@@hopsmetalshow3413 i will watch it 😁 i love this song. Is so awesome, the lyrics are so beautiful. The song tells Yoshiki's life (the drummer/pianist) . All he's been through, all he suffered, how he struggled to recover, and as we all know when you suffer in life is not easy to recover. The whole piano sequence in the middle of the song shows the suffering and the struggle to recover..
I need to work *laugh* very short info: The lyrics of this one are completely in English. This version is obviously cut (very weirdly), this one is a complete version: ua-cam.com/video/SP8L-Nw3hNE/v-deo.html The piano part in that one is over 12 minutes long. The song is structured like a classical piece of music and was inspired by Schubert's Unfinished Symphony. It was released as ONE album and recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 1992/1993. One of the most amazing modern pieces of music ever crated in my opinion. I could probabyl write up a novel on this one (and I partially did on other channels before^^''). I still think it wouldn't be your cup of tea though, so doing this short version might not have been perfect but in the end it might be better then watching you guys go through the 12 minutes of piano repetition ^^''
This song is a master piece! Yoshiki, the bands leader, composer, pianist, drummer, and brain behind X-Japan is a music genius! Just recorded a song with Bono.
that mix looks kinda weird, you definitely have to watch all song, cause it's really is a master peace. and best to watch from their The last live in 1997, that is the most epic concert. (group was formed in 1982) Such long songs you can cut in few parts and publish one by one if you don't want to upload long song, but i say, that X Japan fan's are don't mind to watch it all XD Please check Kurenai. I recommend to check their younger "brothers" Luna sea, they also famous in Japan and old group, just more active now. After X Japan's guitarist Hide death, they share one guitarist Sugizo (my favorite). LUNA SEA-Time Has Come (20th ANNIVERSARY WORLD TOUR REBOOT -to the New Moon- TOKYO DOME)
Personally, I'd probably watch a reaction to the full version of Art Of Life Live... That said, while it's epic, it's also a bit repetitive in some ways and some parts probably go on a bit too long, especially in live performance when they need to buy a bit more time for the drummer/pianist to switch instruments lol. In my opinion, this is better listened to in the background than paying full attention to it... But yeah, there's also plenty to react to... One suggestion I can offer is that you could react to the whole thing and then edit your reaction down to highlights after... But if you don't feel like that, I don't blame you lol. It's a long song. You're probably better off reacting to their shorter songs... Kurenai and Endless Rain from Last Live are pretty cool to see... You should probably check out a live performance of X, though that might be better once you're a bit more into them... Tears is a beautiful song, as is Forever Love or Say Anything, but if you want wilder then there's Sadistic Desire or maybe Rusty Nail, amongst many others. Some people aren't as keen on their more recent stuff, after reforming, But I still think it rocks, personally. Still, probably best to check out the older stuff first.
Yoshiki is the band leader (piano and drummer). Art of Life is a complex masterpiece. It is Yoshiki’s battle in life without a father who he lost to suicide at a very young age... these roller coaster of emotions are represented by the piano part especially in lives where he intentionally play off key and eventually back to the main melody. The lyric is poetic.. and listeners can easily find themselves connect to it in some level making this one of fan favorites. The band itself is very interesting.. and have evolved from glam speed metal (they started the Visual Kei movement) to a well balanced band both in appearance and music. The band has since lost two well-loved band members, hide (guitar) and Taiji (bassist). The band never made worldwide major success due to language and Toshi (singer) had a hard time singing in English. Yoshiki wrote Art of Life in English with the intent to use it to reach out to listeners outside of Japan. Watch their documentary “We are X”. In it, Gene Simmons expressed his opinion that if X Japan had sung in good English earlier on.. they could easily have been one of the best bands majorly recognized in the world :)
@@hopsmetalshow3413 It is not necessary, art of life is a great composition, but there are other gooood songs such as silent jealousy (live 1992) or rose of pain (live version 91 with orchestra) that capture very well the symphonic essence of the band. You can also check Kurenai from the last live (1997) is amazing, it really is at a good level, from the musical and the whole show
@@hopsmetalshow3413 The full 30 minute version is insanely worth it. Especially considering just how much of a beast Yoshiki is to hold that tempo for so long, move to the piano for the second movement (yes the song was composed as a classical piece so it's broken up into movements), and then back to drums for the third movement. It also has one of the best guitar-harmonized-with-an-orchestra solos ever, if not the best.
I would watch entire live reaction 😁. It is very good song! Maybe you listen to the CD some time or watch entire live version, the one which got linked in the comments. They often play shorter version. The one linked is full version. I think your list is very full already so I don't give new suggestions. I hope you can come to the Gazette still this year ☺️
@@hopsmetalshow3413 Wow. Thank you for considering! Tokyo Dome 31.12.93 is the complete song live. But they are short breaks in it because Yoshiki changes between drums and piano. When you do this maybe you can make short breaks also to comment. Then it will not be so long at the end and you dont forget things to say? But like Night Light sayed it has 12 minute piano solo. It is not easy song to listen. But very emotional.
@@hopsmetalshow3413 Oh you can not do this XD I usually request Songs I think you and others will like but dont much request. So the read comment and might request it too. Probably not the best video to watch. They formed in 1983, so they were around for a long time and very popular and started the metal revolution (and Visul Kei) in Japan. Try this one ( 5 minutes) from 1990 - ua-cam.com/video/ykRcEztUOz8/v-deo.html
It certainly is a reaction, but i wouldn't call it a musical reaction. It seems everything was talked about except the music (hairstyle, guitar type, the stage, etc). I'll pass.

Kurenai - X Japan is their most famous song and inspired all of the following japanese metal bands with yoshiki even producing dir en grey
Thanks for reacting to Art of life.. (you should have reacted to the full version 😭)

With that, I highly recommend going back and watch their 93 live version of this song. Also their Last Live concert in 1997.

eh, this is basically like reading a foreword without even jumping into the book proper. Should've reacted to the song instead of just the piano intro

I agree. This reaction is more close to a "fashion police". Is unfair for this Masterpiece.
Not the "proper" version.
