Very good job of starting with simple/basic ideas of the guitars and working into deeper detail in a very well condensed episode. Thanks for one of the best descriptions I've heard about all four models. I came here out of curiosity about the Jazz and the Jag. I am still a Tele fan. It is hard to beat and it just plain looks good.
THE best overview of Fender electrics on UA-cam. Great work PMT Every guitarist should have a Tele, Strat, and a Les Paul. There’s no substitute for the real things. Anyone who says one can do it all just don’t sound as good.
But what if you don't want to sound like any of the above. Jazzmaster and Jaguar give you so much flexibility to experiment and come up with a unique tone. It's not about "one can do it all", it's about all the things it can do inbetween. They're definitely worthy guitars for any collection.
I must admit, I think I've missed out on Jaguars. For some reason I let other people's opinions on the Jaguars influence me without my having even tried one! Man, that thing sounds great, really unique sounding , probably my favorite here.
Very, very, very good vid. Exceptional explanations. I've played them all over 50+ years...a few things you omitted, but very nicely done. Should point out there is a DEFINITE difference in TONE in each line, depending on series date of manufacture, which tonewoods (in each style), etc. Most won't be able to discern, but seasoned, experienced guitarists certainly do. That's
...that's why certain production years (per style) are most desireable. You just did a super job on this video...outstanding work !!! ... Crossbow, BMI, pro musician & songwriter, USA
I've been playing guitar for quite a while and have too many guitars, for sure... but this reminded me of something I once said on social media to stir the pot with all my other guitarist friends, and that is that all electric guitars basically sound the same (within certain obvious parameters, of course). The reaction to that was about what you would expect it to be... Now, I could easily tell that the first guitar in the tone comparison section was a Strat before it cut to him playing it, but it's easy to forget that it took me a few years to be able to do that reliably. But I was surprised when I realized that the video had cut to the Tele neck pickup from the Strat neck pickup while I was looking away for a moment, because I thought he was still playing the Strat. (On my laptop speakers, granted.) Anyway, I mention this because I think we guitarists could use some measure of intellectual honesty with ourselves... namely that we buy and play the guitars that we play primarily because of how they make us feel while playing (assuming a certain standard of playability). And that's OK. But in terms of pure tone, I could use any of my guitars interchangeably a majority of the time, albeit with some tweaks to my amps and pedals. Doesn't mean I would LIKE doing it... The truth is, people who don't play electric guitar don't really care what gear we have. They care how we make them feel. They might care what an instrument looks like, especially if it's unique and eye-catching... but with all the minutia we obsess about with guitar gear, it's helpful to remember that we're probably just doing so for our own entertainment.
i could as well tell each guitar with out looking as soon as i here the strat i thingk of this kinda music but the tele i think country blue grass tones jazz master surf tones 50s 60s 70s music simular with jaguar jazzmaster that work well with a springy reverb genre with that being said to compair them with a same riff as this made for a strat to the others is kinda like takeing willy nelson brian wilson bob dylan and comairing them singing to turbo lover by judas priest

I come from the Nile rogers school...grew uo on his amazing strumming technique with chic...also the guys in heatwave...and the guitarist for kc and the sunshine band...i love some heavier things...but those listed from my perspective where important things for me as a kid... D
I've always been a strat guy (single coils only) for as long as I played guitar, mostly because all my guitar idols play them. The other day a friend messaged me saying he's looking to sell his Jazzmaster. I've heard of it obviously, just like I've heard of the Jaguar, and what kind of music they're usually associated with. But I never had a chance to try one myself, and I knew nothing about what all those little switches do. Your video absolutely sold me on it, and I just messaged him back to tell him I'll buy it. It provides so much range, from bright almost tele-sounding tone, to a warm nearly humbucker-like tone. Not to mention the little trick you did when strumming behind the bridge. I am gonna have so much fun experimenting with my new Jazzmaster.
My 2 go to guitars are my Jaguar clone that I built from a kit and my modded Squire '51 (technically a Fender but not a fender). Thanks for the great video, sounds like you helped a lot of people choose their next axe.
Great job, very well done, professional to a T! Really enjoyed your presentation, knowledge and great 'down to earth playing' in the demos. Well done cheers Roy

I've got a Fender player plus strat, a Player jaguar, a squier affinity tele, a cv jaguar, and many more guitars, but I really want a Mustang next. It seems like the perfect guitar for someone who likes Strats and Jaguars.

Very informative straight to the point. Visually appealing to compare/contrast between each guitar quickly. I already have a strat but the tele is my next purchase. Then a jag and jazz. Gotta have em all.
I’ve got a Jaguar with Gibson setup( tunimatic bridge n hard stop tailpiece , humbuckers, 3way switch). Really like it. Wasn’t sure about the scale though . Thanks

You've made a great comparison video here. I prefer my Strat to my Tele, maybe as I improve in playing that could change. I'm going to try to trade for a Vintera Jazzmaster today and I'd like to add a Jaguar someday as well. A kudos to Fender's Vintera series. Great video. I would have been interested in the neck width though.
