LOVE his work on JMT with Tim Berne!
dynamics 11/10
By far, in my opinion, one of the most innovative creative and funky guitarist of all time!
It doesn't get any more genuine than this.
All respect for the audio team. Did a 100% job to get a grip on reflection. Absorption panels are in the right spot.

Can't say it better.
We're trying on our channel to do something similar. Charlie is the master, though.
Drummer is Bobby Previte (for those who don't know). Long respected player in drummer world.
Awesome, awesome drummer. Weather Clear, Track Fast.
@@Alino17 One of my favorite albums.
Saw him sit in with John Zorn's Naked City, which has got to be confusing. He dropped a whole lotta jaws that night.
I thought that was him - been listening to him since the 80s...
I feel smarter for having experienced this. Thank you to all involved.
this is where the true good music is going.
The bit where the horns do a vamp sounds like an organ the first time I heard it on the CD while I was driving. Beautiful!
Joe
Sophisticated and sarcastic. I like this.
What... my mind is blown, amazing stuff.
Now that, folks, is a great recording. Watch out for the dynamics!
Wow, most authenthicc song that i have heard in a while!
gave me chills and goosebumps on the first listen...🔥
The guitar tone is actually also really unique. You forget about these little things while watching him play
Hundreds of thousands of views. Not bad, but it deserves millions.
That Bridge at the end or whatever you may call it always gives me goosebumps
Haven’t watched this for a year or so. Still 100%
Sounds like, the music itself conducts each of the instrument player, even a complete 'rest' does it. This is how a music should sound!
Ahhhh. So relaxed and smooth. But not even fair that dude can play bass and guitar at the same time. Man.....
Inspirational amounts of pocket.
Outstanding piece and playing!
His face is the best !!! haha
>being rude
>implying someone else is childish
guys, i loved the music, sorry for the comment. i like his face on the vídeo, his expressions show me how much he is in the music.
Estevão Coelho nothing wrong with your comment
Ho my god, look at this holier than thou dude, it's easy to stir people's pot when you're wearing a mask right? I feel sorry for you man...
i hate that idiot face
This is exactly what I needed in my life
Rhythmic perfection. So good.
This is pure genius.
Love it!! just flat out music!
I love how he looks like he wants to punch someone in the face when he plays.
the door creak at 7:16 sounds just like the trombone's bit
Wow it literally does lol sounds like the same key too
Exactly!!))
The style change. Sold
Masterpiece
This slaps so hard man
Curtis Fowlkes!! Represent!
Great line-up! Drummer is dope.

Joe
My god is this cool
Was that a Dixieland funeral ? ,,, Wow !..
I had that same thought, almost like the second line coming in with that horn vamp.😀
This is brilliant!
Love this tune!

Insane!
Who's on trombone? Love his sound - melds well with Knuffke.
Look at the description
That is what I call fierce concentration!
Guau! Increíble!!
awesome
This performance is fucking crazy good.
this is a church we should all attend on sundays.
Nice❤
Bobby Previte is the glue here....weird, but awesome.
This is rocking the church and shaking it ... nice
just super.
The 18 people that don't like this video need Lava Enemas. :) ........there. I said it.
Great, unusual piece! But...wish the horns would hit the notes together. I should be hearing their mix of sound, not their individual sounds.
DAMN
wow!
Anyone know what the sound barrier + mic is for in the center of the room?
Room tone. Get the reverb of the space they are in. The barrier is probably so the drums don't just over power it.
Like the complete Album: "Sharkhammerbeautifullgreat!!!!!!!!! :)
And so wonderfull creativ as the titles! :)
Demasiado bueno ya, mucho sabor, brutal... (Y)
Great😀
It was ok but then the new part past the 5 minute mark... WOW!

Band of Groovers
