I am so hyped for this show. Definitely giving off the Godfather/Sopranos vibes. Colin Farrell is going to kill it!
Towards the end of the year is going to be exciting with not only the penguin show but also Joker 2.
“Copperpot”
This show depicts why the idea of Batman was created. Batman is like the lone stranger who comes into a town and cleans it up.
You just know that Colin Farrell is going bring his A game with this performance…he delivered that monologue with such gravitas. I’m completely hooked at this point. Let’s go!

Hopefully. Considering his role on West World he has a lot of experience with HBO television.
I believe Robert Pattinson was spotted on set or in the same area of the filming of this show sometime last year & it was make sense if Penguin ends up rising the food chain or something big happens that Batman has to be somewhat involved in.
For those wondering, Ray is dressed as the respected gang leader that the Penguin reminisces about.
After watching the batman and they announced the penguin series, I was sold. After watching the trailer, I am seriously looking forward to it.
Colin is gonna rock it, loved him in season 2 of true detective.

In the trailer, Max used a very similar font and color to their own The Sopranos.
You don't need a mention of Batman. This is a gangster movie. The criminals are going to operate with or without Batman.
I can’t wait to watch this. I loved the grounded approach in The Batman. Bring it on!

They should show Pattison but as Bruce not Batman. Like, there should be discussions about the Bat and what he's doing to "business", but Penguin should have to deal with Bruce Wayne the millionaire businessman.
This show looks great and it should be a nice placeholder until The Batman 2.
I'm more excited for this Batman-verse than I am for the DCU & MCU lol. I hope Reeves continues this universe. These darker tones & the seriousness is a breath of fresh air for the comic book genre, might be why I loved Jon Bernthal's Punisher so much. Plus I love crime thriller dramas.

So my theory is we won't get Pattinson as Batman physically but we'll get mentions. But we'll get Our first Glimpse of Playboy Bruce Wayne during a scene set in the Iceberg Lounge maybe in the background observing.
Seemingly an expansion of the already-rich world established in The Batman, and looks like it could be full of more colourful characters that don’t usually get their due, but could then play into a large narrative. Can’t wait.

I think it might be an understatement when it was said, this doesn't feel like a comic book show. Shouldn't it though? It's the penguin. Not the godfather, not the sopranos. Sure, he's a crime boss, but he's a crime boss in Gotham city. Shouldn't there be comic book elements? Gotham the show already did it for better or worse but the elements should be there and this trailer doesn't have any. I'll wait for the reviews.

I got serious BTAS vibes from this trailer which I loved , I think this will be amazing so excited for this! How has Colin not won an Oscar yet?! I hope he is in a movie that gets him one soon! 🙏 But I'm really digging how Gotham looks in this and how Crime bosses are a big part of it and getting into that lore that comes with that organized crime aspect .o man I'm pumped! this is the Batman stories I've been waiting for!

Unlike Gotham (which I did enjoy), Titans, etc.. shows that have to dance around Batman.. I have to admit idgaf if Batman doesnt have a presence in this one. Colin's performance has me hooked

It feels like a crime noir storyline with A Bronx Tale type of story. It's the underbelly of Gotham City that we are getting to see. The Batman will show up in the end to setup the next chapter as the tagline will say the story will continue in "The Batman Part..."

Personally, about half way through the season, have Batman come in and tell penguin he’s watching his ascent to power.. have penguin respond that when he’s at the top, may the best man win.. sets up season two, you get a Batman cameo.. and everyone is happy
Personally, I’d be perfectly fine if Batman never showed up. I can see Bruce Wayne making a cameo though.

If they're going to mention "Batman," then do it quickly. Don't proscastinate like season one of Daredevil where it took 13 episodes to see him red costume.
This is a bizarre comparison, but also Daredevil looked his best before his costume. The make shift "suit" he had on was far better looking than the one he ended up with.

I'm intrigued, but nothing about this screams Penguin story. If they wanted to do a gangster show they didn't need the Penguin name. Because now it just feels like someone already had a Sopranos style show in mind and WB asked them if they could make it with the Penguin as the lead.

Having Batman there, the show can be taken from Oz. But let it only be with him and Oz can shine.
That’s what happened with The Continental. John wick is the main guy. And the rest are side characters. The show was testing to see if it can survive without Reeves in the role. It is a mixed bag, but it showed that there will be people loyal to the brand and others who don’t like change.
Same thing can happen in Penguin if it isn’t handled well.
Once you take the genie out of the bottle there is no going back. An appearence of Batman/ Bruce would lead to fans questioning why we didnt see more Batman. I assume there Will be a cameo or mention of the character. Probably explaining that Batman is training in Asia while the events of the series take place.

Oswald was the only good part in The Batman for me. But I was so bored with it I can't get excited about this.
The Penguin was the best thing about The Batman, other than that I found it a complete disappointment. I know I'm in the minority.
I fully agree with you on Penguin being the best part and the rest of the movie being underwhelming so I guess we're both in the minority 😂

To me the only good things about this movie are the cinematography is AMAZING, The upside-down shot in the rain 👌, Colin Ferrell Penguin's performance is great, the make-up on Penguin deserved an Oscar, and Gotham for once looked dreary like Gotham is supposed to be. To me, everything else is mediocre at best.
@@FriendlyBatDoom Yes!! The cinematography and Penguins makeup were incredible. They definitely deserved an Oscar for makeup because Colin Ferrell was unrecognizable. The only other bright spot to me was John Turturro as Falcone, he was very scary and intimidating. And Ferrell should've also been nominated. I have high hopes for the Penguin show.
