+Dev Everything my 4.0 fj cruiser that does 0-60 in an okay 6.8 seconds chuggalugs up at 8000 feet. My guess is it takes 9 seconds? Forced induction cars don't have as much of a problem at the altitude they test these cars at. The ATS-v that combines twin turbo's to that 3.6 liter making 465 hp that can be used in the high altitudes.
The ATS's engine bay is in fact large enough to fit a 7.0L engine. Now that would be crazy. The ATS-V is definitely coming, I can't wait to see what GM comes up with
+Marcus Prousis That's wrong. The 3.6 liter ATS would be the most appropriate competitor to the 335. The CTS now competes with the 5 series, E-Class, A6. Completely different class of car. Subtract 1.0 to 1.5 seconds from these guys reviews and then you get the real 0-60. It almost seems like this is more of a comedy thing than actual car review, not trying to be harsh but Fast Lane Car needs more professional drivers.
I disagree with your first point. GM has already stated that a turbo V6 would not get any better fuel economy than the small block. Hence why the Corvette received a V8 and not a turbo V6. Anecdotally, my Trans Am with an LS1 got 31mpg on the highway, without direct injection, cylinder deactivation, or any of the other tech that went into the new LT1. On your second point, I think that's why they'll go naturally aspirated on the ATS-V to make it more pure sporty, and supercharge the CTS-V

Probably for two reasons. One, maybe only the 2.0 was available to them. Second, at a mile above sea level, the turbo would probably be just as quick as the NA v6. Best chance to match a time is with forced air injection.
tommy605 Price wise and power wise the CTS4 (v6 TT) is a more direct comparison to the 335iX. I see the BMW 335iX for $60k-$70k and similar for the CTS4 (V6TT).
Nah, the price point can double when you do that. Point is if you want to spend the money on 335iX fine. But don't ignore the fact that this comparison is a fallacy.
So really it's the amount of psi the turbo is running at then? If the Caddilac would run those amounts of psi the power would have been much greater and the race would have been much closer.

I avoid electrical problems in any car I buy...BMW like VW favour practicality and simplicity in design...which is what attracts me, but most of all the handling..I'm rooting for the Caddy to get close enough there...drag racing on the street is illegal here...and power without control is sheer stupidity
German owners esp at the higher economic levels are very fussy about perfection in engineering...so they complain more than any American admirers about their most valued possessions. Cognititve dissonance theory will always assure that if an American spends this much money on a car.... he is guaranteed to love it...Germans and Europeans will still keep a critical eye open
I can attest to this. Have a cousin in a 06 330i and he's almost spending every other week in the shop. Heard it was constantly overheating. Not to reliable BMWs...
Tha 328i does not do 5.4, it's more like 5.6 secs. & the 335i is in tha high 4's or 5 flat at lower elevation. If u were to pay attention they are about a mile above sea level
I owned an E30 and it was more reliable than the MS6, so I'm not sure about the whole "Mazda reliability" thing. Besides that, both Mazda and BMW are quirky as hell. Doing simple mechanical tasks on either one tend to be more difficult than on American cars.
Yes, let's leave it up to the brand that's eliminating all manual transmission options from their cars in America. Definitely sounds like the brand for enthusiasts...
Then whats the point of this test? Similar sized cars, but one with6 cylinders and the other 4 cylinder. Was the outcome a surprise? 5 minute video for this test, if you going to make it a tedious affair, make the cars similar all round.
That's an outdated view. The Corvette, Camaro, and Mustang don't really have any good competition (on the track) in their price range from foreign cars. That's last-gen domestic sport cars vs mostly new competition. They're all losing hundreds of pounds for the new generations that are coming out in the next couple years and getting some pretty hefty power bumps and suspension upgrades.
It would have been a more even comparison with the ATS 3.6. Except for the navigation/CUE, Cadillac is very good and they are beginning to surpass BMW. And I've had a repair shop for 20 years, BMW is not very reliable at all...what level were you talking about?
Well bash me if u want but American cars have caught up with and bested the foreigns now. Gone are the days u can make the lame American cars break down argument. Come join the rest of us in 2014 please. The reviews have spoken. The ATS is a better driver than the Bimmer. The new CTS has been also getting rave reviews and is lighter than every car in its class. What's that about fat Americans? Yeah, thought so. Have several seats all of u talking smack u don't know. #factsWin
You are correct. American cars are seeing a renaissance. The handling and performance. But the styling is now surpassing the Europeans with sensible unique looks. The interior is starting to break down in my friend 2012 BMW 5 series. Even the US are making good interiors now.
Breen Whitman Right on all counts, except styling (which is personal preference of course). I think it's ugly as hell on the outside, mainly those goofy looking headlights. I don't mind the body lines, the rear end is a bit brash and the steering wheel is gaudy as hell, but I'm gonna pick one up anyway, found a good deal.
This Caddy was built to beat the benchmark of that class, the BMW 3 seriess and It fails, but now....look maaaam' ...It's competing in it's own class! Just admit it: it fails, It is just another premium sedan powered by a 2.0 Turbo engine It's good, but not the best....end of story!

I avoid electrical problems in any car I buy...BMW like VW favour practicality and simplicity in design...which is what attracts me, but most of all the handling..I'm rooting for the Caddy to get close enough there...drag racing on the street is illegal here...and power without control is sheer stupidity
I need a ATS V6 mashup
He is down now. Since October his accounts Veeman/Coleman/Cadrolls & Co. are offline
Indeed. Also, a little bird told me that the 3.6 V6TT will fit inside the ATS body, albeit snugly. Anyone here smell an ATS-V?
No ATS 3.6? The 328i would have been a much closer comparison with the 2.0T
theres a reason why ppl buy so many of them... under 5 seconds to 60, luxury and german quality.
Cadillac still benchmarks the 3, the Dimensions of the ATS is within millimetres of the 3 and even the engine choices are close
I can attest to this. Have a cousin in a 06 330i and he's almost spending every other week in the shop. Heard it was constantly overheating. Not to reliable BMWs...
Wouldn't a ATS 2.0T and BMW 328i comparison have made more sense?
I don't even speak spanish and I understood what you said because its the truth.
Tha 328i does not do 5.4, it's more like 5.6 secs. & the 335i is in tha high 4's or 5 flat at lower elevation. If u were to pay attention they are about a mile above sea level
I'm sure the sun is blinding you and looking into the camera is a bit scary, But presenting in sunglasses is still a bit amateurish.
The ATS V6 would have been the better choice but it guess it wasn't available
Videos of some little problems of bmws wasn't helping us with the BLS!!
These cars aren’t even closely matched. Try comparing a 328i with the ats 2.0t
bmw was brake boosted cadi wasnt..
I owned an E30 and it was more reliable than the MS6, so I'm not sure about the whole "Mazda reliability" thing.
Besides that, both Mazda and BMW are quirky as hell. Doing simple mechanical tasks on either one tend to be more difficult than on American cars.
Great Review! Get the CTS.
Dude if you're gonna review cars you better learn how to launch that sucker.
кадди на свои заявленные секунды не едет
а что лучше каадди атс или ауди а5 спортбек?
You should be using the 3.6 against the 335i. Smh that Cadillac Ats is better around corners than the BMW.
No comparison. It's like a mustang vs a neon.

Right on all counts, except styling (which is personal preference of course).
Wrong - BMW is designing their cars several times in the year, and Hitler is dead. What are you talking?
Why, they never do.
335i x drive and m sport package is the way to go
Right, if they had done a proper comparison and used the ATS 3.6 instead of the 4, I bet the Caddy would have trounced the BMW.
