I think you probably got most of the ingredients - "by name" correct. But in Texas cookin' it's more than just getting the right ingredient by name - you GOTTA get the RIGHT BRAND!!! Cause trust me - if someone has an epic recipe and they're using Dukes and you use Hellman's or whatever European version of mayo, lemme tell you brother -YOU GOT IT WRONG!!. So in this case, I cannot confirm nor deny, but most Texans when they're whupping up a mighty good recipe that calls for mayo? Ain't but one brand to use and without a shadow of a doubt - and if you ain't using that brand, well you just nullified your recipe attempt. In this case I'm talking about using Duke's Mayonnaise. So if you ain't using Dukes, you've probably missed it. Also, if you're using pickles from a European supermarket or any supermarket in the UK, you probably missed it there too. Texas is mighty particular about our pickles. They are pretty much as important as getting the right cut of dead cow meat, or making your own BBQ sauce or if you are a Texan in your head but not your heart, buying the right "Sauce". Anyway, you can call em' gherkins or whatever, but we are mighty particular about our pickles. Hell, we even have dill pickles that we make with a locally crafted sour beer concoction. They ain't my favorite, but they are still pretty dang good. Point is - that once again, it ain't just the named ingredient - you gotta have the correct brand. The rest of the stuff was probably OK and you gave it the good ol' college try. But if you want to really get close to that recipe, you need the right stuff. (Kinda like that movie, "The Right Stuff". Watch it if you haven't.
Anyway, you don't know what you don't know, and being the Christmas season, if you want me to send over a couple different jars of pickles, some GIN-U-WINE Dukes Mayo so you can remake this recipe - let me know and I'll do it. Hell I've sent real Texas beer to folks across the pond who have tried it and wept when they returned to their raining all the time, no gun-having country. It's all about payin' attention to the details brother. That will make you or break you. I'm not sure exactly how you'll tell me the details I need to know without blastin' yer stuff all over the internet, but if you figure that out - I'll send you a "Care Package". Just like I used to get when I was deployed. Holler at me and let me know.
Thankyou for your feedback, I appreciate your deep knowledge and expertise. 🙏
Finally I found it you shock?
It doesn't eat the same without the potato chip. Maybe try it again with plain chips. The starch breaks down and gives it a different mouth feel.
Of course, I will try it with the chips next time, Thankyou for your feedback.
