Pixl Visn? :P
6:14 whoa that button sounds dangerous
LMFAO :)
I really love these tutorials. I've become back to them, time and time again, for the 5 years!
Thanks! 4 years later and you're still helping people! Really appreciate it!
Literally more up to date and intuitive than my Entire Game Design Schools tutorials which are still using 2016.
I know where I'm coming for help on my Assignments from now on. +subbed
Thank you so much !
@@MHTutorials3D i do have one question though if you know anything about it. Whenever i export the pillow into unity it shows up as the blank spread out rectangle instead of the pillow seen in maya. Like, it reverts back to before the play button was pressed. I made sure it was all good and history deleted. But still same issuem if you don't know don't worry. Still an amazing tutorial that i learnt much in.
I agree!
Thank you so much Mike.. your tutorial helped me save poly count!
This is the best way to create a low poly pillow.
6:16 i got a jumpscare.
Hi Mike, thanks for this. I'm a 3D and texturing student, finding basic vids for props is really helping in the learning curve.
Good, you are welcome
This is a great tutorial! It covers a lot in a short amount of time and showcases one of the very cool features of Maya. Thank you for doing this.
And to think that I would have to manually shape the pillow with sculpting...
This is so much more streamline!
Legend!
Thanks
I'm not good at English but your video is really easy to learn! I could understand everything you taught. Thank you! This is really helpful and useful video.
I so love this work flow! I saw you do this before and I remember thinking: "Why didn't I think of this, this is so easy". I've used in Modo and Cinema 4D now too. And it looks so organic, nothing that you'd actually make yourself by modeling
I know right. That is what it is all about. Getting creative with the tools you have
my jaw dropped when I inflated it for the first time
the possibilities...
thank you!
It is cool, right ?
supercool!!
I dont even have to search for you anymore, I can just search for a Maya topic and there you are :-)
LOL
Ok this is soo cool.. im a 3d beginner and only just started using maya in university just a few weeks ago and this is AWESOME... very useful... thanks mike
sir, please make a video on maya 2018 uv editor. they added lots of new options.
I will
Your explanation was very clear and your English is very easy to understand, also for not native person, like me. Thank you very much! I subscribed! ^^
Really appreciate learning from you sir
its working ty sm
Wow this technique saves so much time. Thanks Mike
You are very welcome
I was expecting something much harder than this haha, thanks dude
Well, that was perfect then :-)
Thank you so much. This is the best way to create a low poly pillow
this is exactly what i was looking for great
This is brilliant!! thank you for sharing!!
If u will add the ncloth again at the end with less pressure and add a collider object using the Menu:nCloth:Add passive collider, you will have a dynamic cloth for animations.
Yes I know. Cool right !
Is this something specific to 2018?
I use Maya 2017, and got to the point that I was able to make the pillow and edit it so it has pipelines, but I cannot seem to reactivate the gravity even after adding another ncloth.
Srt Tanaka you need to turn thr gravity in the nucleus back to 9.8
Wow!
Damn, this is really cool, nice tutorial!
Thank you
Thank you so much, this really helped me and I was able to complete the project ❤️❤️
am so.. am speechless this is so amazing and takes of so much work wow just wow
A lot of people like it :-)
FX tips = Bake the animation for choose the good frame despite of launch everytime to have the good frame ;)

Just tweak the the size of cube and boom you have many varieties of pillow
That works
Mike Hermes 😄
thanks for sharing this tutorial video. only one suggestion is; if possible please change the sound of youtbe logo drop at 6:14. it sounds very cranky. rest all good. once again thanks and keep doind such great job
good video
Super
Cool trick.
Mike, what else could you do with Ncloth?
It will be very helpful for me, thank you!
Good tut. Couch pillows are normally flat at the bottom and sides. Could you set up multiple pillows and surfaces and get them to react to one another? Like ouch pillows for example?
Yes, that is possible
Thank you, amazing!
hi mike, would always love your way in simplifying Maya tools and ideas in modeling. Would like also to give us idea in how to achieve Red Grape cluster (Modeling and texturing) specially in Arnold 5 shaders and procedures. I would be thankful.
very helpful thank you
Hello sir, i have a problem, im following your steps, everything is ok until i click play forward button aaaaaaaand, nothing happens. Im trying to restart maya. It didnt work. Any idea what could go wrong? Maya 2020
same thing here
ok I actually figured it out somehow
shit idk how i figured it out anymore
Easy Way Good Sir
thanks
Thanks
what about the nucleus the 'N' thing if i delete it shows double object
I was very relaxing listening to this tutorial .. but at 06:14 my heart was going to stop :D :D :D :D when that voice happened
Sorry :-)
Thank you soooo much!
Jesus Wonderful Crist...! :-D )))) It is REAL FUN !!! ))))))))) Nobody think You will do it this way, I swear !! Ahahahahahaha :-D ))))
Thank You, Mike ! This metod is great! )))
You are very welcome !
Mine doesn't inflate anywhere near as much as yours. If I up the pressure it just inflates extremely fast. Once I'm done and have a pillow that kind of looks like a pillow but not nearly as good as yours, I can no longer move it around the scene.
Very useful tut. Sir
Thank you
thank you so much ! it helps a lot ! :D
Very welcome !
Sir.. can you make a video on hypershade basics in maya 2018 please ,.. i really dont understand the shaders and nodes
How do you scale the cube but still be able to change the subdivisions without the object distorting weirdly?
I was searching up a vapourwave song and found this in the results. I have no clue what I am watching, but it is interesting nonetheless.
thank you :)
Thank you fot the tutorial.. my pillow keeps floating away??? Why
How to control speed of falling cloth?
Change the gravity setting
thank you so muchh :DD
thank you
And you !
How do i export it with out it becoming a rectangle again?
Like this ua-cam.com/video/JsJMa0lTUeQ/v-deo.html
thanxxxxxxxxxxx
sir please jump to emitter fx and realflow with Maya tut's
Mike I need help modeling royal Chair any tip or tutorial videos.
Hi Mike, Could you please have a tutorial where one can render out a realistic ocean and a boat complete with waves breaking off the hull etc. I have read that you do it using bifrost but not entirely sure. I Use 2017 btw....thanks in advance
I have actually done videos on all of this. 1 A realistic ocean 2. A boat riding the waves 3. Waves hitting a beach
Aha...thanks....sorry I must have missed it somehow!
well im using this to make a comfy stock to a sniper rifle so i like it! xD
Hello sir ! first of all thank you fot this quick cloth tutorial ! then my question is : can i use this method to model plastic bags , as garbage bags ? thank you
Sure
what should be my base shape ? just tried with a disc shape and it looked like a jellyfish , kind of like if air blew under it and not inside it
i do the edge thing but it doesnt copy it for all edges. why?
Hi Mike, LOVED this video, and the one where you created curtains! However, I'm having problems exporting the pillows into UE4. They just show up like flat boxes. Help?
Elizabeth, watch my video on how to export nCloth :-)
I tried a lot to make a pillow like this, maybe you can check it out and tell me how ? (Gleason Chair Ottoman) if you write this word on google and see it, the upper pillow, should model it right ? can just use nclothe to it or to something similar ?
Have you watched the video ?
@@MHTutorials3D of course sir .. i did .. but it doesn't show how to make something like the one i am asking for !
@@phoenixcreations94 Mikhail, the principle is the same and after making the initial pillows you can adjust the shape with ZBrush. Or you can make the whole thing in Marvelous Designer
@@MHTutorials3D thanks you veru much .. i will try modeling it without nclothe to get my shape and will try marvelous designer
Great video!
Thank you
my pillow continues to slowly rotate anyone have any idea why?
Cool 😄
Thanks
Mike Hermes 😄
This is nice :) only problem is when i export it to .dae it flatten out to its original form, deleting history doesn't help. Any idea how i might fix this ?
Check this Aluka ua-cam.com/video/JsJMa0lTUeQ/v-deo.html
It worked, awesome :)
I am going to mail you a hug
Thank you. That is the coolest comment I ever received :-)
you are welcome. Hope to learn more from you :)
My pillow blows up to fast, how do I slow that down? Please and thankyou
I think you have to set the pressure lower :)
Try 0.06 as a starting value
As always great tutorial, but you killed my ear at the end with that smash effect :/ I was listening to you on earphones.
Sorry
Hey Mike awesome video as always! While exporting the model as FBX to substance to texture. I noticed that every time it would export the original rectangular shape. I tried exporting as OBJ and that worked fine. In the end I had to go to the node editor and delete the rectangular poly nodes and keep the ncloth one to successfully export as FBX. Is there a better way of exporting as FBX without doing that?
Cope the pillow and delete the original in Maya. Then try again. ( When deleting the history, Maya does not delete everything )
Mike Hermes yeah that was one of the very first things I tried. Made several copies just in case. I am using Maya 2017 maybe it's a bug from that version?
Here is the solution to your problem ( I did a video on it ) ua-cam.com/video/JsJMa0lTUeQ/v-deo.html
Thank you so much Mike! I just have to thank you for your awesome videos. I get so many compliments for the models I game and it's all thanks to you. Keep being awesome!
But a problem. Deleting by type > history didn't make any difference. I tried Delete all history, but the problem reoccurs if I reopen the file.
I'm using maya 2018
What problem ?
I followed the instructions from 03:36 - 03:43 and deleted history.
But, the pillow shape is still moving when I press play.
Did you have the object selected in Object mode when you hit "delete history" ?
Yes. The object is selected, as I can see those red, yellow, blue resize axis buttons. I even tried restarting Maya, but no difference :(
Mikey!!!!
Can anyone think of another instance where such technique can be used?
Hot air balloon, Couch pillows, car tires
Nice! Thank you.
Balloons (hot air, party, animal-shaped?)
Yep
Nice these are giving me ideas. Like making a Michelin Man.
My controls won't work!
What controls ?
The scale tool doesn't work
do you have a page for donate ?
Yes, I do Mikhail, and thank you. You can buy me a cup of coffee at ko-fi.com/A188AXD
