I absolutely love your Fauxbo books ALL of them .. when I am feeling blue I often go back to the beginning and watch your first flips of your Fauxbo and see how many hours I can get through of all your books. I have to say each time I just adore your first few months .. I absolutely loved your drawings and was sorry to see them slowly disappear over the years. Yes I know clip art and magazine cuttings look more crisp and professional but I loved your drawings and doodles I have always loved that style, its always why I love children's drawing and painting so much so I love it when I see adult takes on that style and yours was perfect 😍
Thank you so much for watching Karen!! What a sweet thing to say :) I'm glad you like to go back and watch the older videos. It was fun doing those types of pages with more drawing/doodling and coloring, but now I am really enjoying the simplified way of doing the Fauxbonichi; it really frees up some time to work on other projects. Hope you are doing well :) Be well, Elizabeth
You have inspired me to make the current journal I was getting ready to bind together into a Fauxbonichi! I think I will enjoy it a lot. I've been writing, doodling & gluing into an altered medical reference book and love it but think this style is even better! I want to learn the discipline of taking time each day or at least a few times a week to write down my feelings, etc. I too have a chronic illness so don't always have the energy or feel well enough to craft a lot but this I think will be very therapeutic and also help guide my therapy sessions along. Thank you Elizabeth! ♥ Angie
Thank you so much for watching and I'm so thrilled that you've been inspired to create your own Fauxbonichi!! Even though I have daily entries, I do not work in my book daily, however a keep running notes on my phone daily so that I can refer back to them when I get the time to journal. I also collect various pieces of ephemera along the way, i.e.: receipts, tags, menus, business cards, etc. and paper clip them to that day, so I remember to add them to the page somehow. The possibilities are endless with this type of journaling. If you have more private journaling, you could always tip in an envelope with some journaling on that if you want. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!! Be well, Elizabeth
Thank you for sharing this. My strange sense of humor and a love for words, has me giggling at all the ways the closed captions tried to spell fauxbonichi
Fascinating... I do have one decorated composition book that I was using to practice lettering in. I like how you did your journals... and am looking forward to hearing more about how your style is changing now.
Thank you so much for watching!! Glad you are enjoying and hope that you've been inspired to try your hand at the Fauxbonichi, it really is a fun way to journal about your every day. Be well, Elizabeth
I really liked seeing how you started, love the wonky drawings. That's so funny how you don't care to draw and I've be trying to think of a way where I could draw in my journal.
Thanks so much for watching Heidi!! Isn't it funny, I'm looking for pictures/images to paste into my book, so I don't have to draw and you're doing the opposite :) I do enjoy drawing, but I have a separate book for that. Be well, Elizabeth

I love your style and how it has evolved! I watched some of your old happy planner journal videos and loved those too! Are you still doing anything weekly like that?
Thank you so much for watching Shona!! I no longer do the Happy Planner as a journal of sorts, I usually use a handmade journal and have daily entries to document my life. In more recent videos, I am using a moleskine journal and some spreads are weekly. HTH :) Be safe and be well, Elizabeth

I will love to try this but I have issues with what to write and I can't draw at all. But I can do an altered composition book b/c I create my own personal planners since I was child b/c we didn't have $. Im really good with computer designing and I have OK handwriting nothing fancy.
Thank you so much for watching!! Loving your YT name, that's what my mother used to call me when I was little :) Please do give journaling a go, I don't think you will regret it!! There is always something to write about. I use my journals to document what goes on in my day, anything from doing laundry to what I had for dinner to what shows I'm watching on TV or on YT, to doctor's appts., you name it. I don't put in anything that I would be afraid for someone else to see if you know what I mean; that is not the purpose of my books. My books are for the sole purpose of an autobiography of sorts, therefore I never run into the problem of "what to write about." I don't prefer drawing, myself, so I use magazine clippings or I use clip art (though these days I use less and less clip art). You CAN draw, you can do anything you put your mind to. With the use of YT, you can learn how to do just about anything. Find some channels that are geared to drawing for beginners and you will be on your way. I have learned just about everything I do from UA-cam, from making junk journals, to watercoloring to crochet. I'm not an expert in any of it, but it is fun to play and learn new things all the time. Composition books are a great place to start because they are inexpensive and there is no worry that "messing up" (though I don't really believe in messing up) can occur. I think it's great that you are really good with computer designing, one of the ladies in the Decorative Journaling group on Facebook does a lot of her pages with digital art and her books are tremendous. Use your skills and be patient with yourself :) Sorry for the book, but I so want to encourage you to try journaling out. It should be something that is fun and that you enjoy doing, not something that begins to feel like a chore :) Be well, Elizabeth
Thank you so much for watching!! I'm sorry you were in the hospital :( Hope you are doing well now. There is always something to put on a page, even if it's about nothing!! Be well, Elizabeth

Thank you so much for watching Eileen!! Glad you enjoyed and found the channel. The difference in my opinion between a Fauxbonichi and an altered comp book is that the Fauxbonichi is based off of the traditional Japanese Hobonichi where there is a definite header, dated pages, and starts out blank, not like a junk journal where they are typically hand made from various patterned papers and such. The Fauxbonichi is originally from Miss Vicky Bee where she made a replica of the Hobonichi in a composition book as the Hobonichi, at the time, was difficult to get and quite pricey. They are all just daily journals though, so do what you feel makes you happy :) Hope that makes sense. Be well, Elizabeth

Thank you so much for watching, subscribing and commenting!! I will definitely show some of the books you asked for in an upcoming Ramble Session, stay tuned :) I do have several different books for various purposes. I have one for collage, one for my trees, one for faces that I've drawn, etc. It can be overwhelming at times, if I put too much pressure on myself. The key for me, is to not try to work in all of them simultaneously if that makes sense. I do what I can, when I can. One day, I might wake up and have a hankering for collage, so I take the collage book out. One day, I might want to draw a face, so I do. The only book I work on semi-consistently is my Fauxbonichi; I try to write something about each day, but I don't necessarily work in that book on a daily basis either, even though I do have daily entries. Some days, I just feel like getting the paints out and playing, making painted papers. I go where my creative muse takes me. I watch A LOT of UA-cam and get so much inspiration from the people I watch. I do get overwhelmed often when I have several projects going on at the same time. I have to stop myself and remind myself that I am doing this first and foremost for me, that I am doing this for fun and I try not to put too much pressure on myself. Never Hopeless by Elizabeth ahhhh ok, so that’s what I wanted to know how you remember the dates. I was making totally complex but it’s not. Yes, you’re right, once it becomes a chore it’s no longer fun.
Do you normally write on your pages before decorating Or ask you? I’m asking because you always seem to have enough space to write. What do you do if you run out of space to write?
Thank you so much for watching!! These videos are from a few years ago and and these books, I would kinda do both at the same time to make sure I had enough space to write what I wanted. If I remember correctly, I would glue the pictures in, then lay out my writing in pencil, then go over it all in pen, then color in the backgrounds with colored pencils. Over the years, while I enjoyed it, it was taking me way too long to complete a page. In the book I create now, I decorate the page first, then write in my journaling and if I need more space for something, I use a tip in or I make a tag, or write my extra writing on a note pad and stick it in a pocket. Thank you so much for watching and for your question!! If I have a book cover, let's say that I want to include in my journaling, I take the book and lay it on my printer, I then go to settings where I have the option to enlarge or reduce the photo by a certain percent. I usually reduce the image on the printer to about 50 or less percent, then I photocopy it. I enjoy putting all sorts of things in my journals and this is a great way to add items that would otherwise be too big. HTH Be safe and be well, Elizabeth
Thanks so much for watching!! I'm not really sure to be honest, I've never counted them out, and sometimes I make a mistake in glueing and glue only two pages together instead of three. I start out at the beginning and glue three pages throughout the book. Math is not my strong suit either, that's why I stick to journaling, LOL!! I use the first page of the book to hold my pocket, then I pre-date in pencil however many days are in the month, then I count out the pages in the back, however many days are in the next month and then I use the extra pages in the middle for my pocket in the center. I sure hope that made sense. I've been doing it this way for 4 years and it's always worked out for me; two months fit into each book with some pages left over. There will always be extra pages, because you will typically come out with two sets of 33 pages, and depending on how many days are in that particular month, you could have anywhere from 2-5 extra pages. Happy Journaling :) Be well, Elizabeth

Thank you! Your method makes perfect sense.....
