Alot of people ask this! I was raised without central heating so it's just in my nature to put more layers on rather than put the heating on. Plus, this house actually only has a few radiators none of which are upstairs so it's always a bit chilly in winter. I like it though, I'm happiest in a big hoody and a beanie hat 😆😆
Yes.... I created a lot of virtual choir videos using Da Vinci for Video and a combo of Ableton Live and Studio One for Audio Mixing and Mastering.... Works really well... Just make sure that you convert the individual clips to a lower resolution if you have too many clips to be handled.... Or use the disable option in the timeline to disable all the other clips and enable only the clip that you are working with... This reduces the load on the system drastically....
These short tutorials are great. I bring up the tutorial on my right monitor and Davinci 18 on my left. And just follow along until I get it right. It really helps my learn curve.
Thanks so much, Alex! I'm doing a video for my daughter's upcoming graduation, and will interview a bunch of people. I wasn't sure how I was going to get all the interviews on a single page ... until now!
You make editing easy with you very clear step by step videos. I can't tell you how much this is going to help me with my little videos. Thank you so much!!
Thanks Alex for the Video, just one important thing: When using the collage this way, be sure to define your collage properties (tile size, border color etc...) BEFORE copying the collage properties to your other tracks, because after that step you have multiple independent collages - with every collage using only one tile. If you want to change properties afterwards - for example border color of the tiles - you have to do this separately in every collage (or copy properties again and re-assign tile numbers). Small hint that might avoid much work afterwards ;-)
Thanks for this video. Your instructions were clear and your insights great! I am creating a side-by-side interview video as my first Resolve project and you made this very easy.
It's not clear if there are four video collages or one...assuming the next step would be to stretch the background clip out as far as needed and add new clips to the four timelines as far out as desired...
Good video explaining how to use. Can you create this as an index screen so when you click on Video it open to full screen then when done back to split screen. thanks
Thank you. Can I use an adjustment layer instead of copy/paste attributes? I have added effects and some zoom to my clips, that's why the copy/paste method may not be the best option.
It appears other than the background, I can not use this with jpg still images. I made the images into MP4s as a work around. Am I missing something is there a way to use still images in tiles?
Thank Alex, lol u in tile 4. The way the tile animates out as the coresponding clip expires is way good. Just need my licence for studio to come through from Scan.
I love the tutorial. I am now able to create the split screen effect. But, how do I achieve the accurate syncing that you have when there are people talking in each video?
All out of the blue...when I put the video on track it doesn't play in box🤦🏾♂️ I just did a video 2 days ago. I watched this video over & over again to see if I missed something. But I didn't...the video is not working after past the attributes to it. Any help!
I like how you make sure something goes "wrong", so you can show how to fix it. Here, I'm thinking of the first video clip that didn't have the same ration. One question about that. Could you change the yellow colour to transparent, so you don't have to zoom the video to get rid of it? I've been waiting for my licens for weeks now. You know, Blackmagic created this circus where you don't get your licens before the speed editor arives, if you ordered the package. And they appear to be very slow at delivering the speed editors, so people have to go for months waiting for their licenses too.
Hi Alex I’m struggling to find any videos on how to bird animations using davinci resolve 16. I was wondering if you could to a tutorial on how to do this in a future video. Thank you very much.
Awesome. Great tutorial, Alex. I can see this effect would be great for using in a faux news report where a tile would be the subject of the story. Or for a TV show where each tile introduces the characters of the show. Thanks so much!
wish I could do this without my system slowing to a crawl. I didnt even think I had a weak machine, but it chugs like nothing else even with 1080p video if I load up about 10 videos.
You're an absolute legend man! I've been trying to find a good video about this for 3 hours, and it's been driving me FUCKING crazy! Thank you so much, this helped so much and was so easy to understand
Thanks Alex, great tutorial as always. what happened to your heating? you look dressed for the cold :DDD

SO good. I’ve got a virtual choir coming up later this month and this will be SO helpful.

I can confirm this makes virtual choirs a lot easier! Such a better work-flow than resizing and transforming every video into place.
Thanks so much!
This will be a great help for my cooking videos. Best wishes from India.
LOL my mother commented in my chanell

The other video i have had watched is confusing so I need to watch it over and over again! thank you for this!
Thank you so much. My patreon community as been asking for a "virtual choir" style video. I just did my first trial with great success.
Just what I was looking for. Super helpful, and I'm glad the search pointed me towards someone I'm already subscribed to. Thanks for the video, mate.

Mate, you have some great tutorials.
Cheers Phil 🙂👍
Alex, thank you. Just put together an homage together with one of our songs for a friend who passed away during the week. You make it easy.
Awesome! This saved me a ton of time and headache, thank you so much.

Oooohhhh...this will save me so much time creating virtual choirs or bands...until now I did everything manually...
i reality enjoyed it and learnt from it. many thanks from the bottom of my heart bro.
Boom! Great tutorial Alex - this will come in very handy right now!
Thanks again Alex. I was trying to figure this out on my own but I guess next time I will just head straight to your channel!!!
how do u like the 18 version of DaVinci?
Wow! Two years later and this is still a great tutorial!
Great! Fun and great looking split screen effect!

super nice tutorial for people who have no idea about editing

Oh man! This would have saved me so much time last week when editing a 13 kid, middle school choir. At least I'll have it for next time. Thanks!
Thanks Alex, fantastic and to the point as always.
Thanks, love all your Davinci videos and this one has given me a great idea for a photo/video collage :-)
Perfect Explanation, thanks a lot once again for your great Videos!
Alex!! You are amazing.. ☝🏻♥️👍🏻
Again, brilliant work. Didn't even know this existed.
I just used that tutorial to insert some splitscreens in my new video. That was helpful again - thanks!
Great feature Alex. Didn't know this existed in DR 17!
Great tutorial with all details 👍
Your videos are the best. I got Da Vinci 17 just to do the effect. Thanks
This was very helpful, well articulated, and interesting. Thanks. Happy to be a new subscriber.
Absolut Perfect, greetings from Berlin in 🇩🇪 Thanks 🙏 🙏👍👍
Thank you. Excellent tutorial.
Happy New Year Alex
Thanks for the tutorial MrAlexTech, awesome feature in DR17.
great detailed video as usual thanks.
Happy New year Mr Alex ....
Great addition for simple grids. Still have to do it manually if you need something asymmetrical or with odd numbered inputs.
Nice.... Good addition to my video toolbox... thanks!
I had forgotten about this new feature! I could have used that in my last project, but I animated the screens manually instead.
Amazing video! Thanks a lot!
Is this only available in the paid version?
Thanks Alex, Happy New Year and all the best for 2021.
love your tips man, everything is super well explained even for beginners like me.
thanks

excellent, very clear. Thanks.

Top notch tutorial once again. This will surely come handy in my guitar videos!
Thanks so much for this!
Do you have a video showing how you added the clips to the collage to make it look like they are talking to each other?
Cool and really useful effect indeed!
This was super easy to follow along thank you.
Thank you so much!
Wow, Thank you so much, Alex :)
Happy new year Alex. Thank you will have look my friend

Alex, thank you! I have one question.
How could I make one of the video's/layer smoothly occupy the whole screen at the end?
How do you speed up the transtions?
thanks you a lot

I don't have the Resize Content, Tile Styling, Drop Shadow, or Style Animation. Are those tabs for the paid version?
It appears there is no way to change the aspect ratio of a single window, I want to mix landscape windows with portrait windows, can that be done?
