Assassins Creed is becoming more of an RPG than Fallout. These are crazy times.

Choosing between male and female doesn't make this game an rpg, it's still an action linear story game like every other ac game, witcher had choices, choices in dialogue, the way you play the game, multiple story endings based on previous choices, I highly doubt an AC game made in 2 years can achieve what CD Projekt Red did in 8 years for the witcher, and will now do again for Cyberpunk2077, which is also 8 years in the making thus far, or even Red Dead Redemption 2 for that matter

I love that they both have their own personalities.
*Wright* It's in the inflection. Kassandra sounds more charismatic and friendly, and Alexios sounds more serious and rough.
It would have been cooler if they both existed in the world. Like if you didn't play one the other would be your sibling. Wouldn't even need to be a playable character as I know some didn't like that in Syndicate, but like an NPC or something.
*Wright* But it really does? Kassandra's voice isn't soft, it's quiet gruff for a woman. She sounds more friendly because the voice actor made her charismatic and charming than the male voice actor did. He sounds more straight to the point and brash. That is a difference in personality. How someone says something is just as important as what they say.
Sage Personality isn't the type of voice, it's the way to be, and in this game not because you can take choices will be different, they are practically the same person.
Sage Yeah, what you are referring to with Inflection and voice pitch is nothing more than identifying a different speaking pattern. There is no difference in emotion. There is no difference in response. The difference you're hearing, as stated already, is due to the connotations you're attaching to two different types of voice.

Kassandra is amazing. Alexios is great too, but damn, Kass is my jam.
The voice actress for Kassandra sounds so much better! The accent sounds more greek, there's more "life" in her voice and the emphasis on important words and phrases is way better. Overall just a superior performance! Very noticeable in my opinion.

Last time i checked, there were not female musculata armors in the spartan army, so i dont know how can that be realistic.

He means realistic armor in how actual armor would be on a womans body. There's only few rare examples from real life history to pull from and they all came from Europe.

I mean the overall character is trying to be gruff and tough so in some cases it's going to sound a bit stoic at times.
But yeah, overall I can agree the female is better voiced.

The female version has much more expression in her face. Seems it was more so built for her. Not a complaint, just an observation, still gonna play tf out of it cause it looks pretty good

Michael, the doesn't make Alexios canon. These things are made by marketing teams and we all know that they prefer to use men, because they still believe it is affecting sales. Kassandra is going to be used in all outside media like books or comics, making her at least canon for the overall AC universe. But of course the devs would likely argue that every player is going to create their own canon, as they always do with RPGs.

Would've been great if you spent more time actually comparing them side by side rather than alternating between them as you moved the dialogue forward. You know, so we can more accurately compare what's different, what's the same, what's better and what's worse between the two characters.
Totally agree, and it also feels like Alexios had more dialogue in this video than Kassandra. Just started playing and I'm trying to feel out the two actors. From this video though I'm starting to think I wanna play as Kassandra. Which is different since I always play as a guy if given the choice. Feel like the female actor is better because she has more experience as a voice actor for games than the other guy. Sorry can't remember actors names.

Different teams. This is the same team that did Syndicate, which also gave you the option to play as a woman.

If this is set before origins, then theres no way it is related to the assasins, So im guessing that theres a twist in the game and this is the origns of the templars (order of the ancients), and the spear has a fragment of the apple
yeah people cry about this not being assassin's creed anymore, well.. this might be the start of the assassin's creed conflict. But people will always cry and cant enjoy an actual unique location such as ancient Greece. They will keep buying nba fifa and random shooters every year though no problem.

ThatPixelGuy I havent played origins, but this takes place around 400 years BC, that is about 100+ years after leonidas' death. From what i heard this is before Origins though

The concept and the idea is not bad. This is the best way to explore both main characters rather than what Syndicate did for example.

EDIT: Alexios really reminds me of Ezio from Brotherhood, and Kassandra is pretty much the design I would love for a Wonder Woman game. All-in-all, great templates.

They need to polish the face animations in dialogues a bit though. That's my only complain at this point.

I'm glad that there's a choice. I think this is definitely the way going forward, having one male or one female protagonist would alienate some people, and having both is kinda clunky (Syndicate)
I can see having a choice to be either male or female the norm going forward. And... I kinda like it.
The interesting thing, though, is that this is actually a historically accurate thing. Spartan women in Ancient Greece had far more freedom than other women in other Greek states, so the idea of a Spartan woman being playable in this game isn't actually wrong. The Spartans were a fascinating people.
I'm gonna play a male. Never been one to play females in a game. I like to put my eyes in the male MC and relate.

Yeah, but only for Kassandra. They didn't have time for the guy's, and everyone was gonna play her anyway.
I like Kassandra more as heroine, Alexios fits perfectly as villain.
Kassandra has more character and she's very charming. On top of that she's the canon character. Alexios oozes debonaire suave but Kassandra is gentle yet deadly, a rarer character than the male counterpart.
Kassandra has the voice and verbology, while Alexios has the movements and expressions. Couldn't just roll all of that into one superb character, could they?
Listen, being greek, I find this awesome. But I think you could have found voice actors with actual greek accents instead of fake ones. I would almost have preferred you used actors with english and irish accents like most productions do instead of shitty fake greek accents.

We don't have this problem with tje french version, I don't know what the english version keep trying to put " realistic accent', as you say they could just use english accent, simple.

this game looks so pretty and i like the idea of "customizing" your experience more. the fact that you can chose your answers too makes me excited. it's really different for ac, but it looks good.

Kassandra has a lovely Greek accent, very authentic! I gotta say, I' surprised at how ppl say they look or sound Mexica/Latin, because ethnically, Greek people look very similar w/ dark hair, tan skin and rounder features than Northern Europeans.
Those are modern Turkic Greeks. The ancient Greeks were less dark than modern Greeks and many bleached their hair to look even lighter. Many of their God's and Goddesses are also depicted with blonde hair and blue eyes. And when you look at Greek statues you will not find the rounder Turkic features, but Indo-European features.

@@kostas8537 I also get that colour when I work in the sun all day every day. The women had the same genes as the men, so the men being darker just means they spent more time in the sun.

I like to play as a male more, but the female seems to fit the storyline better. In stealth I would prefer the female, but in hard combat I want to be more like a spartan as in the film 300 wich would look weird as a woman

Interesting enough, Kassandra is the "official" main character of Odyssey according to the creative director, Jonathan Dumont.
Everyone is ragging on Alexios for his deadpan delivery, but I think it's perfect for a Spartan. They don't call it Laconic humor for nothing.
Kassandras both acting and facial expressions are waaay better than Alexios. Alexios looks half dead most of the time.

I feel that options like these are good but at the same time makes the main character less memorable.

Spartan boys actually left their mother's care at pretty young ages. Given that Sparta ran on a slave economy a female Spartan citizen certainly wasn't doing any chores, the slaves would do it. Spartan families were very different.

It is better to play as: Kassandra, because "Deimos" fits perfectly for Alexios and other things through the game.

Though Male character is handsome but the female character is much more enticing. I would like to play this game with the female character
For anyone talking about historical accuracy, Spartan boys were taken to training camps and beat each up and worked out, although Spartan girls weren't treated as harshly they still went through training in gymnastics and wrestling. Spartan women were held to the same degree as men but were mainly left to nurture children whereas men went to war.
kind of a tad bit sad that alexios isnt the canon main character (male character.) but it makes sense because at times, he doesnt really fit in too well
Kassandra looks a LOT more expressive and have better acting overall. The guy is kinda robotic and feels generic idk.

I just had an argument with a friend because he thought this game was set in Roman empire, not Greece - I mean bruh, the Odyssey title, the names Alexios and Kassandra, the spartan kick, the shields, the helmets, architecture, like isn't it obvious? Like, I don't want to brag that I'm smart but isn't all that stuff common knowledge?

Too much use of red colour makes the game feel more of Roman times. Also some of the faces seem more of roman origin. Red was expensive to make and was not worn by the average pleb. Also the name Alexios is roman. They could have used Alexandros although that would be a tad too "much" , but they could have used something else, like Eteokles, Anaxagoras, Nikodimos, Archelaos but "Alexios" comes from a later era if not the even later eastern roman empire: Byzantine era. So yeah one could go wrong because of all that... Also ancient Greeks were not saying "malaka" Malaka is a later time word and started to be used after 1970 or something... Is the same as if you have a game with lords of british origin using today's slag of Harlem. People were not talking like that back then.
Thats just cause most people associate that type of armor, especially the helmets with roman soldiers.

A good lesson for the next Dragon Age, male and female character's animations are different and the woman move actually like a woman!
In a setting where women are treated as less than human beings the two characters play exactly the same...
This is fiction and we don't have to rely on sexism to drive stories about historical fiction :)

It would make zero sense to make her the main protagonist because female spartan warriors did not exist.

@@Ilovedallthepeople Minotaurs are part of Greek mythology and gender segregation part of Greek history. Women in combat was considered barbaric and the other city states would probably declare war on you for being a barbarian that allows women to be slaughtered on the battliefield.

So AC is finally giving 50% of its players character of their gender. Great. I'm going to get this (once its released and no microtransactions have been spotted, and the game has been patched) and play it with both characters.
wasn't there in Syndicate a female playable character? Also, i remember a DLC of AC III had a playable female character...
